“Newsweek Magazine is a powerful combination of news, culture and ideas with a clear point of view: we get the final say on major stories of the day.” Source: Jim Impoco, Newsweek EIC

History Founded by Thomas J.C. Martyn, Newsweek was first published in February 17, 1933. That issue, called “News–Week,” cost 10 cents a copy ($4 for a year) and had a circulation of 50,000. In 1943, Newsweek created a pocket-sized edition of the magazine for troops in Europe. The Washington Post Company bought Newsweek in 1961 and, in 1972, announced a major expansion program for the international editions that was designed to convert Newsweek

into the first truly global newsmagazine. The current owner is IBT Media, who purchased Newsweek in August 2013 from IAC/DailyBeast. Newsweek provides in-depth analysis, news and opinion about international issues, technology, business, culture and politics. Newsweek magazine is a premium, luxury, full-colour, perfect-bound weekly product.

The New Newsweek Since August 2013, Newsweek’s new management has made Newsweek a truly global news organization operating across all major platforms: print, digital, mobile, events and social media. The relaunch of Newsweek’s print edition took place in March 2014 with a complete re-designed magazine and a long-term commitment to publishing a premium-quality weekly magazine produced by a dedicated editorial team. Newsweek is now more aesthetically pleasing with 100# cover stock, 60# paper stock and perfect bound. Newsweek publishes print editions in Japanese, Korean, Polish, Spanish, Arabic, and Turkish, as

well as an English language international edition distributed within the United States and the EMEA (Europe Middle-East and Africa) regions. Newsweek magazine is written with a global perspective for a global audience. Each week, it offers comprehensive coverage of world events with a distinguished team of correspondents, reporters and editors covering international issues, technology, business, culture, and politics. Newsweek has launched a new app available for iOS and Android devices to offer their readers the possibility to also enjoy the digital version of the magazine, enhancing interactive experience.
