49er Update

49ER Champion — Congrats Donna!

BY DONNA AARONS FORE-TEE NINERS 2024 CAPTAIN

August was a busy month for the Fore Tee Niners.

On Aug. 1, we concluded our three-day championship. The results are as follows:

2024 9-Hole Champion: Donna Aarons

Second Place Low Net: Kathy Cockayne

Second Place Low Gross: Shannon Hagen

“No one was more surprised than me; it was the best three days of golf of my life. That’s what keeps us all coming back,” said Donna.

After the championship, we enjoyed a game of One and Two Best Balls, with the team of Nancy Little, Terri Spring, Dora Shoemaker, and Meg McKenzie coming out on top.

We also introduced something new called String Theory. Each golfer was provided a length of string in feet equal to their 9-hole handicap, which they could use in increments or as a whole to get out of trouble. It was lots of fun for all!

Our Step-Aside Scramble had two flights:

2nd Flight Winners: Trudy Macleod, Jan Campbell, & Jackie Katzakian

1st Flight Winners: Anne Weisenberg, Patty Kooyman, & Kathy Cockayne

The month will end with a Guest Day featuring stroke play with low putts as the game.

Looking forward to September, we’ll be playing a Cha-Cha-Cha, a Vegas Shamble, some stroke play, and finishing with our last Guest Day of the year.

We’d like to extend our heartfelt thanks to our fabulous Guest Day hostesses: Kathy Cockayne, Terri Spring, and Meg McKenzie, for the terrific job they did this year.

Fore Tee Niners is a fun format for all levels of play. If you’re even thinking about getting out there, come join us for some exercise, fresh air, beautiful scenery, and socialization. And of course, we always end with a yummy lunch.

Hope to see you out there!

Donna Aarons
