VISITING ARTIST
Kelly Crosser Alge, a Fine Art graduate of Ohio Northern University and Owner of Modern Ancient Glass, is a full time artist, working primarily in fused glass and jewelry. Kelly is located in Findlay, Ohio, just 45 minutes south of Toledo, Ohio. Toledo is well known as The Glass City, and is home to the world-class Toledo Museum of Art.

Brianna Barron has studied at Pilchuck, the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, Ox-Bow, and the College of Creative Studies in Detroit, Michigan. She was recently selected to be part of the Emerging Artists represented at the Ann Arbor Art Fair. Current exhibitions include: Sculptural Intellect at Wayne State Unversity and Marc Vandenberg Revisited and Introducing Brianna Barron Exhibit at Michigan Hot Glass Gallery in Detroit, Michigan. www.briannabarron.com.
Shannon Eakins received her MFA from University of Nevada Las Vegas in 2012. Shannon holds a BFA (concentration in glass) from The Ohio State University and has studied at Pilchuck Glass School. She has been an Artist-in-Residence at Museum of Glass (Tacoma, WA), and has taught workshops at Heisey Glass Museum, Glass Axis (Columbus, OH) an M-Space Glass Arts (Tacoma, WA). She has extensive experience as a production glassblower and cofounded the Twisty Cup Pro-Am. Her recent installation Forever Staycation featured a thirty-foot tall inflatable gorilla, an iced sheet cake destroyed by robots, and rapid, audience-controlled changes in lighting and heating. FUSING STUDIO RENTAL
In order to use the studio, you must have completed Beginning Fused Glass and be age 13 and older or with faculty approval. There is no formal instruction during studio rental. Bring your own supplies, use our tools and leave your projects to be fired. We’ll make it easy for you! $10. per hour
STAINED GLASS STUDIO RENTAL
In order to use the studio you must have completed a Stained Glass class and be comfortable working on your own. There is no formal instruction during studio rental. You can rent studio time and work on your project independently using our tools. You must supply your own glass, lead, copper foil and zinc. $10. per hour
BEAD STUDIO RENTAL
In order to use the studio you must have completed a Beginning Bead class and be age 12 and older. Tools and supplies are included. There is no formal instruction during studio rental. $12. per hour. Class Safety Requirements The following safety precautions apply to all artists and students in all Water Street Glassworks classes and studios, regardless of experience: • Protective eyewear is required and provided. Prescription eyeglasses are acceptable. Master Glassblower Jerry Catania
WSG Matriculation Sequence For Glassblowing • Glassblowing instruction in the weekend format is sequenced into four courses: Glassblowing 1, 2, 3 and 4 • In the four-weeknight format, four courses are also required: (Glassblowing 1, 2, 3 and 4.
• Wear only non-flammable fabrics; 100% cotton is recommended. • Long pants/jeans are required. No shorts. • Wear long-sleeved shirts or short sleeves with arm protection (Kevlar sleeves are provided). • Wear closed-toe, non-skid shoes and socks. No sandals. • No jewelry or acrylic nails allowed. • Long hair must be tied back.
• Tutoring is available in between each session if you or the instructor feels more experience is needed to progress to the next level. After successful completion of either sequence, you are eligible for studio rental, allowing access to the glassblowing studio in four-hour reserved time slots.

The first Tuesday evening class will be a “quick learning class” to prepare you for creating any leaded glass window. You will learn what all the tools are used for and practice each step: work surface, pattern prep, cutting, grinding, fitting, soldering joints and framing as well as pattern design tips. We will learn how to sift, fire and layer on a larger scale, working on projects like plaques, bowls, or larger jewelry pieces. Sgrafitto, stencils, as well as other pattern making techniques will be discussed. METALS AS FIBER Saturday, Oct. 27, 9am - 4pm Instructor: Ruby Miller VISITING ARTIST In this class, students will be exploring unconventional combinations of fiber and metal and how one creates meaning in art through their material decisions. The class will explore the application of traditional fiber techniques to metal. Methods will include crochet/knitting with wire, embroidery on wire screen and thinking about metal working in a fiber context, among others.
