Departing from Willits and Fort Bragg
MValley has the distinction of being home to California’s first millionaire and town founder, Samuel Brannan. His life is what movie scripts are made of: an entrepreneur with a pioneering spirit is catalyzed by the Gold Rush, reaching staggering fame and fortune only to lose it all in a divorce and be forced to sell pencils before dying penniless. Each chapter of Brannan’s colorful story is expertly captured and retold at the new Calistoga Depot Distillery. This exciting new project from master vintner Jean-Charles Boisset, proprietor of the Boisset Collection, harnesses each award-winning spirit’s essence, paying homage not only to Brannan’s personal tales, but the history of the region itself.
The distillery’s expansive tasting room is housed in California’s second oldest railway station, built by Sam Brannan in 1868. A complete restoration of the interior – from the original hardwood floors to the exposed wooden ceiling planks which soar up to heritage wood rafters – imparts an authentic sense of place. Two large glimmering copper stills anchor the stunning tasting bar, beckoning guests to sip and explore their range of spirits. The upstairs loft offers casual group and private tasting lounges with visual imagery of Sam Brannan’s legacy beautifully woven throughout the space. The Depot will be open into the evening so come relax after a day of touring to imbibe a craft cocktail off their seasonal menu created by Director of Spirits, Anthony Attanasio.
The debut of the Calistoga Depot Distillery spirits portfolio is a culmination of the years of work that it took to develop a collection that portrays the best in artisan distilling in Northern California interwoven with our unique savoir-faire. This is expressed through our expertise in terroir, the art of refining spirits in our own wine barrels, and a deep passion for the history of distilling in the region.
– JEAN-CHARLES BOISSET Proprietor & President of Boisset CollectionReleased last fall to great fanfare, the premium collection of barrel-aged and wine-cask whiskeys, bourbon, vodka, gin, brandy have already garnered over 34 awards from the likes of The Fifty Best and received a Master Medal award from The Spirits Business’ American Whiskey Masters.
Leveraging Boisset’s vast knowledge of terroir through blending, tasting, and finishing processes, each spirit is crafted in the same vein, highlighting quality ingredients in the distilling process. For their winebarrel aged gin and malted barley and rye whiskeys, Boisset called upon the master distiller powerhouses of Ashby & Timo Marshall and Crispin Cain to custom-produce ingredient-forward blends. Retired French and American oak wine-casks once used to house Boisset’s premium Napa Valley and Sonoma County wines now gracefully age the spirits for an extended period to yield smooth, complex flavor profiles.
THE FIRST MILLIONAIRE: Malted barley whiskeys named for the fortune Samuel Brannan. (SRPs $75-$125).
FAME & MISFORTUNE: Rye-forward whiskeys named after the bohemian temptress of the time, Lola Montez. (SRPs $150-$200).
PROSPEROUS AND PENNILESS: Whiskeys and a barrel-aged gin from Master Distiller Crispin referencing Sam Brannan’s spectacular prosperity and subsequent financial ruin. (SRPs $200-$300).
THE CALISTOGA STAR: Barrel-aged fine brandy. Inspired by The California Star, San Francisco’s first newspaper founded by Samuel Brannan. (SRPs $75-$400).
CALISTOGA DEPOT DISTILLERY 1868: Distillery-exclusives. Gin, Vodka, and Rum. Tribute to the year 1868, which marks the year that Samuel Brannan built a railroad into Calistoga.
“ We have known Jorge and Roberto and their family for more than two decades and have always dreamt of creating a tequila that united their family with ours. They bring the founding history of tequila, while we represent the heritage of wine and barrel-finishing.”
– JEAN-CHARLES BOISSET Proprietor & President of Boisset CollectionThe jewel of this exciting venture is an icon-tier tequila, Casa Obsidiana. The heritage-made fine sipping tequila collection draws inspiration from more than 250 years’ experience in family tequila making and the volcanic soil found at the base of Volcán de Tequila. This earth is also rich in the highly revered obsidian stone. An important totem in Mexican culture, this dark rock has been used in rituals for millennia to cleanse oneself of negative influences and make space for light, passion, and positive intention within us.
Casa Obsidiana embraces these Divine Elements for its handcrafted tequilas, uniting three extraordinary makers to create a fusion of wine and spirit. In collaboration with Jorge and Roberto Beckmann Gonzalez, eighth-generation tequila producers, and Master Tequilero, Francisco Quijana, the trio integrates modern Mexican art and estate-grown, 100% Blue Weber agave with the skill of world-class winemaking.
Using a proprietary yeast strain and distillation process, the spirit is then “rested” in French oak barrels which formerly aged Boisset’s Napa Valley Chardonnay. Intentionally made for savoring, the complex and smooth tequila is nuanced with soft vanilla notes, a direct result of the vanillin compounds imparted from the spent oak barrels.
A nod to Mexican Cubanism, each abstract bottle reflects elements of this ancient land. Crafted by regional ceramists, the bottles are graced with a hand polished obsidian stone at the neck, and the different colors reveal each style’s origin story. The deep red of the Añejo tequila bottle is meant to embody the iron-rich volcanic earth of the agave fields; the teal blue of the Reposado bottle represents the Blue Webber agave plant and the fluidity of pure water, an integral ingredient in fine tequila; and the creamy sand color of the Blanco tequila vessel symbolizes agave piña, the heart of the agave plant.
CASA OBSIDIANA BLANCO: Aged 16 days. Aromas of papaya, white flowers, vanilla, and allspice. Lush mouthfeel with notes of vegetation and black pepper. (SRP $190)
CASA OBSIDIANA REPOSADO: Aged for four months. Aromas of hazelnut, toffee, charred peppers, and stewed citrus. Warm baking spices, caramel, and earthy agave on the palate. (SRP $250)
CASA OBSIDIANA AÑEJO: Aged for 15 months. Aromas of oak, coffee, clove, and candied citrus. Layered flavors of butterscotch, cinnamon, raisins, and roasted agave. (SRP $330)
The thematic style of the Depot’s rail cars creates a natural gathering place for the community and visitors. The Casa Obsidiana Car, named for the tequila collection, serves reimagined traditional Mexican specialties and handcrafted margaritas; The First Millionaire’s Saloon (named after Sam Brannan) is a whiskey-focused saloon with saddles for seats and the décor is curated with antique pieces found throughout California’s Gold Country. The Oyster & Champagne Bar car sparkles with a chic ocean vibe pairing fresh oysters and caviar with a selection of bubbly from California, France, and beyond. In the specialty chocolatier car, Earth & Sky Chocolates creates handmade European-style bonbons and confections rooted in pure and decadent ingredients. The Depot Wine Merchant will offer a diverse selection of wines from Napa Valley and beyond. Connected to the Distillery and facing Calistoga’s main street are thoughtfully sourced Provisions provided by Nova Terra Kitchen & Creamery, who offer a curated collection of local artisanal and eco-friendly offerings. The to-go food offerings feature an array of plant-based options, early morning coffee, baked goods and items to stock up for your day in wine country with a picnic lunch.
The Beer Garden behind the distillery will feature a unique selection of brews in an ideal comfortable outdoor setting along with elevated bar fare. Live music on the weekends will provide the ambiance for lively entertainment while dining.
The fourth unique dining option is provided by Nova Terra Kitchen & Creamery offering a seasonal menu of plant-based comfort food drawing inspiration from around the world, focusing on local, fresh and organic ingredients.
Head to the outdoor patio bar and enjoy impressive wines, classic and fresh seasonal cocktails and mocktails, and a selection of local beers, ciders, kombuchas and elixirs.
In The Wine Room enjoy a selection of more than 16 self-serve wines while immersing yourself in an interactive sensory experience. Hand-blown glass globes as a tool to help identify unique characteristics of your wine. Within each globe are representations of wine varietals created with both visual and aromatic elements to enhance both your tasting knowledge and palate.

Planning a visit to Sonoma County? Being Wine Country, you will be visiting some of the many great wineries and spending several days wine tasting. As Sonoma County boasts many fine restaurants that focus on farm-to-table fresh food, plus a varied selection of Michelin-recognized restaurants, you will want to avail yourself of the great wine and food experience.
But don’t forget the cheese!
While planning your Sonoma Wine Country adventure, check out the California Cheese Trail Map (www. cheesetrail.org), and take a day (or two) exploring some of the many creameries and specialty cheese shops in this wine and food area. The family-owned farms, and artisan creameries producing mouth-watering cheeses will not only delight you but will make you smile and say: “Cheese!” This isn’t just wine country, it’s cheese country as well!
By Don SonderlingYes, that is a word! Meaning: “an establishment where cheese is made.”
Here are a few to consider visiting. Have fun while tasting some of Sonoma County’s finest locally made cheeses, and meeting local farmers, cheese makers, and cheese lovers!
Bohemian Creamery has been producing artisanal, small-lot cheeses for seventeen years. Walking into their store, the mixed aromas of cheese are amazing – and you are immediately in the mood for cheese! Cheeses from goats, cows, sheeps, and water buffalos are made on-site, and yes, they sample! For an immersive, fun, educational, behind-the-scenes experience, plan to take a tour of their facility on weekends at 1:00 pm (please book in advance). Sample the cheeses, but of the approximate 17 kinds of cheese made, you MUST try the G.R.I.T.S. (hint: it’s stuffed with cajeta – but I’ll let your taste buds explain more). If Matthew or Abbey are serving you, they are full of knowledge and fun facts not only about Bohemian but about all of the cheeses they make.
Consider joining their Cheese-of-the-EveryOther-Month Club, for yourself or your friends.
Marin French Cheese Co. is the country’s oldest cheese company, operating at its historic creamery in Marin County since 1865. The historic creamery marries traditional French cheesemaking techniques with California’s terroir and innovative spirit to produce award-winning and original cheeses. Made with high-quality local ingredients, its cheeses reflect one of life’s simplest and most authentic pleasures: experiencing good food.
Visit Marin French Cheese Co.’s shop to try a selection of soft-ripened style cheeses, as well as artisan goat cheese from sister brand, Laura Chenel. Cheeses you may sample (and then go home with) include Petite Jalapeño, Petite Truffle, or the delightful washed rind triple crème cheese, Golden Gate. This year, the country’s oldest cheese company took home four medals at World Cheese Awards 2023 including Silver for Petite Ash and Bronze for Petite Crème, Petite Suprême, and Golden Gate. Additionally, the brand’s Petite Jalapeno claimed the first-place award at the 2023 American Cheese Society Conference.
In addition to tasting your way through the world of cheese, you can stay on their 700-acre property for a picnic! Guests can pick up cheese, crackers, and other accompaniments in the shop, or have a made-toorder sandwich, then take it out to the picnic area adjacent to a pond and enjoy the beautiful weather of Marin County. For more information, visit marinfrenchcheese.com.
Nicasio Valley Cheese Company, leading the way in sustainable dairy practices since 1919, (producing cheeses since 2010) is a third-generation family operation. This is the only 100% organic certified cow’s milk farmstead cheese produced in California. Pasteurization, production, aging, packaging, and sales are on site … in fact, watch the production through the viewing window!
Making ten different artisanal cheeses, with milk from their dairy, pasteurized on-site within hours of milking, and transported to the facility, where the cheesemaking process begins, cheese doesn’t get any fresher than this! Nicasio cheeses are winners of many prestigious awards, including their Foggy Morning (six-time national awardwinning Fromage Blanc) and their San Geronimo (six-time national award-winning Raclette-style cheese). A visit to this artisanal creamery, and “cheese education” by Flo is so worth the visit, while enjoying a beautiful drive along the country road.

Petaluma Creamery/Springhill Cheese Co. has been in business for over 100 years and is another mainstay of the community. Owner, Larry Peter (of a fifth-generation agricultural family) has been a dairy farmer since 1987 and purchased the Petaluma Creamery in 2004. Milk is sourced from about a dozen small, local family farmers, GMO and hormone-free. Choose from up to thirty different cheeses when you visit the historic building. If you are lucky enough, you may even get a creamery tour from Larry. But wait! Do not visit without trying some of the creamery’s delicious ice cream! This is not only the home of Springhill Jersey Cheese – it is the home of healthy and delicious!
Valley Ford Cheese and Creamery is another family operation, but fairly “new,” having been established in 2008. Come sample cheese from cows that graze 365 days a year, on pastureland that is certified organic, and never treated with GMOs or hormones. Enjoy a cheese flight and charcuterie board on your visit or knock your socks off melted cheese sandwich. Before you leave, however, you will want to savor the smoothest, creamiest soft-serve ice cream you have ever tasted. Winners of several awards in various cheese competitions, you will give your salivary glands a real treat when you enjoy Valley Ford cheeses, and taste why Valley Ford has won several United States (2019 & 2023) and World Championship (2023) cheese competitions.
Once you visit many of the creameries and specialty cheese shops in the west Sonoma County area, you will have a new appreciation of not only cheeses but also how these creameries, dairies, and family farms are such a part of the community, supporting and promoting healthy delicious cheese (and ice cream), while keeping the tradition alive and focused on the family and continuing traditional practices over generations.

“ We are over the moon with how the 18th Annual California Artisan Cheese Festival has come together for 2024 … it will be a true celebration of the best of California cheese and the makers behind-the-scenes who create the real magic.”
– SARAH SIMMS PRESIDENT OF THE CALIFORNIA ARTISAN CHEESE GUILD AND CO-FOUNDER OF LADY & LARDERCalifornia’s premier cheese festival, the 18th Annual California Artisan Cheese Festival, will take place over three days from March 22-24. A celebration produced by experts and presenters from the world of artisan cheese, the festival promotes broad awareness of the artisan cheesemaking community and enjoyment of its products.

On Saturday, March 23, cheese tastings, pairings and seminars will take place at a variety of wineries, breweries and farms throughout Sonoma County followed by the highly anticipated Cheese Crawl at The Barlow in Sebastopol. favorite farms, creameries and wineries including Toluma Farm, Silver Penny Farm, and Valley Ford Creamery—it will be a true celebration of the best of California cheese and the makers behind-thescenes who create the real magic,” says Sarah Simms, president of the California Artisan Cheese Guild and co-founder of Lady & Larder. She adds, “The California Artisan Cheese Festival has become a three-day event that people travel to Sonoma County for because it’s really the only opportunity for people to get an inside look—they can taste, learn and shop for artisan cheese over three days of incredible events, seminars and tours—there is nothing like getting the chance to meet your favorite cheesemaker at the Cheese Crawl or cuddle with a baby goat on one of the farm tours. Springtime in California is as good as it gets!”
The Festival, which began in March 2007, has grown into three days of cheese tasting, education and celebration that brings together California’s premier cheese makers and offers cheese enthusiasts of all experience levels an unparalleled opportunity to taste and purchase new, limited production, and rare artisan cheeses as well as meet with and sample products from Bay Area farmers, chefs, brewers, winemakers, distillers and artisan food purveyors.

Gloria Ferrer is thrilled to introduce a new sparkling wine. The 2021 Ilumina is a full expression of winemaking prowess and shines a light on the innovative artistry of Gloria Ferrer. It opens with dynamic bursts of white flowers, lively lemon meringue, and vibrant zesty lime. The citrus notes continue on to the palate, complemented by a subtle touch of wet stone and refreshing ripe peach. Beautifully firm acidity rounds out the palate.

Trinchero Napa Valley is rooted in rich family history, a legacy that is embodied in each of the six wines that make up their incredible new lineup. In the late 1940s, Italian Immigrants Mario and Mary Trinchero moved across the country from New York City to California, becoming one of only 15 wineries in the Napa Valley. Over the next 75 years, the Trinchero Family transformed the company into the country’s second largest familyowned winery. And now, Trinchero Napa Valley and their chief Winemaker Landon Donley are overjoyed to officially unveil a whole new portfolio that features six new wines: All The Hats Sauvignon Blanc, All The Hats Cabernet Sauvignon Napa Valley, Sisters-In-Law Chardonnay Napa Valley, Central Park West Cabernet Sauvignon Napa Valley, Traces of Manhatten Red Wine Napa Valley and Tale of Brothers Cabernet Sauvignon Napa Valley.

How often have you heard someone say, “This is a food wine,” while they’re pouring a deeply pigmented Cabernet Sauvignon or a clear as a bell Chardonnay? Any time you’re dealing with a wine brimming with acid and/ or underpinned by massive tannins, food can make it not just better, but downright fantastic. That’s why so many wineries feature an increasingly creative smorgasboard of food and wine pairings.
We’ve collected some of the region’s best culinary experiences, be it breakfast, lunch, dinner or whatever suits your fancy.
Complete with prolific onsite garden managed by Michael de Paolo, Bricoleur in Windsor is a culinary canvas showcasing a trio of talent, including Executie Chef Todd Knoll (Ritz-Carlton SF, Jordan Winery), Culinary Director Chef Thomas Bellec (Four Seasons Resorts and a Master Chef of France) and Senior Sous Chef Rebecca Robinson (Mayacama Winery, Guy Fieri, Chalkboard). Chef Charlie Palmer acts as Culinary Advisor. Their Perfect Pairings include the sixcourse Rooted pairing, three-course Soaring pairing, and Atelier Bricoleur. All take their inspiration from wines crafted by Cary Gott and Bob Cabral.
Executive Chef Ruby Oliveros grew up in the Philippines, which explains dishes like coconut ginger kohlrabi soup paired with Winemaker/GM Joe Nielsen’s 2021 Chardonnay, Bucher Vineyard. Her Seasonal Wine & Food Experience currently includes an apple smoked tamari miso duck with lemongrass parsnip puree with 2020 Richards Syrah. Reservations via Tock for groups up to six.
We love Clif bars, although they might not make ideal snacks with wine. However, Clif Family Winery in St. Helena carries on the Clif tradition of providing nutrition while you’re having fun. They recently promoted Executive Chef Magnus Young to oversee all food and wine pairing experiences featuring local and seasonal ingredients from the 10-acre organic Clif Family Farm, orchard and olive grove on Ink Grade Road. Book a seated tasting at the Main Street Tasting Room, or order items like laksa (coconut curry soup with shrimp), hit fried chicken sandwich and chicory goddess salad from their Bruschetteria Food Truck or book a memorable estate tasting or lunch at Clif Family Enoteca cont next page
The stunning Miller House, where owners Rich and Leslie Frank were wed, is the setting for “Elevated Tastings” curated by Chef Christina Machamer, the winner of season four of FOX’s Hell’s Kitchen and one of Napa Valley’s preeminent chefs. She worked side-by-side with some of the world’s top chefs, including Gordon Ramsay and Thomas Keller, before launching her own business in the Napa Valley a decade ago.
Yountville’s Chef Dan Solomon excels at upscale comfort food like the “Gas Station Sandwich,” a cheesy egg with crispy potato on English muffin, and breakfast gnocchi with wild mushrooms, broccoli rabe and fried eggs.
Lunch includes the Jambon de Paris which mates French ham with Marin French brie, caramelized onion, pumpkin seed pesto and Calabrian chili maple glaze on focaccia. Even smashburgers and fries are executed with flair and an extra helping of creativity, paired with the wines of winemaker Cody Hurd. Start with the Baker’s Bacon and Priest Ranch wine pairing experience at the tasting room next door.
Chef Britny Maureze, who grew up in Salt Lake City and studied at the CIA in Napa, has been on staff since 2018, and has single-forkedly laid to rest the tired trope that Cab requires steak. Not so. Her novel “Taste for Cabernet” pairings demonstrate how brilliantly Cabernet Sauvignon works with dishes like White Fish Brochette with Sauce Américaine and Parisienne gnocchi with mushrooms, winter squash and celery root purée. Cabernet truly meets its match! Hosted in the private Cambium Room.
Love Mediterranean-influenced cuisine?
Chef Peter Janiak offers a tempting look at the magic of wine and food, with a seasonal five-course indulgence, including dishes like parsnip and winter truffle bisque and cornbread stuffed pork with cassoulet beans and smoky bacon.
Chef Maria Lynn, who taught cooking classes at Sur La Table, will tempt your tastebuds with monthly pairings meant for sharing. Try the artichoke beignets with a lusty Syrah or the fried Brussels sprouts with the Teldeschi Petite Sirah. The Carneros Culinary Experience offers an exploration into the world of food and wine, with Chef Lynn’s pairings. Friday through Sunday, enjoy single vineyard Pinot Noirs with pizza and bocce.
The Bungalow by Gentleman Farmer in Yountville offers private breakfast, lunch, and dinner options with the winemakers, Joey Wolosz and Jeff Durham, preparing homecooked meals from favorite family recipes paired with Gentleman Farmer Wines.
The Culinary Institute of America has trained some of the most celebrated chefs in the world and has invited them to take over The Grove restaurant. With menus created in collaboration with The Grove’s chef de cuisine, Deborah Mullin (class of 1999), these multi-course dinners highlight the perspectives and boundless creativity of these hot ticket alums, accompanied by Une Femme Wines:

Many wineries have bocce courts for their visitors’ enjoyment. Becase the game is played between two players or two teams of one, two, or four, it lends itself well to hanging out with friends at the winery as part of your total winery adventure. Be sure to check ahead. Some courts require reservations and/or fees. If you have your own balls, Veterans’ Park in Yountville or Crane Park in St. Helena have bocce courts available when leagues are not in play.

Wine Road Barrel Tasting
Various wineries, Northern Sonoma County
The magic of Barrel Tasting is to get into the cellar and taste wines directly from the barrels. Almost all of the wineries will be selling futures – so plan now to taste…then buy the future!
Many of the wines being offered are so limited they will sell out as futures. After you sample from the barrel, most wineries will also have a few current vintage wines for you to try, so you can buy wine to take home…to hold you over, waiting for those “futures” to get bottled! Barrel Tasting does not take place at one location, you travel from winery to winery, visiting the ones you are interested in exploring. Participating wineries are located throughout Northern Sonoma County; Healdsburg, Santa Rosa, Windsor, Guerneville, Forestville, Sebastopol, Cloverdale and Geyserville. $195-$75 wineroad.com/events

Nestled in the picturesque landscape of Northern California, Lake County offers a hidden gem for wine enthusiasts. Clear Lake, after which the area is named, is America’s largest natural lake, dating back about 2-1/2 million years. Mount Konocti (a dormant volcano) rises majestically over the landscape. Boasting a diverse terroir with volcanic soil and ample sunshine, the region fosters the perfect conditions for grape cultivation, particularly for varietals like Cabernet Sauvignon, Sauvignon Blanc, and Petite Sirah.
As you embark on your tasting adventure, you'll encounter a spectrum of flavors unique to the region: bold reds with rich berry notes, crisp whites with hints of citrus and minerality, and robust blends that reflect the rugged charm of the countryside. Winemakers are often on hand to share their insights, offering a glimpse into their craft and the intricacies of winemaking.
Wine tasting in Lake County is a sensorial journey where each sip tells a story of the land and the passion of its makers.
Thorn Hill Vineyards is the perfect place to stay while exploring Lake County. The elegant Tuscan-style villa is in the middle of the vineyards. On one side of the Thorn Hill Tasting Room, there are two beautifully appointed private suites. Unwind in the shared living, dining, and kitchen space (well stocked with snacks and breakfast items). This is the perfect getaway accommodation for two couples to share. On the opposite side of the Villa, is a private single suite. Sleep in, enjoy the country quiet, make yourself a fresh breakfast, then walk about 20 steps for your relaxed tasting in the adjacent room, before you go out to explore more of Lake County.
Savor Amy Thorn’s award-winning, small-lot, boutique wines, both whites and reds. And don’t go home without a few bottles of Thorn Hill’s sparkling wine, and their elegant dessert wines.
Boatique Wines and Vineyard Cottages , founded in 2015, boasts one of Lake County’s most spectacular views. The founders, Robert and Madi Mount, had a zest for life with a passion for antique wooden boats and world-class wine which brought them to Lake Country’s Red Hills AVA. Visit for the “boutique experience,” sampling award-winning wines, including Pinot Noir, Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay,
Sauvignon Blanc plus other varietals. The friendly and knowledgeable staff at Boatique Winery enhances the overall experience, providing insights into the winemaking process and guiding guests through tastings with warmth and enthusiasm. For the ultimate experience, stay in the vineyards, and book one of Boutique’s comfortable accommodations.
Langtry Farms, and Winery has a romantic, storied history. Lillie Langtry, (b. 1853 on the Isle of Jersey) was a famous British actress and socialite, performing both in England and the United States. In 1888, seeing an ad in a local publication, Lilly purchased a 4,200-acre ranch, founding Langtry Winery, which she owned for 18 years.
The modern-day operation began with the initial 1982 vintage, they have been producing award-winning wines ever since. Whereas mostly Bordeaux varieties are grown, Langtry also grows, Merlot, Petite Verdot, Petite Sirah, Sauvignon Blanc (named Langtry Lillie), and Chardonnay.
The Shannon Mercantile They have it all! A local gathering place to sample estate wines and purchase locally raised grass-fed lamb from their ranch (all cuts of meat, ready to cook and serve). Enjoy ongoing events! Taco Tuesday, Friday Night Pizza, Saturday Farmer’s Market, Sunday Funday with games and food! •
Nestled amidst the rolling hills east of Clear Lake, Brassfield Estate Winery stands as a testament to the region’s winemaking prowess. Boasting breathtaking vistas and a commitment to sustainable practices, Brassfield offers more than just exceptional wine — it provides an unforgettable experience. Visitors are invited to explore the lush vineyards, savoring the nuances of the terroir, while enjoying a tasting flight of their acclaimed wines, from crisp Sauvignon Blancs to robust Cabernet Sauvignons.
Six Sigma Ranch , simply put, is a one-stop shop for your wine, lodging, and outdoor adventure fun. Wines are from estate-grown grapes, (including Tempranillo, planted more than 20 years ago), and are small-lot, elegant, and available mainly through the winery.
Stay under the stars in one of Six Sigma’s 63 Huttopia glamping units, upscale and completely off-grid. Or, bring your RV to camp out if you prefer.
Hike and Bike, on more than 14 miles of trails. Take a Pinzgauer Vineyard tour, savor a ranch-to-table private lunch or dinner.

The historic Sonoma Plaza – once a Mexican military outpost, fleeting frontier republic, and Spanish Mission village – is now a gorgeous historic landmark and “slow” culture capitol. Sonoma Plaza radiates romance around every corner, cafe and cobblestone. Whether you’re here for a day trip or extended stay, Sonoma Plaza offers the picture-perfect start (and end) to your adventures. It’s a pedestrian paradise, so ditch the car keys and discover real wine country on foot or bicycle. The Plaza’s old adobe storefronts, meandering alleyways, sunlit courtyards and historic landmarks hum with an eclectic mix of restaurants, hotels, tasting rooms, cafes, artisan boutiques, galleries – even a vintage movie house. As for the nature lover, wildflower hikes and stunning hilltop vistas abound within just a short distance. Anchoring it all is the tranquil Plaza itself, whose vast green stretches of lawn and immense tree canopy create a lush setting for picnics, cultural activities and weekly farmers markets.
