As with this warrior prince, at Tamburlaine Wines our passion for change and constant improvement is the driving force behind our success throughout Australia and around the world. Hunter Valley, NSW Old vines, low yields, unique styles, classic aging wines. The magnificent landscape that is so typical of the Hunter region is home to Tamburlaine’s 13 Ha vineyard in the Pokolbin area and Wattlebrook, which is a 22Ha vineyard in the Broke/Fordwich area. Other organically run Hunter vineyards also provide fruit to the winery. Tamburlaine varieties from the Hunter region include‌.. White Varieties Semillon Verdelho Chardonnay Viognier Red Varieties Shiraz (Syrah) Cabernet Sauvignon Chambourcin Durif Muscadelle

By 2010 all Tamburlaine vineyards were fully certified either organic or biodynamic.


Orange Region, NSW Volcanic basalt, over 800m altitude, cool, slow ripening, pristine varietals. Orange is a cool climate wine region defined by a minimum altitude of 600 metres to over 1000 metres, and is dominated by the extinct volcano of Mount Canobolas. NE facing slopes provide natural protection from frost risk. The 100 Ha Borenore Vineyard and, a little further west, the 30Ha Coole Park Vineyard, both at 870 metres, provide the core of Tamburlaine’s fruit including... White Varieties Sauvignon Blanc, Riesling, Chardonnay & Marsanne Red Varieties Merlot, Shiraz (Syrah), Cabernet Sauvignon, Malbec, Grenache, Petit Verdot, Cabernet Franc.

The Limited Reserve bottlings each year are well worth tasting! Each vintage is unique, with fruit sourced from our vineyards in the Hunter Valley and Orange Highlands. From there, attention to detail in the winery is of paramount importance to the winemakers to produce the best results possible in the bottle. The wines are flavoursome and approachable when young, yet have a fine pedigree for aging.

Consistently superior, guilt-free wine Tamburlaine's farms exclude the use of herbicides, pesticides and fungicides, resulting in a natural wine that is full of flavour and devoid of chemical residue. We use minimum sulphur additions within the Australian Organic Standard to ensure quality during bottle maturation. Our practices protect our fruit without damaging the natural eco-system. We use well proven, naturally occurring & biological inputs in the vineyards.

In 1996, we extended our sustainable philosophy to incorporate organic and biodynamic viticultural practices, and by 2010, all our vineyards were fully certified either Organic or Biodynamic. It’s the wine you can indulge in without the guilt.

This ensures the production of a consistently high quality wine. Since 1996, Tamburlaine has been a pioneer of organic viticulture and winemaking practices in Australia. At Tamburlaine, winemaking finds a comfortable balance between creativity and science. Our winemakers are professionals with a commitment to the best of modern technology with respect for the great Australian winemaking traditions.
