Autumn is a time of transformation in the Hunter Valley. The recent rains turned our vistas a vibrant green, and the long rows of vines transformed from their deep emerald to a multitude of red, orange and purple shades before the leaves began to fall, ready for the Winter months (and a good prune!) It’s a beautiful time in the Valley, and the wines that come with this particular season are as varied as the colours of the falling leaves.
This month we focus on blended wines. Blending wines of different varieties and vineyards has been practised for centuries. Read more on page 28.
Hot air ballooning has been around since 1783 when a rooster, a duck and a sheep went for a 15-minute test ride in France! Luckily visitors to the Hunter Valley don’t have to share a basket with farm animals and get to fly with the world’s best pilots at Balloon Aloft! Read more on page 12.
