VETERANS MEMORIAL EXPANDS TO HELP CITIZENS ALWAYS REMEMBER Olde City Park is home to Wylie’s Veterans Memorial. In the spring of 2019 cosmetic upgrades were made to the Veterans Memorial including three new flag poles that stand proudly over the park. These were made possible due to a $7,000 donation from the American Legion Hale-Combest Post 315 Wylie, Texas. In addition, the Parks and Recreation Department funded the construction of two concrete pads to host new memorial stones. The wall behind the memorial was expanded to match the growing monument. A low barrier now surrounds and protects the memorial stones, and beautiful flowerbeds decorate the center of the Memorial. A second bench now stands with the first for those who want to sit and reflect on the sacrifices of so many brave Americans. Next time you’re at Olde City Park enjoying the playground, hosting a birthday party, or simply taking a stroll along the walking trail, take a minute to honor those who have served our country so bravely. The American Legion Hale-Combest Post 315 Wylie, Texas manages the memorial and ordering of pave stone requests. Contact Parks@WylieRecreation or 972-516-6340 for more information.

result in forfeit of any refund. Activities that require advanced “ticket” purchase are nonrefundable, unless the open spot can be filled. To fill the spot, staff will begin pulling from the waitlist. If the waitlist fails to produce a registrant for the spot, your registration fee is forfeited and unavailable for refund. If a waitlist is unavailable, you must find someone to take your spot and register, properly. When this new registration is complete, your registration fee can be refunded. In the case of staff-initiated withdraw due to course cancellation, staff will contact you to discuss how you would like your eligible fees: 1) applied to your account with us for future use, 2) transferred into another eligible activity, or 3) refunded back to you. If this information is not relayed to staff within seven days, any eligible fees will automatically be refunded. All refunds will be made to the original payer only. If original payment was received in the form of a credit card, the refund will be processed to the same valid credit card; allow three to five days for processing. All other refunds will be processed in the form of a check from the City of Wylie; allow four to five weeks for processing. Supply fees are nonrefundable regardless of withdraw or cancellation of the class. INCLUSION The City of Wylie encourages people of all abilities to participate in recreation activities together and to register for activities that are of interest to them. We strive to promote activities that provide a positive, independent recreation experience for everyone. Reasonable accommodations are provided based on the individual needs and abilities of each participant who has a disability. To make a request for accommodation, please contact the facility supervisor where the activity is coordinated prior to registration. ENHANCEMENT REQUESTS You are encouraged to suggest recreation enhancements. Activities, features, and programs are added or changed based on need and industry trends. To help us help you, please complete an Enhancement Request form as thoroughly as possible. Staff will review your request for possible existing means and/or alternatives. The decision to implement an enhancement is largely based on need, industry trend, and impact on resources. Enhancement implementation or response is not guaranteed.
