A Note from the Pastor
Wednesdays beginning August 22 Mission Friends, GAs, RAs, Acteens & Challengers
All of us live in a world where stress is the norm, not the exception. Most of the time we manage the pressures of life without much notice. It is when additional and usually unexpected problems arise that our stress can lead to distress. Everyone, saved or lost, is subject to such periods in life. What we must remember is that word “period.” Everything on earth, the good, bad, or normal is temporary. I came across this quote as I have been dealing with the complex issues that are facing my family and me. It reminded me of the need for always looking up instead of around and down. “Circumstances do not upset us; we upset ourselves by believing that our circumstances can upset us.” Nothing quiets the soul like meditation on God’s promises. Add that to the love of family and friends, cards, letters, emails, gifts, food, voice and text messages, and the battle is still real, but the peace of God prevails. May the Lord bless you richly this week. Thank you for your love and support.

2013 DEACON NOMINATIONS According to our church bylaws (Article III, Section B), the following is a summary of the qualifications for those who serve as deacons: A male at least 25 years of age who has been a WBC member for at least one year and meets the Scriptural qualifications set forth in I Timothy 3:8-13 and Acts 6:3,5—as evidenced by a commitment to Christ, family, stewardship, church ministry, church covenant, and personal evangelism. The primary role of a deacon at WBC is one of service; thus another qualification is their willingness to serve. Please submit nominations to Josh Elmore by August 26.
