KISMET: A masterclass in shipbuilding excellence

Lürssen delivered Project JAG, now renamed KISMET, to her delighted Owners. The yacht is the third for this experienced and long-standing Lürssen client, and with their previous becoming an immediate fan favourite, the launch of Project JAG was eagerly anticipated.

Following in the footsteps of such an iconic yacht was always going to be a challenge, but with the technical expertise of the Lürssen shipyard and the distinguished design mastery from Nuvolari Lenard on the exterior and Reymond Langton Design on the interior, the yacht has exceeded all expectations and has embarked on her long-awaited maiden voyage.

“To execute such a comprehensive project, an excellent team is necessary,” says Managing Partner, Peter Lürssen. “We are very proud of KISMET as yet another statement of Lürssen’s ability and desire to build yachts that meet all of our exacting Owners’ requirements, guided by our core focus of expert engineering, beautiful design and being at the forefront in developing sustainable technologies.”

KISMET has a length of 122 metres and just squeezes in under 5,000 GT at 4,918 GT. She represents the pinnacle of engineering with many pioneering features, including an innovative propulsion system that allows for 15 minutes cruising on electrical power alone. She also features a 4.9 x 1.3 metre single pane of glass – by far the largest single piece of structural glazing ever fitted on a yacht’s transom.

To create this unit, Benetti has continued its collaboration with UK-based RWD, the firm that designed the exteriors, and New York-based Bonetti/Kozerski Architecture, which played a key role in the decor and interior design

A fibreglass yacht over 40 metres long, M/Y Kahala is powered by two MAN V12 engines and has four decks. The yacht has five cabins accommodating ten guests and four cabins for eight crew, plus the comfortable captain’s cabin.

THE BRAND’S FIRST 50-METRE FULL-ALUMINIUM SUPERYACHT

The Custom Line flagship, with a full-aluminium displacement hull under 500 GT, is a masterpiece of marine architecture, engineering and quality.

Custom Line 50, the first 50-metre superyacht built entirely from aluminium, is the new displacement flagship and makes her debut in the metal yachts segment under 500 GT. The superyacht, 49.90 m long and 9.60 m in the beam, extends across four decks and introduces some innovative construction and design solutions, such as the owner’s suite in the bow on the upper deck, reserved exclusively for the owner, and the beach club with infinity pool integrated into the main deck, a unique 120-square-metre convivial space in close contact with the water.

The liveable spaces on board cover over 800 square metres, of which 324 square metres of exteriors. The generous volumes, usually found on much larger boats, are the result of careful development to deliver maximum onboard privacy for owner and guests.

With a draught of 2.2 metres, the yacht is ideal for cruising and mooring in shallow waters such as those in the Caribbean.

The project is the result of collaboration between the Strategic Product Committee led by Piero Ferrari and the Ferretti Group Superyacht Yard Engineering Department, based like the shipyard in Ancona. Custom Line 50’s exteriors are designed by architect Filippo Salvetti and the project architecture and interiors – completely made to measure – are by Studio ACPV ARCHITECTS Antonio Citterio Patricia Viel. The yard’s project management team, made up of engineers, architects and technical specialists, walked the customer through the entire process, from signing the contract through to handover, playing a strategic role in implementing the customer’s vision. The result is a project permeated by refinement and sophistication, as well as pointing up one of the brand’s core values, the reimagination of marine tradition through a contemporary lens.

The yacht can accommodate up to 12 guests in a master suite and in four cabins on the lower deck. Another five cabins are designed to ensure maximum comfort for the nine crew members

Rebirth of a legend

Nearly 94 years after her launch, Atlantide has been fully renewed and reawakened by the artisans at Huisfit by Royal Huisman. Following a complete rebuild, the Huisfit team is now excited to place the remarkable 37m/122ft motorsailer in the spotlight she deserves, sharing insights and a stunning new photo library. In January 2021, this laurelled, historic Little Ship of Dunkirk arrived as deck cargo from the US and entered the shipyard for repairs and interior modifications. In November 2023, she sailed away from Huisfit after a full rebuild with 40 per cent of her hull, deck and frames replaced, her interior fully reimagined and every onboard system except her original Gardner diesels fully overhauled or replaced. Her current owner, Jim Clark, has built three sailing yachts at Royal Huisman, the sloop Hyperion )1998(, schooner Athena )2004( and the J Class Hanuman )2009(.
