This Month’s Must-See Programs on 49.1 Ford Oval of Honor Wednesday, September 11, 9pm In partnership with the Central Indiana Ford Dealers, WIPB is proud to present the Ford Oval of Honor. Join us Wednesday September 11th at 9:00pm as we bring you the stories of First Sergeant Frank Chambers, Yeoman Second Class Elmer Cox, Sergeant Fred Glancy and First Lieutenant Jack Isenbarger, four local World War II veterans who answered the call to serve and defend our country. Veterans recieve this high honor for going above and beyond their call of duty. These upstanding men will be recognized September 7 at the Ball State vs. Army football game.

Bobby Riggs “The Battle of the Sexes” tennis match and the launch of the Women’s Tennis Association. King presents her own story, with perspective from Serena and Venus Williams, Hillary Clinton, Sir Elton John, Maria Sharapova, members of the Virginia Slims Circuit “Original 9,” family, friends, and many others.
Ground Zero Supertower
Thursday, September 12, 10pm Travel to Ground Zero to witness the final chapter in an epic story of engineering, innovation, and the perseverance of the human spirit: the completion of One World Trade Center. “Ground Zero Supertower” examines the new skyscraper rising up 104 stories and 1,776 feet from the site where the Twin Towers once stood. Will the final product be a fitting site for national remembrance?
A Chef’s Life Saturdays beginning September 14, 8:30pm This new half-hour documentary and cooking series takes viewers inside the life of Chef Vivian Howard, who, with her husband Ben Knight, left the big city to open a fine dining restaurant in small-town Eastern North Carolina. Follow Vivian out of the kitchen and into cornfields, strawberry patches and hog farms as she hunts down the ingredients that inspire her seasonal menus.
Latino Americans Tuesdays, September 17-October 1, 8pm Celebrate National Hispanic Heritage month with this this landmark six-hour series, the first major television documentary series to chronicle the rich and varied history of Latinos. Actor Benjamin Bratt narrates this educational series who have, for the past 500-plus years, helped shape what is today the United States and have become the country’s largest minority group.
