The Senior Class. The big man on campus. The bossy guy in the corner, maybe the president of your club. A mentor you strive to be or to not be. The chill person in your class.

For me, being a senior is the end of the line- the end all be all. It is the last hurrah (except for college, of course, depending). Many in senior year suffer senioritis; I am no different. I think this isn’t exclusive to college-bound seniors. People who don’t want to go to college, people who want to enter the trades, and people who are going to college all experience it to some extent. I felt that, when colleges aren’t looking at this year’s grades, I finally had a break. I think a lot of teachers also kind of get it and go easy on seniors as long as they try in the areas that are important to each teacher. But in turn, despite our laxer class life, I think we as seniors have the most school spirit. A great example- if you looked at the games for football and basketball, a majority of the people in the student section were seniors, the people leading the student section were seniors, and the people in leadership class creating new chants were all seniors. It’s a bit sad that it takes until senior year before people are finally proud to be integrated as Bison. During the spirit weeks, the most participation is from seniors for sure. Junior class gets close though. As a senior, I think all this and more shows that you should really just have fun. Many seniors realize its their last chance to do all this and take it to what they’ve always wanted. Let’s go into what some seniors are going to do after high school and how they feel about high school. I, Caleb Greenlee am hoping to get the Daniel’s Fund and then go to UW for business management and then possibly afterwards go into business law. I’m scared that I’m leaving high school without ever getting a girlfriend and experiencing a dance without a girlfriend. I’m scared that college won’t have all my friends that I have here won’t be at UW and I’m most scared about finances, I’m in a lot of debt from my car breaking down. However, I know that many seniors here at South have unique perspectives. I have interviewed a few of them- and a few current teachers- to reflect on their senior year, however long ago that might be.

Jump Into Jewels Habitat for Humanity Fundraiser

Youth Alternatives Foster Grandparent Program

Think about becoming a Foster Grandparent before summer school starts or for the fall of 20242025 school year. Volunteers are needed to make a difference for the students in all of Laramie, Platte, and Goshen counties. The Office of Youth Alternatives Foster Grandparent Program is looking for tutor/mentors that are 55 years and older to work with children in a classroom setting that need extra support.
