WOW! July brought some really hot days, curtailing play for some of our members. Thankfully, we are now experiencing some let up in the triple-digit weather.

After the craziness and fun of June and the Invitational, July’s lighter schedule has been a welcome reprieve for some of us.

Our first play day of July was moved from the 4th to Thurs, Jul 6, due to the Red, White & Blue Tournament. Turnout was a little light due to the heat, but the group still managed to record some low putts for the round.

Charity Day was Jul 11 and once again the dynamic duo sisters, Janis Morehead and Jill Thompson hosted a spectacularly successful party. Janis reported that $1,000 was collected. The Ependymoma Research Foundation was selected as the recipient based on our member Vicki Gallego’s association with them in connection with her granddaughter. Thanks to all who contributed to this worthy cause.

As part of the WGANC recognition program each club is allotted a certain number of Medallions (based on the number of members in the club). This year, Beth and I decided to use a program outlined for us. This program uses 3 rounds of play (out of 7) as a means of recognizing a winner. Tues, Jul 18 was one of the scheduled rounds. We have 3 more scheduled between now and October. Debbie Wall is keeping track of the participants (everyone is automatically included) and will be announcing the winners in November.

Looking forward to August and maybe a few days of cooler weather we have the Men’s Guest Day, Aug 1, put on by Donna Brundy, Ginny Pelton and Laura Reeves plus another Medallion Play Day, Aug 8.

Team Play has two more tournaments scheduled, Aug 17 at Catta Verdara and Aug 28 at North Ridge. Sending positive thoughts to our players.
