WOM Magazine Mission

WOM Magazine commitment

With this magazine we have an opportunity to inspire and equip women in an unique way. To speak and connect to women in a way that is fitting for their lifestyle. To help women see every experience and challenge as an opportunity to grow and discover their MORE. To challenge women that they were predestined to achieve and do MORE.

To lead with excellence, be relevant, authentic and inspiring with thought provoking information.

Today, I came upon a quote that solidified my affirmation and confirmation to my commitment to stay the course. This quote read: “Never take advice from people that are in the same muddy, murky quicksand that you are drowning in.” With that said, I really appreciate the sound and earnest advice that a few have offered to me. Forward moving… Here is another quote from T. Harv Eker: "The number one reason most people don’t get what they want is that they don’t know what they want. Rich people are totally clear that they want wealth. They are unwavering in their desire. They are fully committed to creating wealth. As long as it’s legal, moral, and ethical, they will do whatever it takes to have wealth. Rich people do not send mixed messages to the universe. Poor people do." – T. Harv Eker For me, this goes beyond material wealth. This resonates with me because the core of the message is having clarity, yes resounding clarity, and never wavering from YOUR DESIRE, YOUR PURPOSE. You may not reach it on the first, second, or third attempt but don't allow anything or anyone to deter you from your God given purpose. Peace and Blessings,

WHATABOUTACLUTCH Latisha Nicollette Creative Designer and Founder of WhataboutaClutch My name is Latisha Nicollette, creative designer and founder of Whata Bouta Clutch. I became inspired to share my story of how I started my business after watching Steve Harvey’s episode of JUMP. There is truly a story of brokenness, restoration, hope, faith and healing behind each bag I create. Sharing my story has been difficult until now, now that my heart is mended. I was in a very broken place in my life. I had to call off my engagement and cancel my wedding plans after learning my ex was cheating on me. I was devastated, ashamed and humiliated after another failed relationship. I was so overwhelmed I had no choice but to ask God to give me a hobby or anything that I could redirect my energy into. One day as I was scrolling through Youtube videos and I came across DIY for clutch bags. I watched them and over. I hadn't used a sewing machine since my 9th grade home Econmics class. I'm 38 years old, so that tells you how long it had been. However I didn't let that deter me.

I went out and purchased a sewing machine and fabric. I got started right away. It took me 5 hours or more to get the zipper in the clutch. It looked ok, but still needed some work. So I searched for more videos and I watched them over and over until I was able to get the zipper and lining in that's was pleasing to me. I'd sit for hours just making clutches and posting them on my social media sites" as crafty hand work". I had a great response, and many suggested I sell the clutch bags. Initially I doubted myself, but the more encouragement I received, my confidence began to grow. I decided to go for it! I found a logo that I loved, and a name that was catchy. During this time I found a sense of peace, that replaced my depression and anger. I was excited and filled with hope. I truly give God all the glory and honor because had I not been utterly and completely broken I can't say my clutch line would have been birthed. Whata Bouta Clutch is my Beautiful Broken Pieces. God gave me beauty for my ashes for all my pain.

Being a single mother of two wonderful kids I understand the importance of shopping on a budget but still wanting to look fabulous. Shop your closet - you will not believe the great finds you find in your own closet all those things you may have forgotten about. Have an old midi skirt not sure how to style it? Search pinterest or Instagram and see how other bloggers or celebrities are rocking them for style inspiration

I LIKE SHOWING WOMEN THEY CAN BE FABULOUS ON ANY BUDGET.

2

Staple pieces – Invest in the staple pieces that you can style various ways such as pencil skirts, black pants, jackets, tees, little black dresses and a great fitting pair of jeans. These are pieces that can look totally unique with different accessories. Before buying an item I ask myself is this something that I can style three different ways. I am all about getting more bang for the buck!

Shopping – When I go out shopping I first check my email and apps such as Retail Me Not to see who is having the best sale or are there any coupon offerings. When I go into the store I shop the clearance section to see if I can score any of those “ Staple Items “ at a discounted cost and you wouldn’t believe the deals you score. Always scan scan scan you might be pleasantly surprised with even better savings.

Summer Glam Red is the color for July. Get your glam on with Laura Geller’s Crème Sheers lip color in Cherries Jubilee and Mischo Beauty’s Luxury Nail Lacquers Front Row. The two complement each other nicely.

I love wearing Cherries Jubilee. This totally kissable lip color is subtle enough for every day wear but bold enough to make a statement. It goes on smoothly and doesn’t dry my lips. Who decides kissability? My husband. If the lip product is sticky, transfers too much color, or he makes a fish face and wipes his mouth, it’s not kissable. This one? I get a smile and sometimes, another kiss! $21 laurageller.com Front Row is the perfect nail lacquer to wear with it. What color is that and where’d you get are the questions I’m asked when I wear it. Front Row is long lasting, chip resistant, and totally affordable. More importantly it’s 8-free meaning it’s free of formaldehyde, DBP, toluene, formaldehyde resin, camphor, ethyl tosylamide, xylene and parabens , toxins that so many other nail lacquers contain. Pregnant? Vegan? Trying to be as toxin free as possible? This is the one for you. $18 mischobeauty.com.

MORE BEAUTY

July is the month of summer celebrations. Backyard barbecues, picnics in the park, and family reunions top the agenda. More time out of doors means skin is exposed for longer periods of time to the harmful effects of the sun. Protection is key. More Beauty’s July favorites will help you protect your skin and glam it up.

Brazilian Beauty to Exfoliate and Moisturize I’m loving the Teadora

Rainforest at Dawn Body Polish. When I’m really in the mood to pamper myself, I give myself a good scrub using this body polish.

When I step out of the shower I feel so clean, so refreshed, and my skin just glows. Then, I smooth on the Teadora Rainforest at Dusk Nourishing Body Butter. These Amazon Brazilian skin products keep my skin so soft, so smooth, my husband can’t resist touching. $34 Teadora Rainforest at Dawn Nourishing Body Polish, $38 Teadora Rainforest at Dusk Nourishing Body Butter. teadorabeauty.com. C A R E E R C O R N E R WOMEN OF MORE ASK FOR WHAT YOU WANT!

Last year, I found myself at a confusing point in my career. I needed guidance from a Mentor. I became focused on finding a seasoned business professional, who could relate to some of my challenges. I was struggling with my desire to excel to new career levels, experiencing ‘Mommy Guilt’ every time I traveled, and was fumbling some of my responsibilities of being a Mom.

MOMMY GUILT EVERYTIME I TRAVELED. One morning during a business breakfast meeting, I noticed a woman who looked familiar. I realized that she was an accomplished executive that I had read about in the news. After reading the article, I whispered to myself, “I would love to have her as my Mentor”. Once the meeting ended people began to gather and talk. My hands were sweating, and I had butterflies in my stomach, because I had every intention on meeting my new Mentor. As I walked toward her, I heard her announce she had to leave to attend another meeting. I quickly made a dash toward the elevators to meet her there. Once the elevator doors closed, I introduced myself. We had small talk until we reached the first floor. As we said our good byes, I boldly said, “I really admire your career journey, and would love to hear more about it. Would you be open to having lunch with me some time?”. I held my breath, because I wasn’t sure what she would say. As the elevator doors opened, she walked off and said, “I would love to”. I was so excited! This woman was a business executive, and actually held the role in the C-Suite that I dreamed of. AND… she said YES to lunch. Not only did we do lunch, but we have developed a great mentoring relationship, and she has become a very good friend.

Career Tips Woman of More! As you build your business or career it’s imperative that you do these 3 things to get what you want. Focus. Focus on what you need for your business or your career. I identified that I needed a Mentor. I made this a focus, until I found one. Face the Fear. Feel the fear and do it anyway. I had to overcome fear and rejection when I thought about talking to this woman. To go to great places in life, you will be uncomfortable and sometimes afraid. Follow Through. Go for it!!! Go hard and pursue what you want. I saw her, positioned myself to be with her on the elevator, and boldly asked her for a lunch date. What are you waiting for? Ask for what you want! Or settle for whatever you get.
