Basketball Camp

Basketball Fundamentals Camp is offered in two sessions: June 16-19 and June 23-26, Monday through Thursday from 9 a.m. to noon. Camp is for boys and girls age 5 to 16, excluding high school graduates. Cost is $105 per session. Basketball Shooting/Offensive Skills Camp is offered in two sessions: June 16-19 and June 23-26, Monday through Thursday from 1 to 2:30 p.m. Camp is for boys and girls ages 10 to 16 (excluding high school graduates). Soccer Camp

Barton soccer camps are held at the college’s outdoor athletic complex on Kincaid Avenue. For more information contact Matt Akins at mgakins@barton.edu. Multi-camp and multi-sibling discounts are available for all camps. Note that in the youth evening camps there is a “little kickers” option for 3- to 5-year-olds. Youth Evening Camp is offered in two sessions: June 16 to 19 and July 14-17 from 5 to 8 p.m. Cost is $100. For boys and girls ages 3 to 13 High School Boys Prep Camp is July 12-13 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Cost is $100. For boys ages 14 to 18.

Baseball Camp

Tennis Camp

Camp is June 16-19 at the Barton College Tennis Complex from 9 to 11 a.m., and 11:15 to noon for swimming for ages 5 to 11. Time for ages 12 to 17 is 9 a.m. to noon for all tennis. Cost is $100. Golf Camp

Camp is at Willow Spring Country Club June 16-18 and is open to ages 6 to 17. Cost is $120 for 9 a.m. to noon (recommended for younger children) or $200

Wilson Tobs

Football Camp

The Wilson Police Department Police Athletic League will host its annual football camp at the Fike High School soccer field for ages 9 to 14. Dates are June 16-19 from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m. each day. Applications can be picked up from the Wilson Police Department at 120 N. Goldsboro St.

Play Camp

Camp is for ages 2 to 4 and is held Monday through Friday, June 16-Aug. 22 at Wilson Recreation Park. Hours are 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Cost is $50 per week for city residents and $75 for non-residents. 399-2285.

Children learned to make decorative cupcakes at an Arts Council of Wilson camp last year. They will have that same chance again this year at the Arts Council of Wilson and Wilson Parks and Recreation Center. Gray Whitley | Times Camp is June 16-20 for ages 5 to 8 and July 7-11 for ages 9 to 12 at the Wilson Recreation Park. Hours are 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Cost is $65 per week for city residents and $97 for non-residents. 399-2285.

Class times are 6:30 to 7:10 p.m. and 7:15 to 7:55 p.m. Adults ages 18 and up have class from 8 to 8:40 p.m. City residents pay $25 per session; non-residents pay $37.

Golf Camp

Swim America

Tot lessons for ages 2-3 are June 4-July 2 on Tuesdays and Thursdays or July 10-Aug. 8 on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 5:45 to 6:15 p.m. One parent/ adult must be in the water with the child at all times. Youth morning classes are for ages 4 and up and are offered Monday through Friday June 9-20, June 23July 3, July 7-18 and July 21-Aug. 1. Hours are 9 to 9:40 a.m., 9:45 to 10:25 a.m. and 10:30 to 11:15 a.m. Night classes are offered on Tuesdays and Thursdays June 3-July 3 and July 8-Aug. 7 for ages 4 and up.

Lake Wilson Tennis Club

Summer in the Dirt is June 23-27 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Campers will learn about archaeology and paleontology. Cost is $160 for members and $180 for non-members.

The Science and History of Comic Illustration is July 21-25 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Learn about the history and science behind comic book illustration in this class taught by professional comic book illustrator Louis Small Jr., who has drawn for Marvel, DC Comics and dozens of other comic book and trading card companies since 1992. Cost is $135 for members and $145 for non-members. Fiber Camp is Aug. 4-8 from 9 a.m. to noon. Learn about weaving techniques that have barely changed over time. Cost is $65 for members and $75 for nonmembers.

Camps for ages 11 and up

RPi1: Meet the Raspberry Pi is July 21-25 from 9 a.m. to noon. Raspberry Pi is a credit-card sized computer that was created to teach computer science and programming. Participants will learn how to write computer code in Python and will keep their Raspberry Pi at the end of the class. Cost is $120 for members and $135 non-members. RPi2: Another Slice of Pi is Aug 4-8, from 9 a.m. to noon. Part Two of Raspberry Pi camp is for students who have completed RPi1. Cost is $70 for members and $85 non-members.

Youth Leadership Development Camps

This camp is designed to help middle and high school students begin to think about what it means to be a leader. Session 1 (for homeschoolers) is June 2-5 from 9 a.m. to noon and is for ages 14-17. Cost is $110 for members and $125 for non-members. Session 2 is for ages 12-14 and is July 14-18, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Cost is $225 for members and $250 for nonmembers. Session 3 is for ages 14-15 and is Aug. 4-8, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Cost is $225 for members and $250 for non-members.

Megan’s Academy of Dance

Dance Camp will include a time of dance instruction as well as arts, crafts and fun events. Younger dancers will grow in their knowledge of technique and dance skills. True Elements of Carving is from 9 a.m. to noon for elementary and middle school students. The Wilson Woodcarvers, with Jim McGuire as lead teacher, will teach this class that includes the basics of woodcarving using age-appropriate and safe materials. Outdoor Art, taught by Anna Batts, will include lots of fun outdoor activities. Learn to make chalk, bubbles, decorative bubble wands and

bandana flip-flops. Class is 9 a.m. to noon and is for elementary students. Alternative Photographic Processes is taught by Christine Zuercher for older elementary students and middle school students. Experiment with non-darkroom based photography and learn how to construct photographs with printing processes like cyanotype, lumen printing and Polaroid lifts and transfers. Class is 1 to 4 p.m. Cupcake Kids, taught by Meagan Culkin, is for younger elementary students who will learn the fundamentals of baking cupcakes, cookies and other sweet treats. Word and Body Play for younger elementary students is taught by Amanda McCullum. Students will experience reading in the most fun way possible — through the body. Class is 9 a.m. to noon. Camp is 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Mixed Media Collages and Visual Journals is taught by Michelle Perez for older elementary and middle school students. Students will use mixed media to make collages. Sweet Treats by Meagan Culkin is for older elementary and middle school students who will learn to make all kinds of different sweet treats, ranging from cookie cakes, fruity desserts, whoopie pies, dessert bars, and more. Wait! Don’t Toss That

Camp is Aug. 4-8 from 9 a.m. to noon for ages 11 to 14. Take a trip to the ultimate junk yard in Durham and turn trash into treasure. Cost is $95.

Wait! Let’s Paint That

Camp is July 19, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., for ages 10 to 13. This one-day workshop is for painting furniture and other interesting objects. Cost is $50.
