2020 was a year marked by the pandemic, and like many others, we have had to adapt our operations accordingly. We have been forced to take drastic measures, such as implementing travel and visitor bans, digital-only meetings, and requiring many employees to work from home for an extended period. Our preventative measures have worked, we have had no spread of the virus in the workplace, and we hope that will remain the case. Wibax has remained strong throughout the year, especially with regard to results, while many others have been struggling financially. In the past year, we completed our single largest acquisition thus far, through the investment in Baltic Tank Oy. This led to us welcoming about 30 new employees into the group, in September, as we assumed ownership of nine terminals, primarily located in Finland,

but also one in Estonia. This further strengthens our position in Finland, and continues the expansion of the strategy that has served us so well throughout Wibax' history. During the autumn, colleagues at Wibax have worked in a strategic, goal-oriented fashion to welcome the new recruits and help them integrate as well as possible, under the circumstances. Even though we haven't yet been able to meet in person, this process has exceeded expectations. In parallel with our work to integrate the Finnish part of the company, we have also prepared a new group structure, unveiled on January 1, 2021, with the goal of facilitiating continued, efficient growth. I look forward to Wibax' future development and I hope that it will soon be possible for us to once again meet in person! Jonas Wiklund CEO WIBAX Group AB

WIBAX has acquired Baltic Tank – a leading Finnish company in the field of storage and handling of liquid chemical products TERMINAL

WIBAX ACQUIRED 100% of Baltic Tank Oy shares on September 1, 2020, thereby taking over operations headquartered in Åbo, as well as the company's terminals along the coast of Finland, and in Kunda, Estonia.

As part of the terms set out in the acquisition deal, Baltic Tank will be part of Wibax' Finnish group, with Wibax Holding OY serving as the Finnish parent company. As part of the merger, the corporations once part of Baltic Tank will have their names changed to Wibax Tank OY and Wibax Tank AS respectively. The transaction is one stage in Wibax' vision to build a leading chemicals management group,

and strengthens Wibax' unique ability to offer services along the entire value chain throughout the Nordic countries. Today, Wibax has 19 terminals in strategic locations throughout Sweden, Finland and Estonia. "The acquisition of Baltic Tank is a strategic investment in Wibax' future growth outside Sweden's borders. Baltic Tank's extensive nextwork of terminals along the Finnish and Baltic coasts will contribute to an expansion increasing the geographical reach of Wibax' range of services. Baltic Tank is a family-owned business just like Wibax, with firm values well in line with our own, and we look forward to welcoming them into the Wibax family", explains Jonas Wiklund, CEO of Wibax Group. "Together with Wibax, Baltic Tank can now offer customers a broader range of services throughout all of the Nordic countries", says Tero Väyrynen, CEO of Baltic Tank. "We feel confident that we are leaving the company in the good hands of another family-owned business, whose values closely match our own", says Antti Laaksonen, representative for the controlling owners of Baltic Tank.

SUSTAINABLE SOLUTIONS FOR THE NORDIC MARKET SEVERAL WIBAX CUSTOMERS and partners have been established in both Finland and Sweden for a long time. The industrial structure of the two countries is largely similar, with major stakeholders in the forestry, steel, mining, paper and pulp industries. Wibax' unique offer, well-established in Sweden since 1986, consisting of storage, supervision, transport and product sales, is sought-after by Finnish customers too. Through the acquisition of Baltic Tank OY, Wibax can offer the Finnish and Estonian markets sustainable total solutions, thereby reaching more rapid growth and establishing deeper long-term collaboration.

EXPANSION IN FINLAND

The implementation of Baltic Tank as part of the Wibax group has been carried out succesfully, with positive reactions, and a number of synergies and collaborative projects have already been identified.

There is now work underway to develop a strategic growth plan for the period leading up to 2025, for the Finnish group. The market has responded favourably, welcoming Wibax' Finnish investment with a number of new, major bulk product deals. Deals that would not have been possible without Baltic Tank's storage resources and skilled staff. With storage options along the entire coastal region, from Uddevalla, Sweden to Kunda, Estonia, Wibax has further strengthened its presence and competitiveness, as the one chemicals supplier offering sustainable, long-term solutions for the entire nordic market. "Along with our colleagues at Baltic Tank, we have every opportunity to create Good Chemistry and growth for a sustainable future", concludes Fredrik Nyberg, CEO Wibax Holding Oy.

WIBAX Tank Oy and WIBAX Sales Oy "Last autumn, hardly anyone could have guessed that the company integration process would be anything but normal", explains Tero Väyrynen, Managing Director Wibax Tank Oy.

BALTIC TANK BECAME PART OF WIBAX about half a year ago. A Finnish family ownership transitioned to a Swedish one, and our comparatively small business with about 30 employees became part of the much larger Wibax group, with about 250 employees. Last autumn, at the very beginning of our shared journey, no one could really have guessed that the integration process would be anything but normal. The covid pandemic and the travel instructions that followed, have made in-person meetings impossible. However, distance meetings through Teams have worked really well. Add to that the fact that collaboration worked really smoothly from the outset, which has led to remarkably positive end results. Wibax Tank offers storage services for liquids and bulk chemicals. We have nine (9) terminals from Kemi to Fredrikshamn, covering the most important shipping ports. Additionally, we own a terminal in the port of Kunda, Estonia. Our comprehensive network of termi-

nals offers highly cost-efficient logistics solutions for our customers. We also work closely with our sister company Wibax Sales, responsible for chemical sales in Finland. Through seamless and close collaboration between the companies, we can make better use of Wibax' know-how and offer total solutions throughout the logistics chain; ”From Source to Mill”. Liquid bulk chemicals and sustainable biofuels are areas where the group's competencies in storage, logistics and customer service are of great importance. The acquisition of Baltic Tank also provides new, rapid growth opportunities for WIBAX Sales. Our most important customers are major, international companies. Rather than focusing on individual countries, many view the Nordics as a single market. Wibax is now a stronger, pan-Nordic stakeholder, able to offer our customers even better total solutions across the Nordic countries.

"Through close collaboration between the companies, we can offer total solutiouns for our customers, according to the concept ”From Source to Mill", says Mikael Kvist, Managing Director Wibax Sales Oy.

WE HAVE NOW MOVED IN

to our new facilities at Wibax HQ

The 1,300 square feet expansion has been completed, and in June 2020, we moved in to the new facilities. We would like to thank Hellströms bygg, Norconsult and all of their subcontractors, who have worked on this project with us. Now, we have facilities suited to the needs of both today and tomorrow.

OUR 75 OFFICE SPACES have been supplemented with an additional 36 office rooms, and a creative office landscape. The office space spans two floors, above existing production facilities, adjacent to the current offices. Our staff now has an even better work environment, and the new facilities allow us to try new working procedures and methods.

A new break room with double the ceiling height and a large, south-facing terrace and a large staff gym, are things that further add to the pleasant environment. The expansion also includes a new lab and control room, as part of the continued expansion of our own production. 6

WIBAX expanding collaboration with SunPine SunPine is extending and expanding its logistics collaboration with WIBAX. The agreement covers transportation and storage of products used by SunPine in biofuel production. This logistics collaboration is important from a perspective of sustainability, where WIBAX and SunPine supply chains supplement each other and minimise the distance driven by tanker trucks without cargo. WIBAX offers logistics solutions covering all of Sweden, employing about 20 people.

"WIBAX has been a logistics partner for SunPine since 2010, when SunPine began producing biodiesel at Haraholmen. Wibax transports tall oil on behalf of SunPine, from paper industries all over Sweden, and can use the return journeys to deliver inputs necessary for production at the mills. Avoiding empty mileage for tanker trucks in this way, allows us to provide a sustainable, efficient logistics solution, explains Magnus Sundström, CEO, WIBAX Logistics AB.

WIBAX is cleaning to maximise production capacity at Sunpine Maintaining maximum production capacity at the Sunpine factory is important. That's why Wibax regularly cleans the factory heat exchangers, with products tailored to that particular use. Everything happens in a closed system, where all chemicals used in cleaning are then recycled into the production process – a sustainable way to clean. Sunpine is a world-leading biorefinery, delivering innovative, sustainable products based on a waste product from sulphate pulp plants called tall oil. Tall oil is a raw material from the Swedish forestry industry, a sustainable industry in itself. Sustainability is a green, common thread, unifying operations at Sunpine, which is why a sustainable cleaning process, contributing to full production capacity, is important too. "We are very pleased that Wibax has developed a tailored cleaning product that efficiently removes build-up from inside our heat exchangers. In addition to maximising capacity, we can also see a positive impact on the longevity of the heat exchangers, as mechanical interference is minimised. Wibax' ability to assist us at short notice is another benefit, and all in all, we are very pleased with our collaboration", explains Andreas Bäckström, Production Technician at Sunpine. 8

WIBAX continues to convert asphalt plants for Skanska Skanska continues to increase efforts to convert asphalt plants to bio oil operation, thereby lowering carbon emissions. Now, Skanska's ninth asphalt plant has been renovated and is ready for bio oil – the production of fossil-free heated asphalt is underway. WIBAX Industrial has built a mobile tank for the bio oil, allowing it to be moved closer to the source materials, thereby minimising the need for heated road transport. WIBAX offers a total solution for bio oil conversion, from storage to combustion and asssistance with Klimatklivet subsidy applications.

WIBAX continues to work for a fossil free Sweden Wibax shares the conviction that the world must stop using fossil fuels, and that Sweden should be leading in this work. That is why we participate in the initiative, Fossil Free Sweden. In doing so, we support the Fossil Free Sweden declaration, and present our own goals and concrete measures through which Wibax will contribute to reduced emissions and a fossil free Sweden. It is vital that we keep working with sustainability issues, so that future generations may grow up in sustainable communities. Fossil Free Sweden challenges companies, organisations, municipal and regional councils to take concrete action to reduce carbon emissions. In showing leadership, one also paves the way for those wishing to follow. WIBAX has registered the following climate targets: During normal operation, the heating of facilities, including cisterns, shall be fossil free by 2025. WIBAX shall strive to take a leading role in the transition to fossil free heavy logistics, with the goal of 80% of our own transports being fossil free by 2030.

FRESH DRINKING WATER WIBAX' Piteå headquarters are now tap water certified! We have decided to label the operations at our headquarters with the Swedish “Kranmärkt” label, certifying that we only use tap water, as it is better for the environment than packaged water. Tap water is always locally produced, and the production is highly energy efficient. The fact that our tap water in Piteå is fresh and of high quality is yet another reason why we have decided to label our operations with “Kranmärkt”. Kranmärkt is a national sustainability label for organisations choosing tap water instead of packaged water. For Wibax, Kranmärkt means that we will stop purchasing packaged water, instead choosing to use, promote and offer tap water during the course of our daily operations, meetings, training days and events organised by Wibax.

Wibax has signed a declaration of intent, securing access to fresh drinking water. Chemicals are a vital part of the production process for high quality drinking water and wastewater treatment. Wibax delivers products to municipal water purification and wastewater treatment plants, among others – providing a critical public service, as part of building a community that is sustainable in the long term.

SKELLEFTEHAMN

Loading up for Northvolt Major investment in safety improvements at the Norrköping terminal WIBAX HAS BUILT a double-skin cistern for liquid chemicals at the terminal in Norrköping. With a double-skin construction, a second layer is built around the current tank. The radius between the inner and outer tank is one metre, meaning that the outer part has enough capacity to hold the entire volume of the inner tank in the event of an accident. The tank in question is 20 metres tall, made of sheet steel and has a storage capacity of 10,000 tons of liquid chemicals.

Wibax has a total of 19 terminals, found in strategic locations throughout Sweden, Finland and Estonia. All of Wibax' terminals are of a very high standard, meeting high demands for safety. Among other things, there is a clear strategy to install bunding. Bunding is 10

a safety measure which prevents leakage and contamination of the surrounding environment, thus preventing both personal and environmental harm in the event of an accident. “Long-term, serious investment in safety is a crucial part of our operations”, explains Anders Skoog, Operations Manager, Wibax Terminals.

SWEDEN'S LARGEST INDUSTRIAL INVESTMENT in modern history, is now underway 12 km from the Wibax depot in Skelleftehamn. The 500,000 square metre battery plant that is now under construction, will deliver batteries for 800,000 electric vehicles every year, and is expected to create 10,000 new jobs. Northvolt's establishment in Skellefteå has sparked a strong belief in the future, and additional establishments are expected as part of the battery cluster that is now being built, putting Skellefteå on the world map. Skellefteå is now building new schools and housing. Highways are rerouted and widened. The port is being dredged, and the potential construction of the Norrbotniabanan railroad is said to depend on Northvolt's establishment. Northvolt estimates that construction will be ongoing over the next five years, however, battery production is expected to begin as early as 2021.

A battery factory of the type that Northvolt is building will require large amounts of chemicals and energy. As we, in the north of Sweden, have good ac-

cess to fossil free energy, this means that Northvolt may well succeed in their ambition to produce the world's greenest battery. In 2020, Wibax has invested in two new terminals in Skelleftehamn. The investments increase the number of tanks by an additional 22 cisterns, with a total storage capacity of 94,000 cubic metres. Wibax has a total of 44 cisterns, offering 177,000 cubic metres of storage capacity in Skellefteå. This provides good opportunities to handle products delivered by ship, rail and tanker trucks. The major transition that the world is now going through, as we are electrifying logistics in order to create a more sustainable future, will affect all of us in one some way or other. Wibax finds itself in the midst of Europe's largest investment in battery production. Wibax' existing, well-functioning terminal in Skelleftehamn, just 12 kliometres away from the Northvolt factory, is now home to all currently available tanks in the Skellefteå area. The future is looking bright for Wibax, and for northern Sweden, as industrial history is now being made, right here in our back yard.

in a terminal in Gävle, with the goal of continuing to strengthen our distribution chain. "By investing in terminals of our own, we ensure that we are close to our customers, thus minimising the need for tanker truck transportation to the greatest possible extent. WIBAX HAS INVESTED

Wibax has a total of 19 terminals in strategic locations throughout Sweden, Finland and Estonia. All of the terminals are of a very high standard, meeting high security requirements. The new terminal in Gävle is also in good condition, and in compliance with all regulatory requirements. It lies adjacent to the port and has the capacity to handle transports by ship, rail and tanker truck. The Gävle terminal has a 6,000 m3 cistern. Wibax' terminals currently have a total capa-

city of approximately 800,000 m3 of liquid products. "For Wibax, it is incredibly important to make serious, long-term investments that allow us to operate in close proximity to our customers, so that we can provide efficient logistics, according to sound and responsible principles", explains Magnus Sundström, Managing Director WIBAX Logistics.

FAIR TRANSPORT FACTS Fair Transport is a way for road transport companies to showcase sustainability efforts with regard to climate and the environment, traffic safety and social responsibility. Sustainability data is collected across these fields, summarised and made available to the public. Fair Transport is a tool for sustainable business, and an effective channel for purchasers of logistics services to find information about hauliers and their sustainability work.

INCREASED NET LOAD IN 2020

OUR VEHICLE FLEET WAS EXPANDED with two new 74 ton trucks, and eight more were renovated for an increased net load, resulting in a combined increase of about 40 tons of loading capacity. Wibax now has a tanker fleet with approximately 50 vechicles, delivering liquid chemicals and bio oils to customers, primarily in the paper and pulp industries, but also to other industries. Pictured here is the latest addition to the fleet, a tanker with a total weight of 74 tons, based in Piteå.

LUMA FOUAD has a permanent contract as a lab technician at WIBAX.

WIBAX ACADEMY

Trainee programme for immigrants WIBAX WORKS TO CREATE AN INCLUSIVE workplace and diversity is necessary for development. One step towards creating such diversity is Wibax Academy – Good Chemistry For More of Us, a trainee programme geared towards immigrants. The project was carried out in collaboration with Piteå Council and the Swedish Public Employment Service, and gave twelve candidates the opportunity to try working in various areas at Wibax, such as production, maintenance, mechanics, lab work, purchasing, marketing and finance, while receiving mentoring. The project was carried out between in the period January-May 2020, and is an initiative to keep employees in Piteå, while also taking social responsibility. As Wibax grows, there is a need for skills across several different sectors, and the company sees many benefits in establishing better contact with this particular target group. The Wibax trainee programe gave six people with an immigrant background the opportunity to enter the labour market. Out of those who completed the programme, all have found work, 66% of them at Wibax and the others with other employees. All programme participants have remained in Piteå, and have managed to enter fields that they previously had no access to. LUMA FOUAD WHO PARTICIPATED in the project found permanent employment as a lab technician at Wibax. She is part of the Wibax Technology division and now spends much of her days in Wibax' large, newly-built laboratory. Luma is from Iraq and came to Sweden with her fa-

mily in 2015. In her home country, she was an engineer at the University of Mosul, where she worked with environmental monitoring of water and construction materials. At Wibax, Luma works as a lab technician, analysing the products purchased and sold by Wibax. She also does environmental analysis within the company. What does a typical day at work look like? "Every day is a new challenge for me, as there are rarely two alike, and that is what makes work exciting. I have been working at Wibax for about a year now, and I still learn something new every day." What is the best thing about working at Wibax? "The best thing about it is to work at a large, growing company where the colleagues are friendly, helpful and treat each other with respect." What did you think about the Wibax Academy trainee programme? "The trainee programme was an important step for me, leading to a whole new life here in Sweden. It taught me how a job works, and gave me valuable experiences." Do you have any word of advice for other immigrants when it comes to getting into the labour market? "My best advice is to never give up, always look for a job, even if it is something simple, it will teach you how the system works here in Sweden. It will feel difficult and stressful at the beginning, but over time it will just get better and better", Luma Foad concludes.
