Feadship ushers in the fuel-cell era with the launch of 118.80-metre Project821
When the drydock doors slid open on 4 May at Feadship's Amsterdam shipyard, the yachting world was forever changed. Say hello to Project 821, the world's first hydrogen fuel-cell superyacht. Five years in the making, innovation-packed Feadship Project 821 is the answer to a fundamental question: "How far can we push green technology on superyachts?" Designed by RWD and with owners representation by Edmiston, Feadship's bold response was a multi-faceted, zero-diesel approach designed to cruise between harbours or anchorages and to operate the yacht's hotel load and amenities with emission-free power from green hydrogen. "The aim has been to develop a new, clean technology not just for this project, but for the world," said Jan-Bart Verkuyl, Feadship Director / CEO Royal Van Lent Shipyard. The size of the proposed yacht – 100-metres-plus – made it a good candidate to explore pure green hydrogen as the fuel-cell source. For those captivated by cutting-edge innovations, this yacht presents an opportunity for potential acquisition as it showcases the pinnacle of modern technological advancements.

SIRENA YACHTS
Reaching new heights: Sirena Yachts launches into 2024 with full order book following exceptional 2023
Istanbul-based shipyard Sirena Yachts has revealed early this year that it is beginning on a high note, as a result of its full order book for 2024, continuing the trend of growth which has been enjoyed by this forward-looking builder since its foundation.
The shipyard celebrated more than 40 successful yacht deliveries in the year just gone, which spanned its entire size range. These included the delivery of two units of its smaller, but perfectly formed, entrylevel yacht, the Sirena 48 – which made its highly-anticipated debut at the 2023 Cannes Yachting Festival – to Turkey.
Moving up slightly in size, an incredible 14 units of the Sirena 58 yacht were delivered in 2023, with eight finding their homes in the US, three in Italy and three in Turkey. Indeed, the geographical distribution of these vessels to their new owners is no surprise, given that both Turkey and the US represent extremely strong markets for Sirena Yachts.
The model with the largest number of deliveries in 2023, however, is one which can be found squarely in the middle of the Turkish builder’s product range: the sleekly designed and highly efficient Sirena 68. A grand total of 16 units of this model were delivered in the 12 months just passed, including the first ever delivery to both the breathtakingly beautiful archipelago of New Caledonia to a private client, alongside one to the Maldives, which will be used for the purposes of tourism.

NUVOLARI LENARD’S FIRST SUB-500 GT S1 SUPERYACHT READY FOR SUMMER LAUNCH FROM MENGI YAY
When renowned Venetian design studio Nuvolari Lenard brought all its experience and expertise to bear on a new series of beautifully considered superyachts, the result was a tour de force of concepts ranging from the 47 metre NL S1 to the Nuvolari Lenard Plus range from 52 to 65 metres. Now, the first of those inspired designs – the 47-metre S1 – is about to be launched as it nears completion at the Mengi Yay shipyard in Turkey. The yacht, soon to be followed by a twin, will be completed in the summer and will be a star of the Monaco Yacht Show in September.
That experience and expertise of the studio team has coalesced into a stunning steel and aluminium yacht for expert yachtsmen who want to experience everything the blue planet has to offer. Indeed, the S1 project arose following the request of a very experienced owner who want to capture not just the essence of a larger vessel but also its deck and interior spaces in a sub-50metre and – crucially – sub-500GT package. The advantages are clear – the S1 is a yacht that offers the luxury, versatility, range and capability of a 60-metre yacht but in a smaller, Med-friendly package.
“TheS1opensupmoredestinationsthankstoits4,000-milerangewhileopeningupmorecruisinggroundsbecauseofitsmore compact size,” enthuses Naval Architect Carlo Nuvolari, Co-Founder of the studio Nuvolari Lenard. “But it doesn’t achieve thosethroughcompromises–withmorethanthreedecadesofexpertisetodrawon, wehavemanagedtobringideasfromour much larger superyacht projects down to the S1,and as result she offers large exterior decks, side deck walkways that you’d expect to see on a much largeryacht, and showstopper features for a sub-50 metre such as a bridge deck owner suite and a giantsundeck.”

FULL-ELECTRIC SUSTAINABILITY AND UNMISTAKABLE STYLE:
Riva El-Iseo is the first model in Riva’s E-Luxury segment
Every new Riva model looks to the future but draws at the same time on an inimitable heritage of elegance, style and know-how that’s been handed down for over 180 years. This formidable mix of innovation and heritage is perfectly captured by Riva El-Iseo, the brand’s first full-electric powerboat that launches the new E-Luxury segment under the banner of sustainability.
Like all Riva creations, the new Riva El-Iseo was penned by Mauro Micheli and Sergio Beretta, founders of Officina Italiana Design, working in partnership with the Strategic Product Committee led by Piero Ferrari and the Ferretti Group Engineering Department.
“Riva’sgreatstrength, rightfromtheoutset, hasbeenitsabilitytorisetoandwinthedesignchallengesfacedovertheyears,by combiningitscraftsmanshipandknow-howwithnewtechnologies.RivaEl-Iseoisn’tonlytheworld’smostbeautifulfull-electric powerboat, butalsoproofthatinvestinginresearchanddevelopmentopensupnewpathstosustainabilityandenvironmental awareness,” explained Ferretti Group CEO Alberto Galassi. “Riva El-Iseo is also the first model in its segment to obtain Rina CategoryBcertification, afurtherendorsementthatRivaisattheforefrontofyachtingsafetytoo.”
Riva El-Iseo is a 27-foot (8.40 m) runabout with a maximum beam of 2.5 m and elegant and sophisticated lines, just like the much-loved and versatile Iseo from which it inherited the hull design. On board, Riva’s two souls are clear to see: the stylistic details typical of boats that have made the brand famous all over the world, such as the polished mahogany of the deck and stern platform, the stainless steel detailing of the lateral grills and the refined sky fabric cushions, go hand in hand with the modern and linear design of the bridge, creating a contrast between traditional and contemporary that sums up the very concept of the boat. The deck, cockpit and helm station feature a completely new design, while the colour of the first hull is a novel one for Riva, a California Sky Blue that marries perfectly with the elegant aquamarine beauty line featured on all boats in the Riva range.

AWAVE 48
A STAR IS BORN. THE FIRST OF A CONSTELLATION
AWAVE is the name of the walkaround range from Thy Shipyards
Awave 48 is the first model of a range that is developing in the segment up to 70 feet, 21 meters. This boat is the result of decades of construction experience of the workers and technicians of the nautical center of Giammoro (Messina) who have built over 380 boats between 18 and 30 meters under the Aicon Yachts and Morgan Yachts brands.
Awave 48, which made its first appearance at the Cannes Yachting Festival and has received widespread acclaim since its debut, was designed by architect Lino Siclari, who was able to concentrate an innovative design in just 14.60 meters which gives Awave 48 a strong personality, vast outdoor spaces, to fully enjoy the sea, the wind, navigation, nature and large areas below deck for relaxation, intimacy and on-board comfort. Elegant furnishings of mature sobriety and finishing details worked with artisanal skill complete the external equipment and the internal décor.
