In the Spotlight Erin Morley
Eurydice by Matthew Aucoin and Sarah Ruhl The new broadcast season of the Metropolitan Opera begins with an Orpheus and Eurydice for the 21st century. Based on Sarah Ruhl’s acclaimed play, the brilliant American composer Matthew Aucoin reimagines the familiar Greek myth from Eurydice’s point of view. The technically dazzling coloratura soprano Erin Morley stars in the title role — audiences may remember her silver-toned Sophie from a recent broadcast of Der Rosenkavalier. With baritone Joshua Hopkins (Belcore in Lyric’s Elixir of Love), countertenor Jakub Józef Orliński (MOB”s Vocal Concertos in 2018), baritone Nathan Berg, and tenor Barry Banks, conducted by Yannick Nézet-Séguin.
