Welcome to September! I happen to like this month more than others for a number of reasons. For one, it is my birthday month and I get to turn 47 years old this year. You may think that is odd, that I GET to turn 47, but I am just happy as a clam that I have made it this far! I never really thought of making it this far and I can still remember when I thought 25 was old and a long ways off, but I am ecstatic to be where I am today. I have a great family and far more friends than any one guy should be allowed to have. I am fortunate to be able to still be publishing an Iowa motorcycle magazine every month, and now also being able to build, buy, and sell some guns with our other sideline deal, Thunder Guns. I cannot really complain much about anything, and that is all to our gracious supporters, readers, and fans of TRMI. I would like to thank each and every one of you personally for being a part of my life and world, but as that would be impossible, so I can take care of that here. Thanks all for being valuable parts of my world.

all of them so far, feel free to let us know your ideas on what we could do to make it better, to keep rolling, and to move into the future. We cannot adopt every idea that we hear, but we sure love to hear them and see what we can take on.

One last thing that I love about September is the early fall riding. Temperatures are a bit lower, with an occasional wild card hot as hell day. On average though, it is more comfortable to ride and experience the countryside of Iowa and the changes of the scenery. Watching the crops grow, mature, and then disappear this time of year is simply amazing to see. The events calendar ends up with more and more days of no rallies, runs, or bike nights and it is a great time to ride just for the fun of it. At least for us it is anyway. This becomes our time to just enjoy two wheels without needing to be somewhere at a particular time. I usually try to do an Iron Butt ride in September sometime as well, generally around my birthday. This is for no other purpose than the fact that I dig hitting 1,000 miles in around 15 hours, and Another part of September that is totally bad ass in my mind still happy that I am able to do so and enjoy it. Get out and is the fact that it marks the 100th issue of Thunder Roads enjoy the weather before it changes into crap late fall and Magazine of Iowa since we took over back in June of 2010. winter. It is crazy and almost surreal to think that we have put out 100 issues of this thing that we pour our heart and soul in Never Forget… to each and every month. If you have read every issue, I would like to hear from you! Send me an email or give Vernon me a holler. I think it would be pretty damn cool to have a chat with someone that has followed us for all 100 issues, Quote of the Month: “If we learn nothing else from this and can give us some input on what they would like to see tragedy, we learn that life is short and there is no time for for the next 100 issues! I guess even if you have not read hate.” Sandy Dahl, wife of Flight 93 pilot Jason Dahl

On the Cover This month on the cover is the University of Iowa’s Stead Children’s Hospital in Iowa City, accompanied by some sexy red eye candy. The bike is a 2018 Road Glide Custom and it is provided by the 620 Foundation, a nonprofit created by Metro Harley-Davidson Can-Am Suzuki to raise funds for the hospital. You don’t want to miss out on your chance to win, so head on over to Metro Harley-Davidson or online at metroharley-davidson.com and get your ticket(s) before the big drawing on September 13th! 4 - TRMI SEPTEMBER 2018

CMA Iowa’s State Rally was held in Fort Dodge this year and it so happened to start the day after all the tornados went through Iowa. On our way up we had a chance to see some of the destructive aftermath in and around the Pella area which then brought back vivid memories of last year’s Freedom Rally. Karla was not able to attend last year so I would call her in the evenings to touch base. I was on the phone with her when our camp got hit. While sitting on my cot in the tent talking with her, I noticed the wind had picked up dramatically and then it picked up a lot more. Pretty soon the fiberglass poles folded, the tent was lying across my shoulders and I was the tent support. When the side of tent began ripping on the edge of the cot and the canopy behind me took off and flew over the tent and crashed into my bike I told her “I think maybe I should get off the phone”. No one was injured, and although we lost several canopies and tents, we did get some awesome pictures of clouds and the storm roaring through. After several runs to town, lots of duct tape, cobbling and help from neighbors, CMA was operational again. As a result of what happened the ABATE districts got together and erected a beautiful metal-roofed structure for our use this year. Yay ABATE of Iowa! This year’s Freedom Rally was great with the exception of the phone call telling us of the passing of our good friend Don (Moose) Kirchner. The Iowa biking community lost a big man, both physically and spiritually. Don was huge, 6’7’’ and 300++pounds, but he was just as large spiritually. Most anyone that was married at a rally or attended a Vets Tribute would know Don. He seemed to be everywhere speaking at everything the last 15 years until his health failed him. Even then he and his wife Darlene continued to counsel and minister to people in their home and in recent years, as his ability to travel became limited, Don took an Associate Pastor’s position at a church in Ottumwa. He was very active in ABATE as a life member and former District 14 coordinator; he was a Marine, a member of CMA, Patriot Guard and the Chosen Few MC.

many were helped through traumatic life events by Don? Please stand.” He then had everyone look around the room and balcony to see the multitude of people on their feet. Don’s life touched so many and gave those of us who knew him something to try and emulate. He was the first to admit he was a fallible, flawed individual with a past he wasn’t always proud of but when he got saved, he was all in for Jesus and wanted everyone to know how to come to Christ and grow in Christ. He was a good example of how the Lord uses all of our past mistakes and experiences to prepare us to help others in similar situations. The saying that ”Today is preparation for tomorrow” is so true.

When asked how he was doing, Don’s response even when sick was always, “I’m blessed and highly favored”. He had that confidence and knowledge of where he stood with the Lord and looked at his impending passing not with dread but as a going-home celebration. A favorite scripture of his was Jeremiah 29:11 which says; ”For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord. Plans to prosper you and not harm you, plans to give you hope and a future”. He knew there was so much more to eternity than this brief life as we know it. I’m also sure that when Don got to heaven he heard what Matthew 25:21 says: “His master said to him, well done good and faithful servant. You have been faithful over a little; I will set you over much. Enter into the joy of your master”. Don’s legacy is - and will continue to be - something special. The thing is, we will all have the Don’s passing left a huge hole in many lives; Karla and opportunity to pass on a legacy of our own as well. It just I rode to our first Freedom Rally, Hawgstock and COC meetings with him. We were blessed to have many miles remains to be seen what it will be. and memories together: State Line Rallies, Conesville Rest in peace, Brother Don. Rallies, The Horse Rally and Changing of the Colors Rallies, campfires, camaraderie and conversations. He Blessings, Mark was an encourager and truly cared about people. The pastor at his funeral didn’t let people get up and talk Mark and Karla Cornick are Area Reps with the Christian as there were so many attending but he did ask several Motorcyclists Association. Find out more about CMA questions. He asked “How many were saved as direct result of Don’s ministry? Please stand.” He asked “How and God’s plan for you at www.cmausa.org 6 - TRMI SEPTEMBER 2018

“Smyelin cause there’s hope, end MS!’’ August 8th 2017 started out just like any other day. Lance and Heidi Lillibridge of Vinton went out for their anniversary ride and little did they know that would be the ride that changed everything. Lance and Heidi enjoy spending their anniversary on two wheels and in years past have ended up in the likes of Galena and Savanah Illinois and even Wisconsin, but last year was different. While riding around the Coralville lake area and ending up at Bobber’s, Lance and Heidi had to make more stops that usual while riding that day. Lance had noticed that Heidi’s balance was just not right. Prior to the ride this day they knew something was going on, but had no idea it would be something that would forever change their lives. When they arrived home that day, Lance said that is about broke his heart telling Heidi that may have been their last ride. Three months later is when they received Heidi’s diagnosis of Primary Progressive Multiple Sclerosis. PPMS is the rarest form of MS as it is progressive from the beginning, effecting approximately 15% of those who have MS. PPMS is more difficult to diagnose and treat as there are less brain lesions and more lesions on the spinal cord. PPMS causes Heidi and others with it to have more problems walking and being able to balance themselves. MSers bodies are confused and their white blood cells begin to attack their bodies. In Heidi’s case and those with PPMS the Myelin or the protective “coating” around their spines breaks down causing some confusion in their bodies. This causes signals coming from their brains to almost short out through her body. Over the last five years there have been a lot of breakthroughs with MS. Today there are 17 different drugs to help them, whereas 20 years ago there were no drugs. In Heidi’s case and others with PPMS there is only one drug, but it is considered to be a top 10 breakthrough drug.

an idea and sat down with Cody. Lance and Cody had worked together along with Tom Hansen, a local painter in the Vinton area and came up with a plan. Lance had told me while talking with him about this article that he wasn’t a trike guy, but for Heidi he would be. Everything on this trike was going to be custom, from the paint all the way to the wheels. The bike is orange to symbolize MS and the trunk reads “Smyelin cause there’s hope, end MS!” The bike has two dragons on it that their daughter who is 14 drew. The body of the dragon is a spine and the head is “eating” MS. If you ever see this bike out make sure you check it out! It is a beautiful bike. While Lance tried to keep this a secret, he let the cat out of the bag two weeks early. Lance had received a message from Karrie Anderson with MS moments on Facebook. Not noticing that Heidi was also a part of the conversation, he had told Karrie a little bit about the plans with the trike and how things were coming along.

Heidi turned her focus to fight for everyone battling MS. Heidi has teamed up with Karrie Anderson with MS Moments and organized a benefit ride, “Heidride.” MS Moments is a nonprofit organization here in Iowa that helps families who are afflicted by Multiple Sclerosis. They give families help towards health club memberships, medical massage and acupuncture. With a lot of MSers they have to use their muscles as much as possible or they will lose them. MS drugs are extremely expensive, so the money that MS Moments raises through their events helps take care of whole family. The Heidride is on September 15th with two launch places. Metro Harley-Davidson in Cedar Rapids and Big Barn Harley-Davidson in Des Moines will both hold registration starting at 8 a.m. with kick stands up at 9:30. Both groups will then ride to Iowa Speedway After receiving the diagnosis it really made both Lance and in Newton where Heidi start to think. For Lance his thinking turned into how participants can I still ride, as I only will ride if Heidi can ride with me. will have the That is when Lance went into Metro Harley-Davidson with opportunity to ride Th under Roads Magazine of Iowa on Facebook www.thunderroadsiowa.com 18 - TRMI SEPTEMBER 2018

around the track and partake in raffles and games. CJ Ryder and the Past Masters will be jamming for you all to enjoy as you help raise funds for those who endure MS every day. After talking to Lance and Heidi it is clear that these two really have a passion for not only riding their beautiful one of a kind HarleyDavidson trike, but also for helping others who are going through some of the same battles that Heidi goes through everyday living with MS. MS doesn’t just affect the person living with it, but the whole family. Lance and Heidi know that her time being able to walk may be limited, but they plan on spending as much time as they are given enjoying time with their kids doing the things they love to do as a family. Lance, Heidi, and everyone with MS Moments would love to see you all in Newton on Saturday, September 15th to help raise money for those who battle MS every day! All the details for the ride can be found on the Facebook Event, Inaugural HeidRideRiding Out Multiple Sclerosis (East) Mandy James

That is a powerful statement to behold and it covers so many wonderful basis, but right now since I am focusing my thoughts on what I am tasked to do for this great publication, Thunder Roads Magazine of Iowa, (never miss a chance to get a healthy plug in, the boss likes that and sometimes it makes him nicer at lunch) Okay, fun fact, the boss is ALWAYS nice, and very passionate about this publication and a staunch supporter of Freedom.

of bike, the riders of those bikes, people that are fans of that bike, those bikes, or any other bikes. NOR am I a shill for any particular brand of bike at all, this is a look at the industry and always remember, I am the Good Ship Lollipop in the cesspool of life!

Recently the Motor Company announced it was creating a sport bike, called the Street Fighter, to enter the lucrative sport bike category. For better or worse, sports bikes, many times, Including the are what young Freedom that ridriders want, ing gives us. It’s need, crave and not a big secret desire. of several social media platforms over the week since Harley first teased the hard core fan base of HD, HATE IT and that is why it might just works. The traditional rider they currently sell bikes too love the style and the symbolism that is the Motor Company, those riders, many of them, simply don’t like change. Remember the backlash when the water cooled bikes hit the market? FOR SHAME. This new Street Fighter (Not to be confused with the Ducati Street Fighter) is nothing like they have and change doesn’t sit well with others. Again, they have that market covered, they need new, younger riders to stem the bleeding of the bottom line and this bike might do it. A couple of challenges they are going to face. First off, they are way late in the game of course, so many other brands have had sport bikes out, and performing at a high level for years, to gain market share they are going to have their work cut out for them. They really don’t have room for error either because there are NO bad bikes on the market anymore. All manufacturers have been highly innovative over the past 20 plus years, the crap bikes are gone, pick a brand, you will find a high level of quality that was missing many years ago. People are NOT brand loyal like they were; they are not forgiving about a shortcoming just because you are brand X. The biggest issue might be price point. I have read such a wide range of rumors about what this bike will cost on the showroom floor, but as of now, I can’t find anything to confirm what it is. If you want to get sport bike fans to even CONSIDER this bike, it had better be at or lower than what the category leaders are at. You won’t be able to move many units of this bike at a higher price point just because it’s got a Harley Davidson badge on it. It had better perform! And not just okay, it needs to kick major ass. Be it on a track (like the old days) or on the street, it has to at least match the Ninja’s, CBR’s Ducati and others. For a generation Harley never had to be concerned about performance, or how a bike handles, they are and have just sold on IMAGE alone. A tough pill for many to swallow, but unless you spend major on upgrades, let’s face it, a run of the mill HD isn’t setting the road on fire with how they perform. Image Image Image, which is category to own, no company can take that away but sport bikes are not purely sold on image, they are sold because that bike can kick everybody else’s ass on the track or the street. Innovate or die, it’s mantra for all companies, doesn’t matter the product. They are attempting to do just that and it might just save them for the future. I like the bike myself, I look forward to seeing in person and taking one for a ride. It’s a step, but a step Harley needs to take to keep up with the industry that is always moving and innovating. There are two bike areas I feel the Motor Company needs to invest in and get it done now. First, bring back a dirt bike! Capture the hearts and souls of the next generation of riders when they first fall in love with bikes! On the dirt! How cool would a HD dirt bike be! Finally, and they might be way too late on this one, 125 cc class. Before the hard core fans have a coronary, remember, like the Street Fighter, the 125 class is not targeted at you, but that 125 category is just what might save the industry. Even seasoned riders are grabbing up these nimble bikes, be it the Honda Groms and the Kawasaki Pro Z... They are the fastest selling bikes over the last couple of years for several reasons. Plus, a brand new one out the door is about 3 grand. I hope this bike is a success, but they have their work cut out for them. I welcome it to the riding world and can’t wait to see one in person. Thankfully my sport bike days are long behind me, but if Top Gun can be making a comeback, maybe the Street Fighter will bring the Motor Company back. You can’t ask for more Freedom than that. This hi month’s h ffeatured d Military Rider is Clint Koerperich from Marion, Iowa. Clint spent 22 years, from 1994 to 2016 as a member of the Iowa National Guard. Clint’s primary MOS was 11B Infantrymen, and he was deployed to Kuwait, Kosovo, and twice to Afghanistan during his service years. At the end of his service career, he attained the rank of Sargent first class, also known as an E7. Clint is not the first member of his family to spend time defending the good ol’ USA. His grandfather was in the Navy during the second Great War, and he also had an impressive number of uncles who fought the good fight…seven of them to be exact. A long line of service to our country, and we thank them all for that. Though deployed numerous times, Clint managed to find something to ride in every single country he has been in. While at home, he has owned numerous two wheeled compadres, including a 1980 Honda 125, 1994 Suzuki 750 GSXR, 2005 Kawasaki Vulcan 1500 custom, 2001 YAMAHA Midnight Star 1600, and a Yamaha 450. He says that the freedom he finds on two wheels, as well as the brotherhood that comes with the biker lifestyle is what initially drew him in, and keeps him smack dab in the middle of all that is motorcycle.

always l hhave a good d time when they can get together. Clint has found that being in the National Guard has allowed him to meet “Iowa’s finest”. It has also afforded him a pretty cool employment opportunity, Clint is currently the co-owner of a 100% veteran owned and operated roofing and exterior company operating in Iowa. Clint and his partner named their company as well as a program to assist veterans, after one of their lost beloved lieutenants, Scott Baraibar (the call sign for their company was Titan). So even though he has retired from the military, Clint is still able to help out communities in crisis, work with great people, and spend some of that scarce free time giving back to veterans through a nonprofit, The Titan Project. For more information, or if you are a veteran in need, please go to INFO@ THETITANPROJECT.ORG. Clint, a big Thank You for your service from all of us here at TRMI. His current bike was purchased from a friend, and he chose it because it had all of the comfort and accessories he was looking for…the fact that it was top notch in the comfort department didn’t hurt either! Other than the possibility of a new paint job, Clint says that this bike is right where he wants it. Which is a good thing, because Clint stays very busy in the summer, and has little time left to spend on upgrades when he has spare time that can be better spent out on two wheels with friends! Brickyard Burgers & Brews 1802 Greene St. Adel, IA 515-993-4200 Adelbrickyard.com Facebook: adelbrickyard Sun - Tue: 11AM-10PM, Wed – Thur: 11AM-12AM, Fri - Sat: 11AM-2AM Lynnette and I recently checked out a fairly new place in Adel called Brickyard Burgers and Brews. The name is derived from being in close proximity of the historic United Brick and Tile Plant. It is located on the west side of Adel just off of Greene Street which is also known as Old Hwy 6. It is also steps away from the Raccoon River Valley Trail. Brickyard originally opened to accommodate the craft brew crowd and the menu consisted of burgers that were cooked on an outside grill. Soon they realized the need for restaurants in Adel and felt that they could help fill that need! To do that, they expanded to an indoor kitchen and beefed up their menu as well! (beefed up… burgers… get it… LOL) We arrived to find ample parking along the west side of the building and a newly paved section on the south side in front of the building. I believe this concrete section is for bike parking (both motored and pedaled). Once inside, we found plenty of seating with a combination of booths, standard tables, tall tables and a bar. If you prefer to be outside, the east side of the building has picnic tables available on a concrete pad. There was no wait to be seated, just find a place, pull up a chair and your waitress appears almost instantaneously!!! (Ninja waitress training, I think!) The staff is super nice and helpful, a smile is part of their uniform! 34 - TRMI SEPTEMBER 2018

The menu takes your typical bar food to the next level! It covers all the bases with a wide variety of appetizers, salads, wraps, burgers, sandwiches, and deserts. (there’s even a kids menu for the little ones!) Monday through Thursday they offer daily specials with Monday being Steaks from 4PM to 10PM, Tuesday is Chili Dog Special all day, Wednesday is Wing Special all day and Thursday is Tenderloin and Fries Special all day. Lynnette decided to have the Steak Special (I guess now you know we visited on a Monday! LOL). With the Steak Special you get your choice of 8 oz. Ribeye or 8 oz. NY Strip. She chose the NY Strip. I was curious when it arrived, there was no steak knife provided, just your garden variety serrated butter knife. Well, as it turns out the steaks here are so tender that a butter knife is all that is needed!!!! I had the opportunity to sample a couple of bites of Lynnette’s steak and it was ASWESOME!!!! So tender, it all but melts in your mouth!!! I decided to go with an old favorite, the Chili Dog. You get your choice of sides with this, so as I was in a comfort food mood, I went with the Cottage Cheese. First off, this is no run of the mill hot dog! This is one of those Jumbo, Jumbo dogs!!! I didn’t measure it, but I’m certain it was a good 1 ½” in diameter!!! It was served in a bun and covered with their delicious homemade chili, diced onions and tomatoes, jalapenos, and covered in grated cheese. If you had plans of picking this up to eat it… good luck!!!! I think the fork is a better option!!! This thing is mind-blowingly delicious!!!!! It’s almost anticlimactic to tell you that the cottage cheese was delicious as well. Brickyard Burgers & Brews in Adel, stop in for a bite and bring your appetite… you’re going to need it!!! You can check out their full menu on their website and like them on Facebook! Until next month, ride safe and eat hearty! A priest, a minister, and a rabbi want to see who’s best at his job. So they each go into the woods, find a bear, and attempt to convert it. Later they get together. The priest begins: “When I found the bear, I read to him from the Catechism and sprinkled him with holy water. Next week is his first communion.” “I found a bear by the stream,” says the minister, “and preached God’s holy word. The bear was so mesmerized that he let me baptize him.” They both look down at the rabbi, who is lying on a gurney in a body cast. “Looking back,” he says, “maybe I shouldn’t have started with the circumcision.” A 92 year old man is walking through a park and sees a talking frog. He picks up the frog and the frogs says, “If you kiss me, I will turn into a beautiful princess and be yours for a week.” The old man puts the frog in his pocket. The frog screams, “Hey if you kiss me, I will turn into a beautiful princess and make love to you for a whole month.” The old man looks at the frog and says, “At my age I’d rather have a talking frog.” Q: How do you get 500 old cows in a barn? A: Put up a Bingo sign.

A woman gets on a bus with her baby. The bus driver says, “That’s the ugliest baby that I’ve ever seen. Ugh!” The Two fish are in a tank. One turns to the other and says, woman goes to the rear of the bus and sits down, fuming. “Hey, do you know how to drive this thing?” She says to a man next to her, “The driver just insulted me!” The man says, “You go right up there and tell him off – go ahead, I’ll hold your monkey for you.” My friend thinks he is smart. He told me an onion is the only food that makes you cry, so I threw a coconut at his face. Q: If you have 13 apples in one hand and 10 oranges in the other, what do you have? A: Big hands. A man kills a deer and takes it home to cook for dinner. Both he and his wife decide that they won’t tell the kids A kid walks up to his mom and asks, “Mom, can I go what kind of meat it is, but will give them a clue and let bungee jumping?” The mom says “No, you were born from them guess. The dad said, “Well it’s what Mommy calls me broken rubber and I don’t want you to go out the same sometimes.” The little girl screamed to her brother, “Don’t way!” eat it. It’s an asshole! There was a papa mole, a momma mole, and a baby mole. They lived in a hole out in the country near a farmhouse. Papa mole poked his head out of the hole and said, “Mmmm, I smell sausage!” Momma mole poked her head outside the hole and said, “Mmmm, I smell pancakes!” Baby mole tried to stick his head outside but couldn’t because of the two bigger moles. Baby mole said, “The only thing I smell is molasses.” Two tall trees, a birch and a beech, are growing in the woods. A small tree begins to grow between them, and the beech says to the birch, “Is that a son of a beech or a son of a birch?” The birch says he cannot tell, but just then a woodpecker lands on the sapling. The birch says, “Woodpecker, you are a tree expert. Can you tell if that is a son of a beech or a son of a birch?” The woodpecker takes a taste of the small tree and replies, “It is neither a son of a beech nor a son of a birch, it is, however, the best piece of ash I have ever poked my pecker into.” Thunder Roads Magazine of Iowa on Facebook

Q: What do you call stoned Mexicans? A: Baked beans. Your Halloween costume came in the mail today. I opened it. It was a rooster mask and a bag of lollipops. Going as a cock sucker again!? There were two cannibals who captured a man. They decided it would be fair if they started eating from opposite ends. After a few minutes, the one who started at the head asked the other one, “How’s it going down there?” And the other one replies, “I’m having a ball!” Maria, a devout Catholic, got married and had 15 children. After her first husband died, she remarried and had 15 more children. A few weeks after her second husband died, Maria also passed away. At Maria’s funeral, the priest looked skyward and said, “At last, they’re finally together.” Her sister sitting in the front row said, “Excuse me, Father, but do you mean her and her first husband, or her and her second husband?” The priest replied, “I mean her legs.”

People come and go out of one’s life for a variety of reasons, but when they pass on, it is the saddest way to lose someone. Shifty LaRue has been a regular monthly contributor for longer than I can remember. Considering this is our 100th issue of Thunder Roads Magazine of Iowa, it makes it even more earth shattering that we have to tell you about the passing of Shifty LaRue. This cat is no longer with us, but will always remain in our hearts and will come rumbling through our thoughts quite frequently I am assuming. We are deeply saddened by the fact that we will no longer be able to ride with Shifty, or to see those amusing rants on our pages.

All that can be said about Shifty summed up in one word would be free. Shifty was for sure a free spirit, lived free, rode free, wrote free, fought free, smoked free, and even worked for free! Not the cheap and easy type of free, but the “don’t give two shits” about the outside world free. That is something that has to be admired in this day and age of political correctness to a fault. When you get to know and hang out with a person that simply says and does what they want, with not a care in the world about whom they piss off, you know you have a “real” person.

Life started for Shifty in a screaming bloody mess, and strangely enough, ended the same way. Shifty came out weighing more than Andre the Giant’s bowling ball, a hefty eleven pound something ounces baby that probably had leather riding boots on while sliding down the waterslide. Shifty made a colicky baby seem like a walk in the park. Always screaming, always shitting, always eating, and always trying to make as much noise as possible. This continued for much of life for the infamous Shifty LaRue. Shifty always loved to ride hard and put it away wet, but also took that style to riding motorcycles. It is no surprise that our beloved Shifty went out in a blaze of two wheeled glory after just returning back to Iowa from the big ol’ biker party in the Black Hills. We were not with Shifty at the time of the incident, but witnesses said that it was quite the spectacle. I guess you never know what can happen after a couple thousand miles in a few days and no more than a cat nap here and there. I am guessing that we may hear more about the story after the investigation is complete. As we say goodbye to the physical form of Shifty LaRue

for good, we wish that ornery biker the best of luck, hopefully north of the pearly gates. Shifty will live in our hearts and the stories will become exaggerated for sure, Unbeknownst to the rest of the world, Shifty truly like they always do after someone passes. Sometimes the had a heart of gold. The writings on these pages only stories get so blown out of proportion, that the subject offered a brief glimpse into an amazing person. The doesn’t really even seem real any longer, like they were musings here showed us a tough exterior of a hardened god like and their escapades could only be on par with the biker, that didn’t like to take any shit. That is not the only best fiction novels. We raise our glass and offer a toast to facet of Shifty that existed in our world though. I know Shifty, and wish you the best of the afterlife, and hope that first-hand from riding together, that Shifty was always one those left behind realize what we have lost and keep Shifty of the first to hop onto the scooter for a run for a cause. If in our memories forever. there was something that needed more awareness, a cause that needed a few more dollars, or simply just gathering up some toys so that a few more kids could have a great Just keep Shifty’s family in Christmas, Shifty was there your thoughts. Ride safe, be with bells on. The gruff careful, enjoy the fall riding party animal exterior gave season. way to the softest heart one could imagine. Shifty was the epitome of the tough Vernon Schwarte ol’ biker with a heart of vernon@thunderroadsiowa. gold, a shining example of a com biker’s heart that was felt by everyone in Shifty’s life.
