It’s the only exit way of Youdu. Foing across the river simply means going to the next life. Only the souls without guilty can have reincarnation. Under the water, there is a place where the guilty soul are being punished. Abyss bridge stand across the river. The fire on the bridge never extinguish. They direct the souls the way to the next life. The souls that go across the bridge forget about everything about their previous life. The deity in this section is called ferryman. He holds a lantern all the time and the fire in that lantern can direct the souls. He is actually another protagonist of the game. After a series of adventure, lady meng finds that the Ferryman is the person that is calling her. He is not god at first, like other deities in the underworld. He used to be human. He fell in love with lady ment when he is ready for the next life. That violent the law in Youdu. He got punished for thousands of years. Because he has wandered in Youdo for too long, he is given the job to lead the souls. He is always waiting the protagonist. He doesn’t want to forget about her and just wanna meet her again and agian.

Forgotten palace is Lady Meng’s palace. It’s where Lady Meng lives and cook her soups. She braises the fogotton soup that made of the water in sanzu river. this kind of soup can make people forget about everything in the past life. Every soul that is going to leave Youdo and go to next life need to have a bowl of soup from lady Meng.

Lady Meng is a very old deity in Youdo. She looks like a young lady, However, nobody knows how old she is. She is very pretty, but she is alway single and seldom talk to others using her blank tone. She looks like only pay attention to her soup.

Ghost Forest

It’s the most dangerous place in Youdu. No one monitor and care this region. Lost and guilty ghost are wandering here. They are trapped by their obsession and memory. They can never leave ghost forest. In the deepest side of the forest, there is a altar. With enough money, ghost can be purified there.

Karma Tree

Karma tree is a magical place, where the dead souls can communicate with living world, rather project a phantom in living world, or appear in their relatives’ dream.
The magical tree is
fostered by the spirits’ yearning. The stong emotion become blue stream and irrigate the tree.

Ultimate bank and residential zone

The residential zone is where all the ghosts live. It is built by numerous spirits that from different eras. The entrance of the region is a huge bank, called ultimate bank. In Chinese tradition, the living people usually burn paper money to the dead relatives, wishing they can have a good life in underworld. Because of this, there’s currency in Youdu. The ghost can have their account that save the paper money. If they are wealthy enough, they can purchase opportunity to connect the living world, like convey messages to their relatives or lovers in their dreams. The deity of the bank is the ruler of the whole Youdu, called death judge.

The protagonist The protagonist is a new soul in Youdu, she forget all the memories in her previous life, she even don’t know how she die. However, different from other souls, she masters a mysterious magical power and feels a familiar call from the city. She begins an adventure in Youdu, fighting against the lost souls that attack her for unknown reason and trying to find her lost memories. In the end of the stories, she will find out that she is Lady Meng. She is punished to experience mortal’s life because she acts contrary to the deities’ law. She will make a decision between her responsibility and what she loves in the end of the narrative.

Part of her is separated from her and go to the next life, becoming out protagonist and lose all the pervious memories. The lady Meng in youdu is just a incomplete person without emotion.

ABOUT Hi, I’m Xiaoyu. I am a visual development/concept artist. I come from ChangZhou, China. I am currently a senior studnet in Rinling college of art and design and going to graduate in 2021. I majored in illustration with a focus on visual development art, and create art in a wide range of styles. I am a potential concept artist in game industry and a freelance book illustrator. I have working experience as an environment concept artist in Duoyi game company, GuangZhou. I am good at designing game environment, maps and props. I work mostly in digital painting, and also have much experience with 3d modeling and oil painting.
