GOODBYE KURTIS!

BY KURTIS WOLFORD GOLF COURSE SUPERINTENDENT

I wanted to take this opportunity to announce I will be leaving Woodbridge and have accepted another superintendent position in Sacramento. I want to dispel any rumors as to why I am leaving. It has not been an easy decision.

When you work so hard on a property for four years, you become very vested in it. The relationships developed with staff and members are important and have become an extended family to me. A few weeks ago, I had two offers for me to look at becoming the superintendent at different courses. Both courses were within a 30-minute drive from my house in Folsom -- cutting my commute in half and allowing me to spend more time with my family.

Second, the new course offers a lot of exciting and challenging projects that will make a difference. This position also comes with promotional opportunities and management growth for me, and will give me the opportunity to work with other superintendents in a regional setting.

We were able to accomplish a lot in my four years at Woodbridge. We navigated two natural disasters, employee/manager turnover, a pandemic, drought, and updating an old golf course. I’ve seen the membership grow from the 400’s to more than 800. Woodbridge has come a long way. The work we have done the last four years has laid the foundation for the course to be great in the future.

I would like to thank the staff for being supportive and to the membership for their trust and support.

Onward and upward.
