Triten Norbutse Monastery
Triten Norbutse Monastery in Kathmandu, Nepal was founded by H.E. Yongdzin Lopon Tenzin Namdak Rinpoche in 1987. It is one of the two main Bon monasteries outside of Tibet. A beautiful monastery built into Rani Bhan ~ Queen Forest. As you drive to its location T Triten Norbutse stands out in all its glory. You can feel the blessings of Tonpa Shenrab pour down the very long elevated, approximately 172 step high stair way.
You see many Geshes and students dressed in their maroon robes. Some with yellow, others with blue, wishing you Tashi Deleg and giving you a warm welcome smile.
The orginal Triten Norbutse Monastery in Tibet was founded in the 14th century by the grand Bönpo Master Shen Nyima Gyaltsen, born 1360 AD, a descendant of the Shen liniage, the lineage of Buddha Tonpa Shenrab, the founder of Bön.
