MAKE 2019 YOUR HEALTHIEST YEAR YET

These healthy tips from UPMC Health Plan’s health coaches will inspire you.

Christine Sperdute: “Pick one goal you feel passionate about to focus on. Give your most important goal the time and attention it deserves so you are able to make your resolution your new way of life.”

Gianna Carlotti: “Feeling uncomfortable during any lifestyle change is normal. Focus on goals that embrace change, yet still allow you to be kind to yourself.”

Janine Jones: “Make goal setting inspiring this year by imagining yourself in the future with optimal health and well-being. Narrow your goal to one that sparks excitement, fits your values, matches your strengths, and boosts confidence moving forward.”

Claire Muszalski: “Focus on adding positive habits rather than dwelling on what you need to eliminate. For example, ‘I will add a piece of fruit to my lunch daily,’ or ‘I will add a 15-minute walk every day after work.’ ”

Jenna Spector: “Wake up each morning by making an attainable and productive goal, such as walking for 30 minutes or eating one serving of vegetables. By accomplishing each small goal, you will turn your New Year’s resolution into a healthy lifestyle.”

Renee Greenwald: “Plan for slips—recovery is key! Set an action plan by focusing on factors that led to the slip in the first place and ways to work around these challenges to prevent them from happening again.”

Kristen Davis: “Celebrate the small victories! Focusing on the positives with your health and wellness can help you get back on track after a slip (whether it be with physical activity or nutrition) and help you make progress toward your goals!”

Stephanie Nardiello: “Give yourself five minutes each day to take slow, full breaths and think about every good thing you do to take care of yourself and all the good things in your life. Gratitude can open a new door to your overall wellness.”

ESTATE PL ANS:

A PART OF YOUR

FINANCIAL HEALTH By Brianne King, Manager of Financial Planning at Fragasso Financial Advisors

Y

our estate plan is not a simple “set it and forget it set of documents. It needs to be a living, breathing document that evolves with the changing needs of you, your family and your wealth. The goal should be to ensure that your estate transfers as you intend. As your life evolves with many changes, some of which are listed on the chart, you need to keep your estate plan fluid. A simple document, such as a will, may have been appropriate when originally established, but it might not be as dynamic as the current needs of your family. Trusts may seem complicated or come at an unnecessary cost, but the protection and control it provides, both during and beyond your lifetime, may provide benefits for generations of your family. Executing your estate plan within your investment accounts can be just as critical as drafting the estate documents. If your investment accounts are not titled correctly to incorporate the new trust, you may be leaving the benefits of the trust on the table. It is also extremely important to remember individual retirement plans, transfer on death personal accounts, annuities, and other accounts that may transfer to a beneficiary upon death. That beneficiary designation supersedes any wishes in a will. Therefore, updating the beneficiary designations to match the new estate plan is imperative. N ow is the time to perform an annual checkup on all your beneficiary designations to ensure they are accurate and in conjunction with your wishes. Begin the dialogue with your family to ensure your current estate plan is still appropriate,

sufficient and most importantly, based on how you want your estate to be distributed. Keep in mind, it is good practice to keep your financial advisor updated on any significant life changes as they happen. Your financial advisor can serve as an advocate for you and your wishes by playing an integral role in conversations with your attorney and accountant. These professionals should work together on your behalf to align all aspects of your estate plan. Investment advice offered through Fragasso Financial Advisors, a registered investment advisor. Robert Fragasso ranked #2 in western Pennsylvania on Forbes Top 250 Wealth Advisors. Forbes ranks Fragasso Financial Advisors founder, chairman and CEO Robert Fragasso as the No. 175th Financial Advisor ranking nationally. Algorithm is based on quality of practice learned through telephone and in-person interviews, client retention, industry experience, review of compliance records, firm nominations; and quantitative criteria, including: assets under management and revenue generated for their firms. Investment performance is not a criterion because client objectives and risk tolerances vary, and advisors rarely have audited performance reports. Rankings are based on the opinions of SHOOK Research, LLC which does not receive compensation from the advisors or their firms in exchange for placement on a ranking. Minimum account sizes are general since it can vary depending on a range of circumstances. Advisors are judged on individual contribution, but total team assets are shown; while in some cases significant, non-custodied assets are not included due to verification difficulties. Data as of June 2018. Ranked #2 in western Pennsylvania, Fragasso ranked #66 nationally, up from #70 in 2017. Barron’s ranks Fragasso Financial Advisors founder, chairman and CEO Robert Fragasso as the No. 2 financial advisor in Western Pa. and No. 66 out of 17,500 such firms nationally on the list of America’s Top 100 Independent Advisors. Barron’s has ranked independent advisors since 2007. The Top 100 Independent Financial Advisors ranking reflects the volume of assets overseen by the advisors and their teams, revenues generated for the firms, assets under management, revenue produced for the firm, regulatory record, quality of practice, philanthropic work and the quality of the advisors’ practices. The scoring system assigns a top score of 100 and rates the rest by comparing them with the winner.

Condado’s Tacos is bringing the heat to Lawrenceville! With a second location now open after the success of the Downtown taco restaurant, the Columbus, Ohio based business is spicing up Butler Street! On the evening of our visit, guests built their own tacos with special salsas, and then indulged in a wide range of margaritas. The street art splashed on the walls made the room feel alive and warm despite a determined chill outside. With more options for taco creation than a tortilla-chip lover could fathom, this cool restaurant is certain to become one hot destination!

Sushi Tomo 4812 MCKNIGHT ROAD, PITTSBURGH. 412.630.8666., SUSHI-TOMO.COM. Sushi Tomo has long been known amongst its regular crowd as one of the best restaurants around the city offering a full sushi menu. New customers always seem to question themselves on why they didn’t know about it sooner. Located on the Pittsburgh end of McKnight road, the restaurant is also known for offering both Japanese and Chinese cuisine. As the owners prepared to close up last year, long time employees stepped in to take over and keep the tradition going. While honoring all of the same dishes and recipes that made this restaurant a favorite among the city, they are also introducing delicious new specials, happy hours, and just recently, Japanese whisky flights. If you have never been there, or haven’t been there in a while, it’s time to stop in.

FINANCE

/ REPORT

THE YEAR AHEAD:

TOP 10 ECONOMIC PREDICTIONS FOR 2019 BY JOHN AUGUSTINE, CHIEF INVESTMENT OFFICER, HUNTINGTON PRIVATE BANK PHOTOGRAPHS FROM SETH SEYMOUR

46

2018 was a year for investors that reminded us of 1994 — nothing worked.

T

he U.S. economy did well that year, but the combination of Fed concerns, trade and tariff headlines, and worries about the future of the global economy held down stocks, bonds, commodities, and gold. The only area of return has been the U.S. stock market, and those returns were single digits. For 2018, the only bright spot benefited savers. With the anticipated four rate hikes by the Fed, savers saw yields move noticeably positive for the first time in nine years — good news for many Americans. So what’s in store for the global economy and markets in 2019? For the answer, our thoughts turn to 1995. Could markets and the economy repeat what occurred in 1995 when the Fed stopped its tightening cycle, the economy slowed, the U.S. dollar moved lower, and stocks, bonds, commodities, and gold all saw noticeable positive returns?

Short-term European bond yields move positive for the first time in five years as the European Central Bank stops its bondbuying program and slowly starts to normalize policy rates from the zero level. The Fed stops at 2.75% in its tightening cycle as inflation stays in the low 2% range and the U.S. economy grows in the 2.5% range before inflation. The S&P 500 has a double-digit return in the 10-20% range from a combination of earnings growth, and the price-earnings ratio expansion returns to the 18x range for trailing earnings (from the 16x range at the end of 2018). One item to note: If the Fed goes above 3%, and we are wrong in #2 above, the S&P 500 will struggle for single-digit returns. The U.S. bond market sees corporate spreads widen to the 10-year average (1.64% vs. the current 1.34%), but overall the 10-year Treasury yields only rise to the 3.3% range. U.S. conglomerates continue to spinoff unrelated or nonstrategic units to unlock shareholder value. This comes

from a combination of activist investors and slowing earnings growth. Corporate bondholders will need to be on the lookout for the units that end up with the most debt. The U.S. Dollar Index moves back towards the 90 level from a combination of the Fed tightening cycle ending and the European Central Bank and Bank of Japan tightening cycles slowly beginning. Washington stays divisive, but U.S. companies and consumers move on. Corporate profits grow in the 5% range (national income accounts) while U.S. consumer spending improves by 3%. Something else to note: We expect S&P 500 earnings per share to grow 9%. China continues to be a risk to the global economy as its own economic growth slows to the 6% range and the size, scope, and solvency levels around debt continue to be debated. U.S. capital spending picks up pace as companies struggle to find labor while looking to boost productivity and correct years of underinvestment.

ABOUT JOHN AUGUSTINE Augustine has spent nearly three decades as an investment manager, investment strategist and economic strategist for various financial institutions. He joined Huntington Bank in May 2014 as chief investment officer for the Huntington Private Bank, which has more than $18 billion in assets under management. He appears frequently in the national media, including the Wall Street Journal, CNBC, CNN, Bloomberg, Reuters, and Fox Business News.

Labor mobility in the U.S. increases, with the Labor Participation Rate rising as jobs available are plentiful in the U.S. American workers go to the sectors, geographies and companies that welcome them. This could help the Great Lakes states with their lower cost of living and higher quality of life in many areas.

A LIVING

LEGEND

SIDNEY CROSBY IS NO LONGER “SID THE KID.” THE 31-YEAR-OLD HAS BEEN THE PITTSBURGH PENGUINS’ TEAM CAPTAIN FOR 12 YEARS. CROSBY HAS LONG BEEN THE LEADING FIGURE OF THE NATIONAL HOCKEY LEAGUE, A QUINTESSENTIAL PLAYER, GROUNDED LEADER, AND INSPIRATIONAL MAN WITH A PASSION FOR THE SPORT.

t the team’s annual Open Skate, children from Allegheny County’s public schools scramble on the stairs and squirm in their seats for a chance to see the hockey legend at his best. With no pressures to compete, Sidney Crosby soars along the blazing white ice with flair and confidence. The kids feel it. That kind of energy raises up everyone so that soon after settling in to their assigned sections, the elementary and middle-school students become transfixed upon the gliding, sliding, and exuberance that radiates from the rink. The sheer joy of the Pittsburgh Penguin teammates to practice freely, to skate in huge figure eights that leave their marks on the frozen floor, is an eyeful of wonderment. That rapt interest catches the attention of the thousands of Pittsburgh children, making their own nervous systems activate with enthusiasm that manifests as a huge wall of loud sound. Yelling, screaming, and laughing are the notes that bounce off of the walls of the PPG Paints Arena, making it all of the way to the ice. “Oh, I think they were just excited about being off of school,” Crosby laughs off the sound machine. “But they are fortunate-I didn’t have an NHL hockey team in my hometown.” Well aware of the high costs associated with hockey, both as a player and a spectator, Crosby emphasizes this Pittsburgh privilege when interviewed

on the ice earlier, when all of those screaming voices silence just long enough to hear him say, “This is an honor, and you are lucky to be able to watch this!” With that, the crowd of adolescent bodies erupts, sending bombs of sound onto the players below, making them all break into laughter. A Leo born in early August in the magical year of 1987 (his “87”), Crosby gives great consideration to what it takes to be a leader, who is one, and why. “I think everyone leads in their own way, especially when you’re talking about a team. You need so many different types of leaders. You can’t have one person specifically. You need to have a group. I really believe that everybody on a team leads in their own way. Some guys are a little more energetic, they’re emotional. Emotional leaders are vocal. Other guys lead by example. Other guys are just really funny, they can keep a group loose, and that’s their way of leading.” “I think there are a lot of different ways to lead, but I think for me, I was always the younger kid growing up. I was always looking up to the older guys as one of the younger ones, but I think as a player you evolve, as a captain, or an assistant captain, or as a teammate, and that’s something I’m still trying to do at 31. That’s the fun part, that’s the challenge of being a professional hockey player.” 54

I THINK IT’S REALLY COOL. THEY GET TO SEE A PRACTICE UP CLOSE. AS A KID GROWING UP, I DIDN’T HAVE AN NHL TEAM WHERE I LIVED, SO I CAN’T IMAGINE HOW EXCITED I WOULD HAVE BEEN TO GET OUT OF SCHOOL AND GO WATCH A PRACTICE UP CLOSE LIKE THAT. I REMEMBER SEEING PLAYERS ON TV, AND THINKING I WOULDN’T GET A CHANCE TO SEE THEM UP CLOSE. THEY’RE VERY FORTUNATE TO HAVE A TEAM HERE IN PITTSBURGH. IT’S REALLY NICE OF THE TEAM TO GIVE THEM AN OPPORTUNITY LIKE THAT. I THINK THEY ENJOYED THEMSELVES, BASED ON THE NOISE OUT THERE TODAY!

His answer exemplifies his role as a true leader. That, and the fact that at the end of Open Skate, Crosby is the last person off the ice. The team captain retrieves hockey pucks for his young fans and stops to have photos taken, making lifelong hockey fans along the way. Afterwards, in the quiet of Suite 66 next to the famous tunnel from which the players enter and exit, Crosby reflects on it. “Looking back on my childhood and playing the game, the friends I made, and the experiences I had, obviously my dream was to play in the NHL. But if I didn’t, I still feel like I would look back with some great memories as a lot of my friends still do.” He continues, “It’s a great opportunity to meet people, and learn a lot about others, and yourself, and play a great game at the same time.” The game of hockey has changed in recent years as well. Crosby has taken more than his share of brutal hits that have taken him out of the game for weeks on end. The head blows are off-limits now, but the game still has rough plays, and players. Not one to call out any particular player, Crosby’s take on the issue asserts responsibility and accountability. He explains, “Ten years ago it was legal to deliver a hit to the head as long as it was your shoulder that was the first point of contact, then

56

W HI R L / J ANUARY / F E BRUARY 2 0 1 9

48-59_Jacqui_Crosby_6.indd 56

1/23/19 4:34 PM

that was accepted as a clean hit. Knowing what we know now, and after so many things have happened, we learned that you don’t necessarily need that hit anymore in order for it to be a legal check. It’s got to be either through the body, or shoulder-to-shoulder. Basically just not targeting the head and so we have to adapt. And that’s just the reality of the sport, and the reality of the world we live in.” He continues, “I think we need to adjust and adapt, and as players that’s what we do. It would be easy to me to say ‘Oh, that’s a clean hit’, because at one point, it was a clean hit. But the reality is that it’s not anymore. It’s probably for the better, and we all have to make sure that we go with that.” A sentimentality for home is often a huge side effect for those whose professions take them on the road for long periods of time. The little things that are taken for granted for home-based citizens can be dearly missed, and made all the more sweeter when one is on one’s own turf. That rootedness is clear in Crosby. Not just in the fact that he has been here for 14 years, but that this is where he chooses to stay, and that he has a personal life here as well. But it is his desire to maintain normal citizenship that garners such deep respect from residents here. Crosby is a fan of the city too. His keen observations on the community’s evolvement

reveal his steady intellect and ability for retrospection. “It’s amazing how much it has changed since I first came here. I feel like every year it just gets better and better.” He smiles, “The people here are amazing, too. Everywhere you go, people are so friendly, and so supportive. I am really grateful and thankful that I ended up here. It is an amazing place.” But in the end, it is all about hockey. Crosby is remarkably buff, noticeably stronger and more muscle-bound in his upper body. His strength is in his demeanor too. No longer shy, his confidence is quiet, kind; just a really nice regular guy. He is perfectly poised for any pivet in his professional life. Not that any hockey fan wants it, but the question has to asked as to what his interests might be upon retiring from the sport. The answer in one word? “Hockey.” Crosby elaborates. “It’s interesting because you don’t think about that five years ago. But you think about it a little more when your friends start to retire and they talk about what they’re doing, and it comes up

58

a little more, and you think about it a little more.” “I love the game, and part of me goes right to the fact of how can I still be involved in hockey, and not playing? It would be hard for anything to ever match, as far as

profession, what I do and what I love right now. But I would love to be involved in the game in some capacity. Whether it’s coaching, or some facet, we’ll see. But I definitely can’t see myself venturing too far from hockey.”

he Evancho family is taking on the global issue of transgender equality from their own home. Jackie Evancho has worldwide acclaim as the ten-year-old little girl with the big voice who became a household name with her appearances on America’s Got Talent. Her meteoric rise to stardom and fame could have brought challenges through temptations at such a young age, but the Evancho’s strong bonds kept her safe, enabling her to take the world stage with consistent grace. Now an adult, Jackie is touring the world with her music, but she is coming home in February to provide support to one she adores-her sister, Juliet. An quietly outspoken member of the transgender community, Jackie is bringing her distinctive voice to the issue of transgender equality. – BY CHRISTINE MCMAHON TUMPSON TO SHOW FULL SUPPORT FOR THIS CAUSE, HERE ARE THE WORDS OF THE EVANCHO FAMILY:

On FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 15TH, The Brave Heart Foundation of Pittsburgh will host “An Evening with Jackie Evancho, A Fundraising Event. The concert event will take place at the August Wilson Center and include VIP cocktail hour and a Meet & Greet with the singer after the performance. A worldwide sensation when she was only ten years old, Jackie Evancho is moving past the exuberant fulfillment of a child prodigy vocalist, toward maturity as a singer, as a creative artist and as a young woman, with her upcoming new album and tour, The New American Songbook. The multi-platinum, international recording artist will match her extraordinary voice with one of most exciting reemerging genres in popular music today. She will WOW

you with songs from breakthrough musicals such as Hamilton, Dear Evan Hanson, Waitress, Once, The Band’s Visit, Wicked, and Spring Awakening, and hit films like The Greatest Showman and La La Land. Proceeds from the event will benefit the Brave Heart Foundation(TBHF) of Pittsburgh a new organization that will provide safe, enriching, and affirmative housing for homeless LGBTQ+ young adults ages 18-26. TBHF will provide the emotional support and overall care needed for their clients to develop their own personal blueprints to success. We empower homeless LGBTQ+ young adults to reach their full potential (regardless of past barriers) through a variety of long-term, comprehensive support programs designed to provide resources as well as access to education, medical care, emotional support, career guidance. The mission of The Brave Heart Foundation -- To remove barriers to advancement and provide supportive environments that give young adults the confidence and tools necessary to live independent and successful lives. The Brave Heart Foundation was founded by Lisa Evancho in 2017 after learning about the experiences of LGBTQ youth and young adults who end up homeless because of family rejection. “That a young person’s parents could completely reject them for being LGBTQ+ is incomprehensible to me. I decided I would be the parent they don’t have and provide the affirmative supportive that may have been missing from their lives. I have enough love and hugs to go around” - Lisa Evancho - Founder, The Brave Heart Foundation of Pittsburgh. Tickets for the fundraising event are available on EVENTBRITE.

Dorit Brauer, Tribal Dance,Oil on canvas, 60 x 48” (detail)

DORIT BRAUER My inspiration for the new paintings of the Unwinding Series is to serve as a positive catalyst by bringing light and playfulness to the viewer. I consider the creation of art a sacred ritual. Before I pick up the paintbrush there is a long preparation involving meditation, sketching, journaling and reflection. These bold and colorful oil paintings emerged over the course of eight to twelve months, allowing two to three weeks for the oil paint to dry after each new layer, while working on multiple canvases simultaneously. The viewer is invited to trace the unwinding patterns as they create a flow that extends far beyond the canvas. The eyes, fingertips and, soon, the whole body may move with an inner rhythm that has been awakened. At this point one might feel the urge to move lightly or even dance! These paintings are an invitation to be in the moment, listen within and follow the next impulse, leading to a natural unwinding of the body and spirit. Everything in the universe vibrates; it unwinds, flows, and spins. This constant movement of creation is present in our physical bodies, it’s flow and change is essential. The Unwinding on the physical, mental, emotional, spiritual level is needed to maintain health and balance. DORITBRAUER.COM.COM WH I R LM A G A Z I N E . COM / WH IRL

As a Sr. designer for 18-years and the founder of Paganico Designs, a commercial and residential design firm, Luca learned to appreciate design from Pittsburgh’s unique architectural elements and natural surroundings. This was a big part of created timeless design that will leave you speechless. Luca’s love for art and knack for thinking outside the box has earned him many awards including the 2011 AIA (American Institute of Architects) People’s Choice Award and has been featured on many shows such as HGTV Design Star, MTV, and other networks with his jaw dropping creations. Today Luca Is now following his dreams of creating art that we all can relate to, he is creating a variety of styles that are fun with themes such as Rock-N-Roll, Childhood Cartoons, and even Inspirational pieces using life quotes with colors that will make you smile within every piece of art. You will find many mediums that make every piece POP, using Acrylics, graffiti cans, automotive paint, and much more. You could spend hour’s looking for hidden messages and symbols such as the dove, heart, star, teardrop, and leaf that is incorporated in every piece of art, making it extremely unique and interactive. Luca’s Unorthodox style of art and story behind every piece is being recognized by galleries and collectors from Pittsburgh to Las Vegas, who also want to share his story on “coloring the world” with his art. TAKING CARE of the

MINDVBODY THIS LOCAL WELLNESS CENTRE OFFERS STATE-OF-THE-ART SERVICES THAT CAN ONLY BE FOUND IN THE TRI-STATE AREA AT THEIR ESTABLISHMENT.

BY LISA SRNKA AND FRED JEZZI • EDITED BY MATTHEW HACKE PHOTOGRAPHS FROM REVITALIZE - A SEWICKLEY WELLNESS CENTRE

REVITALIZE - A SEWICKLEY WELLNESS CENTRE Open 7 days a week, Revitalize - A Sewickley Wellness Centre, is a one of a kind facility offering LED Light Stimulation, Flotation and Himalayan Salt Therapy. In an ever increasingly hectic, stressful world, Revitalize offers individuals an oasis of calm to allow the body to heal naturally while relaxing the mind. This mind and body approach to wellness is the first of its kind in the Tri-State Area. This unique facility was conceptualized, designed, and opened by Lisa Srnka, a Nurse Practitioner, practicing Functional Medicine and her life partner Fred Jezzi, who after years in Corporate America found calm and meditation as a way to relieve stress. The Centre, located in the heart of Sewickley Village, offers three proven natural modalities that simply require an individual to lie back and allow the body to experience temporary physical relief while calming the mind.

1/23/19 4:40 PM

THE THREE LIFE-CHANGING OFFERINGS: 1. LED LIGHT STIMULATION BED & ANTI-AGING FACE PANEL REVITALIZATION In the wake of the opioid misuse epidemic, LED Light Stimulation, or photobiomodulation therapy has been FDA cleared to temporarily increase blood circulation and reduce inflammation naturally and without side effects to relieve chronic pain and speed healing. Using LED Light Simulation Beds, this therapy can also increase the body’s ability to replace ATP (Adenosine Triphosphate) and Nitric Oxide, which improves post-exercise recovery and muscle regeneration and has been shown to enhance athletic performance. Lisa adds, “We have clients that are athletes, individuals recovering from cancer or others who are in chronic pain. They all use the bed for their own specific need. The Anti-Aging Face Panel is great for reducing fine lines and wrinkles or to help the healing process associated with cosmetic surgery. As Fred is fond of saying, “It is The Mother of All Beds”. “And, as with all our services, all that is required is to lie down and relax, take a nap, or meditate, which is helpful for the mind.” 2. FLOTATION SUITE Housing the largest flotation device around, the oversized 7’ x 6’ x 7’ Flotation Suite is a 1-hour session of GLOURIOUS. With 150 gallons of water maintained at a constant temperature of 93.5 degrees (the temperature of your skin) and 1800 pounds of Epsom Salt it allows the body to experience anti-gravity while floating effortlessly. The suite is equipped with light, music and an internal intercom which can all be controlled by the user. Fred explains, “We wanted to provide everyone with an opportunity to experience floating, so we went out and got the largest unit available.” If you are new to floating and want to ease your way in, their suite is roomy and

comfortable, cutting back on the claustrophobic effect of float pods. Old school meditation folks can cut the lights and music and go total dark providing one of the most accommodating environments for meditation. The physical effect is an hour of total recovery for joints and muscles as well as relief from headaches, migraines and concussions. Recent studies show it also can help with Autism and/or ADHD”. And the suite is large enough to accommodate two adults for that special “couples float.” 3. HIMALAYAN SALT THERAPY The Himalayan Salt Therapy is provided in a 15’ x 15’ x 8’, 6 seat room with over 1400 genuine Himalayan salt bricks on the walls and over 2-ton of ground Himalayan salt on the floor. Fashioned to resemble a salt mine, the room is powered by a Global Halotherapy Solutions HALOFX halogenerator which fills the room with dry salt aerosol, an odorless, colorless dust application. “The respiratory and dermatological benefits of salt is centuries old” says Lisa. “Eastern culture has been using this therapy for centuries to provide temporary relief from sinus issues, allergies, sore throats, lung disorders such as COPD and Asthma as well as skin conditions like Eczema, Psoriasis, or Seborrhea”. “Fred has suffered from COPD and Eczema for years and uses the room every morning to meditate, the proverbial one two punch,” Lisa continues.

“We are the only local facility to offer these three unique services and the only local facility to offer LED Light Stimulation Therapy,” —Fred Jezzi, co-owner of Revitalize

Ultimately, the duo did extensive research to ensure their clients are provided a welcoming, calm, and safe environment to recover. “We really looked at every aspect of the business - from the ceilings to the floors and all points in between - and think we pretty much nailed it. You really must experience it to get the full effect and we’re sure you won’t be disappointed,” Fred exclaims. 432 Green Street, Sewickley. revitalizesewickley.com 412.356.5986 WH I R LM A G A Z I N E . KAYLEN DAVIDSON AND

NICK GODIN Married July 29, 2017

Kaylen and Nick met and live in Los Angeles, but chose to get married in Kaylen’s hometown of Pittsburgh so that more of their family could attend. “It was really important for us to have as much family attend our special day as possible, so Pittsburgh was an easy choice,” Kaylen exclaims.

“As soon as I tried on my Monique Lhuillier gown, I knew it was the dress. I felt like a bride, and the 3D floral appliqués just happened to match the garden rose theme of our ceremony,” says Kaylen.

“We love animals and are big supporters of animal rescue, so it only felt right that we had custom props of our two cats, Lucy and Romeo, done for our photobooth,” says Kaylen.
