Warm Clarity is both a real life and Second Life artist. Warm has found inspiration in her art work to work with the fashion line, Ghee, in Second Life. Windlight was able to sit down with Warm to discuss art, fashion, and more! WM: Where does your artistic influence come from? When did you first started creating art in real life and Second Life? WARM: Growing up surrounded by a love of the arts by both parents, my natural instinct to draw and keep drawing obsessively was nurtured by both of them and the massive collection of fantasy art and fine art books surrounding me in childhood. Inspired by literature, graphic novels of the 1970s and artists of the Impressionist and Surrealist movements my work tends to vary in style and subject matter yet still maintain the trademark flowing natural curves that dominates every piece. As unnatural as my work looks all subject matter tends to lean toward subjects of horticulture and biology – nature. As far as when I started creating art in real life, it goes all the way back to my early youth and my 40
love of drawing unicorns and rainbows. I never stop. I only evolve, progress and never look back. I am currently in my Junior year at university for my Bachelor of Fine Arts in Painting ad Drawing. I have been challenged a lot recently exploring the styles of master artists. Recently I learned that I do not like to paint with dry brush. I need to blend. My artwork in Second Life has only been bringing my real life work in world, however I am beginning to have ideas of ways I might produce artwork in world through photography and installation work. WM: Tell us about Ghee. What type of clothing do you create? How do you infuse art at Ghee? WARM: The idea of Ghee started in 2011, I wanted to make clothing that I wanted to wear. I began experimenting with animated textures on mesh and sparks flew in my head. Ghee has evolved to include several different designs that utilize animated textures and began creating actual collections with mix and match pieces much like real life designer collections. Our designs are a varied mixture of
styles which provides something for every mood or occasion. Art is infused into Ghee beginning with our color palette and design elements chosen for a collection. It really is all about the colors. Some of my real life art has been brought in to Second Life to texture a small fine art collection. I plan to produce more fine art collections in the future. WM: How do you describe your artistic style? WARM: My artistic style is hard to describe as it is ever changing and evolving. One thing I can say is that my skill in color combination is a constant. I am happiest when painting in oils or drawing in pastels.
photos for the series done by Absinthe of Ferosh. Ghee provided designs for Art in Hats 2015 and our auction item was a record breaking sale for the event. The hat was inspired by a real painting of mine entitled Retinal Damage.
WM: When creating art, how do you select the types of materials you use? WARM: Most pieces are full of vibrant contrasting color combinations through the use of oils, acrylics, opaque water colors (gouache), prism color -pencils, markers, art sticks chalk pastels, and oil pastels with the occasional venture into pen and ink, charcoals and graphite. I usually select my medium before I select my subject.
With these two mediums my work is best with intensive blending. WM: Are you creating art and WM: When did you decide ok, fashion in any other virtual lets transfer my artistic style to worlds? AN INSIDE LOOK AT THE LINDEN ENDOWMENT FOR THE ARTS (LEA) ROUND 10 EXHIBITIONS

The first of the year ushered in the start of the Linden Endowment of the Arts (LEA) Round 10 Exhibitions for their artist in residence program. This program gives artists in Second Life, the chance to use a sim for 6 months, to create an approved exhibition. As we are nearing the halfway point of Round 10, Windlight has decided to feature some of these great exhibitions.

UP AND AWAY: BALLOONING IN SL WRITER AND PHOTOGRAPHY: ILYRA CHARDIN 103
When I look back on my early days in Second Life, other than endless shopping trips and clubbing, one of my fondest memories is riding the trains, hot air balloons, boats, and other rides. I can remember boarding a giant wasp at Svarga to explore the SIM and learn about the builder’s experiment. I rode countless trains, including the train that crossed the multiple SIMs of a very well-known, respected landscaping designer’s Bliss Gardens. And, of course, I took many, many balloon rides. Yes, we’ve always been able to fly on our own, to soar across the SIMs, exploring. Yet there is still something very magical about boarding a hot air balloon with a close friend or friends. For a time on SL, it seemed to me as though these rides had reached their peak and had begun a slow decline. I can remember searching for activities that included trains, balloons, boats, and found a limited selection. As this was only a personal experience, I wasn’t quite sure if I just wasn’t searching properly or if, in fact, programmed rides had become passé’.

Recently, however, I was delighted to discover a resurgence in balloon tours. I was thrilled by the extensive balloon tour of Calas Galadhon, which is depicted in one of the art pieces, Balloon Tours, accompanying this article. This pieces shows only a tiny portion of the Calas Galadhon SIMs that I explored with my friend Rocky. Another beautifully landscaped SIM that I recently toured in a hot air balloon is Caymen Shores. My very enjoyable ride is depicted in Balloon Over the Gorge. Celebration was based upon the balloon at Crystal Garden’s initial build on their new SIM. The SIM has been redesigned and is depicted in Sunrise at the Lake and Balloon Festival. I visited numerous, well-designed SIMs in preparation for this article. So if you are looking for something different to do in SL, a simple search of hot air balloons will provide you with a list of many places that offer rides for your entertainment. WM

She told me that, "I most frequently attend Klannex's Plunder at 6AM on Saturdays. I attend Circe's New Poets' Sanctuary 5-7PM on Saturdays. On Sundays, Spoken Word 12-1:30PM at Inksters. I go to Poetry Prompt 11AM weekdays and Wolfie's Poetry Surf 1PM. Then of course, my home turf, the oldest established permanent floating poets' dive in SL, The Blue Angel Poets' Dive every Sunday 5PM to when at the end of each session, we dance on the bar. Viola! I have brought to you another one of Second Life's most famed poets. I hope that you enjoyed my talk with Grail. I hope that you actually search for her to hear that wonderful voice she has. And, I hope that if you go to the Blue Angel's Poet Dive session, you too will dance on the bar!

VOYAGES WITH VEE: ARTBOX

Art Box is an immersive art gallery some cases a box of props you can wear or use to help complete the where YOU become part of the scene. All you have to do is sit on art. The gallery, created and the pose ball provided and take curated by Frankie Rockett and your photos. Violet Sweetwater, contains different paintings and photos using famous images from the art There’s something for everyone! You’ll find art by Van world and modern culture. The Gogh, Salvador Dali, Edward second and third level of the Hopper, Vermeer and pop culture building contain 79 different icons such as the Simpsons, scenes each displayed on an art box. When you click on the art box Forbidden Planet, and the First Man on the Moon. They also have you will teleport to level one where the scene will appear. which captures the romantic moment and provides an engagement ring just in case you forgot to bring your own.
Playing Poker or appear as the Mona Lisa? I would suggest that you take time to visit and rez a few scenes before you decide to take your photos so you can see what they actually look like, if there are any props available, and create your look and outfit for the actual shoot. This is extremely important if you are there when there is a queue for the space because those three minutes tick by very quickly. You might also want to temporarily derender some of the build to take the perfect photo. I had to do this with the Moulin Rouge scene because the pose ball sits you within a black box. When you temporarily derender the black box you are then perfectly situated between Moulin and Rouge.
If no one is waiting you can rez the scene and take all the time you need to create your style and take as many photos as your heart desires. Several times when I went to use the system for this article there were 4-5 people patiently waiting their turn. Art Box only allows one scene to be rezzed at any time and if others are waiting the system will automatically assign three minutes to each session. When the three minutes are up the scene will disappear and the one chosen by the next individual will appear. This can provide for an interesting photo opportunity, especially when you’re dressed as the Man on the Moon and all of a sudden you appear in Edward Hopper’s depression era painting Some of the scenes offered can accommodate groups or couples so Nighthawks. bring along your friends and snap Art Box is the perfect venue for the away. You’ll also find a group joiner beginning photographer who wants and access to the Art Box Flickr to experiment with camera angles page with almost 700 photos taken and lighting against various by visitors and members of the backdrops. It’s also fun to put group. Enjoy. WM yourself in so many recognizable scenes. Where else can you put http://maps.secondlife.com/ yourself into the painting Dogs secondlife/Klaw/6/21/47 142
