Trader’s Celebrates 47th Anniversary! It’s hard to believe that it’s been 47 years since the first issue of Trader’s Shopper’s Guide rolled off the press. Back in 1973, things were much different. Trader’s averaged only 4 pages and had a circulation of approximately 500 copies. Today, Trader’s has moved to the forefront of the market in southeast Wyoming and western Nebraska. Our most recent circulation audit indicates that over 18,000 copies are picked up every issue. Throughout the month of January, all of Trader’s display advertisers will be recognized with a special “Anniversary Symbol� identifying their number of years as Trader’s advertisers. This is just one of the many promotions Trader’s will use to celebrate 47 great years of serving our communities. Looking to the future, we are certain that Trader’s Shopper’s Guide will continue to grow and improve. Composers, Canvases and Cellos

The art program at South completes a project connected to music every year. This crosscurricular assignment opens students up to the many types of art used by students to express themselves. This year their project theme was Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. The drawing teachers provided the opportunity for art students to draw music students as they played their instruments. To add a special twist to their hand-drawn portraits and to incorporate Mozart, music, and art, students drew their portraits of the performers using Mozart’s sheet music as their canvas. When asked about what made this project unique, artist Anthony Taylor

Job Seekers Can Earn and Update Job Skills

Genealogical and Historical Society Meeting

For many older Wyomingites, going back to work is not an option, it’s a necessity. The nonproďŹ t organization Experience Works, Inc. operates the Senior Community Service Employment Program, SCSEP, in 21 Wyoming counties. The US Department of Labor funded program is geared for people 55 and older who are unemployed, with limited annual incomes and limited job prospects. The program is free and available to those who qualify. Experience Works accepts program applications by appointment statewide. Participants spend an average of 20 hours a week in work experience training at public and nonproďŹ t organizations, earning minimum wage that is paid through the SCSEP. As participants become job-ready, their efforts provide extra support to tackle projects that might otherwise not be possible due to tight operating budgets. Participants have access to a variety of additional training and supportive services such as developing resumes, improving interview skills, and identifying job opportunities.
