TerraCross is, in a word, “Unique.” It showcases some of the nation’s top side-by-side racers along with some celebrity racers and famous athletes outside the sport of SxS racing.

NORTH BRANCH, MN (August 25, 2015) - The Mystik Lubricants TerraCross Championship will bring its thrilling off road racing to Hay Days September 12-13th for another double-header weekend, and the Terracross season finale is just two weeks later at the famous Charlotte Motor Speedway in North Carolina. TerraCross is, in a word, “Unique.” It showcases some of the nation’s top side-byside racers along with some celebrity racers and famous athletes outside the sport of SxS racing. Jason Ellis, Jim Beaver, Jeremy Stenberg, Levi Lavallee, Ronnie Faisst, Chris Burandt, and Josh Koscheck are some of the big names racers that have made a career outside of SxS racing, but are still drawn to the adrenaline rush that Terracross racing provides.

SEPT 2015

One of the unique features about Terracross racing is the series mandates that the spec Polaris RZR XP 1000s remain essentially stock with no engine, clutch, exhaust or exotic components allowed. For the safety of the drivers, the series is proud to have Pro Armor provide some body armor to the vehicles for added safety, and all the racers run on the race proven GBC Motorsports Mongral tires mounted on Walker Evans Racing’s beadlock wheels. The last TerraCross event, a doubleheader in Del Mar, CA , showcased just how competitive these races can be, with Mickey Thomas and RJ Anderson leading the charge, while defending champion, Jason Luburgh, back to back podium finishes handed him a one-point lead in the championship race after the season opening double-header.

The Del Mar circuit told the tale. The track was unique, including the series signature over-under jump along with a big double jump in the center of a horse arena, a slick concert section, as well as the “Mystik Mayhem” section that consisted of half-buried tractor tires. The track was so demanding, in fact, that many machines were breaking front differentials in qualifying, so the promoter elected to run the races in two-wheel-drive for the main events. Walker Evans Racing’s Anderson loves putting on a show for the crowd: “What I love about it is that we get to put on a great show on such a small course,” explained Anderson. “This is honestly the best racing that appeals to the public. We run basically stock Polaris RZR side-by-sides that basically anyone can buy and come racing, running them on a track that is so tight and so much fun.

WRITTEN & PHOTOGRAPHED by David H. Pruszka

My recollection of the Car Craft Summer Nationals in Milwaukee July 17-19 was a long overdue event for my hometown. I have been into performance and classic autos since before I could drive and my first event was in Indianapolis, Indiana in 1978. After two more years there and several years in both Springfield and Du Quoin, Illinois, I fell away from these national events for a while, yet this move to Milwaukee this year has rekindled my efforts to participate to a fuller extent.

SEPT 2015

I entered my classic 1988 Caprice and immersed myself to taking in this event that is surrounded by well established neighborhoods full of families who welcomed participants from across the country. Major car builders, customizers, designers and performance aftermarket companies settled in for this event with generally great weather divided by a late afternoon thunderstorm on Saturday that thankfully held off until after the bulk of the events scheduled were over for the day. After the storm’s passing, Great Lakes Dragaway hosted the Midnight Drags.

Former Miss Hurst icon Linda Vaughn made several signing and autograph sessions in the Chevrolet Performance area across from the main stage where, among other things, the Miss Car Craft Summer Nationals contest was held and awards presentations were made. There was a Dyno Challenge area to determine definitive horsepower rankings among participants along with a burnout contest on the front straight of the Milwaukee Mile race course. The well attended event will be on many agendas for next year. //

RED-HOT, RECORD-SETTING RACING DURING LUCAS OIL NHRA NATIONALS AT BRAINERD

RICHIE CRAMPTON \\

The National Hot Rod Association (NHRA) blew into Brainerd International Raceway for the 34th running of the Lucas Oil NHRA Nationals, bringing with it the best drag racers in the world and the fastest dragsters. Weather conditions for the Aug. 20-23 race wasn’t pleasant for fans. It rained Saturday afternoon and Sunday morning, with temperatures in the low 60s, overcast skies and a tailwind gusting to 30 mph. Little did fans know, though, that those conditions were all coming together for the perfect storm of nitro, horsepower and speed. When racing was done for the weekend, four different drivers smashed the Top Fuel and Funny Car national records for elapsed time and speed. The general PAGE 28

feeling was that the weekend’s racing was epic, securing BIR’s spot as the fastest track in the country.

in Pro Stock and Eddie Krawiec in Pro Stock Motorcycle. The bikes ran at BIR for the first time since 2012.

Antron Brown set the Top Fuel elapsed time record at 3.680 seconds and Jack Beckman set the Funny Car mark at 3.901 seconds. Spencer Massey set the national speed record at 332.75 mph in Top Fuel and Matt Hagan’s 329.58 mph is the new national speed record in Funny Car. Shawn Langdon and Hagan had quicker times than Brown and Beckman, respectively, but they were unable to certify them.

In addition to the amazing driving feats on the track, the NHRA Nationals included all the features that make the event unique on the NHRA’s Mello Yello Drag Racing Series circuit. BIR’s campground, called The Zoo, was in rare form, despite soggy conditions. Huge bonfires, the perpetual parade of “Partywagons” (people movers), fireworks, live music and a celebratory mood like no other in professional sports typified Race Week again this year. Many drivers and their crews were again gracious with their time by touring The Zoo and celebrating the end of the race day with their fans.

None of those racers, however, won their way to the winner’s circle. In the end, Richie Crampton ran his Lucas Oil Top Fuel dragster to a finals win, along with Robert Hight in Funny Car, Erica Enders

She used a quicker reaction time and a final round performance of 6.552 seconds at 210.34 mph in her Elite Motorsports Chevy Camaro to take the win over rival and Duluth area native Jason Line, who posted a quicker, but losing 6.541 seconds at 211.06 mph in his Summit Racing Equipment Camaro.

EDDIE KRAWIEC \\

“This is a really crucial time in our season, especially heading into Indy (in two weeks), where it’s worth points and a half, so it’s a great time to get that momentum to swing back to our side of the fence, and I’m so proud of my team,” Enders said.

BRINGING THE

COMMUNITY TOGETHER TO BENEFIT MILITARY TROOPS

Cruise for Troops pays tribute to our fallen soldiers while raising money to help fund the education of the children who are left behind. COLUMBUS, Minn., (June 17, 2015) – The passing of a military hero, no matter the circumstances, results in an aftermath their children and families must endure for a lifetime. The goal of Cruise for Troops is to honor the sacrifices made, help restore a sense of normalcy to the families left behind, and ease a financial burden while providing a solid educational foundation for their child’s future. What started as a small tribute to our soldiers with 35 cars and group of friends has now turned into the largest combined car and motorcycle cruise in the Upper Midwest and a day of celebration for many; the seventh annual Cruise for Troops event will take place at Running Aces Casino and Racetrack in Columbus, MN on Saturday, September 26.

SEPT 2015

The event will kick off at 9am with on-site registration. The opening ceremony, at 11am, will celebrate active military members and veterans with a focus on remembering those who continue to be deployed. The cruise will take place from 12-2pm. The celebration continues with the after party with a Top 10 car and motorcycle show, food, live rockabilly music by the Holy Rocka Rollaz, silent auction, and kids’ activities from 2-5pm. All are welcome to take in the sights and sounds of the car and bike show for a suggested $5 donation. Founder and classic car enthusiast, Russ Hanes says while there are a lot of car cruises for people to be involved in, there wasn’t one he was aware of that honored our troops and that’s where he saw a need. In 2009 when Russ and 34 other cars left to cruise nearly 100 miles of back roads he had no idea what would develop and how large this event could become. We hope to exceed the success of 2014 when over 1,000 classic cars, specialty

vehicles, and motorcycles took part in the event. With a record-breaking crowd of over 4,000 people, we raised over $15,000 for the Tribute To The Troops® Fallen Heroes Children’s Education Fund. Funds generated at the Cruise for Troops will go to the Fallen Heroes Children’s Education Fund within the Tribute To The Troops organization. Tribute To The Troops is an organization of grateful Americans dedicated to preserving the memory of those men and women of our nation’s military who lost their lives while bravely protecting our freedom. It is in their memory that we honor and convey our heartfelt gratitude to family and friends left behind and extend our sincere appreciation to all veterans who have served, whether in war or in peace. A TRIKE THAT LOOKS LIKE A CHOPPER!

We wanted to build a Trike that is more like a Chopper than a Trike... long, clean and low. A combination between a Trike and a Chopper! The idea for the bike is all my husbands and little bit of mine, and Calles Chopperdelar Sweden build the frame after our specification. We built it in addition to make it work well for me since I have a muscle disease that makes me unable to drive a conventional motorcycle. The solutions that we came up with make it easier for me to ride and drive the bike and allow me to be on the roads together with my husband and friends. From the beginning we didn’t know if the Trike would work for me so I‘d like to say that the whole bike makes me happy and that it turned out so much better than we even hoped! After the rebuild it become even better and good looking. The auto clutch is really a cool part and it makes my driving so much easier. I just release the throttle and switch gear. It handles like a go-cart. The bike is great, smooth to ride, easy to handle, fast and very reliable. I just love my real brass knuckles in the rear that we found on an arms exhibition and my foot pegs, look like brass knuckles that I bought in the US. Also, I like the text on the bike, which can be annoying for some people, especially Baggers. We’ve traveled around Sweden on our vacation both on the mainland and on the beautiful island of Gotland in Sweden’s east coast. Mostly and as soon as we can, we take short rides to and around our capital of Sweden, Stockholm. Totally we are on the road 6000 km every season. //

PRESENTS

C&A Pro Skis is excited to release its latest performance product to the snowmobile industry, the XCS aka Xtreme Crossover Ski. With machines getting faster, lighter, and stronger there has been a need for a performance snowmobile ski that can dominate both on and off trail. C&A delivers with the XCS. We tested a wide range of locations and proved the XCS is everything that today’s crossover rider is looking for.

C&A left nothing out for the rider whose machine is used in low elevation and occasional trips to the mountains. Our integrated boot traction ridges are on both sides of the saddle for when the going gets deep and the rider needs a sturdy place to stand. Additionally, riders can reverse with ease and back out of situations with XCS’s tall tail section. The brand new XCS by C&A Pro Skis, truly allows all riders to Ride Like a Pro!

LEADER IN ITS CLASS // The XCS’s optimal width of 6.75” provides ample off trail floatation, and firm footing on the trail. The outboard keels help alleviate trail darting and deliver extra floatation in deep snow. The traction scoops on both sides ofthe center keel keeps the XCS planted on the snow and gripping the corners where other skis would lift.

ABOUT C&A PRO SKIS // C&A Pro Skis provide the most flexible and indestructible snowmobile skis on the market because they are made of durable ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene material (UHMW-PE) combined with compression molded technology. The

inherent strength and performance of these premium skis makes them the choice of professional athletes worldwide. C&A provides a full range of snowmobile skis to accommodate the various riding preferences of racing, mountain, crossover and trail.

C&A Skis are available through power sports dealers or online at www.caproskis.com. Learn more by visiting the web or contacting us via phone 888-321-6789 or email sales@caproskis. com. C&A Pro Skis has its headquarters and manufacturing in Hutchinson Minnesota and is a division of Pride Solutions LLC. //
