Dans certaines oeuvres d’Annabelle Smith Bigno, les coups de pinceau spontanés et la palette variée permettent d’évoquer l’ambiance colorée et la complicité féminine. Dans d’autres, les sujets se retrouvent seuls dans leur paysage aride et indigène. Tout, à travers la série, s’emmêle - traits de pinceaux, couleurs et pigments - de manière à dépeindre des sujets absorbés dans un fond de chaos. Collage et fils sont placés sur la toile afin de diffuser l’acrylique et les encres dans la composition désirée. Ainsi, l’eau et les pigments se diffusent en captant la lumière locale et omniprésente. Ayant grandi en Ecosse de parents franco-écossais, Annabelle Smith Bigno a vécu, peint et exposé en Oman, Libye, Venezuela, France et aux Etats-Unis entre 2001 et 2017. Actuellement résidente aux Emirats arabes unis, elle profite de l’influence de ces années de voyage, d’études et d’inspirations multi-culturelles pour peindre, rencontrer et travailler aux côtés d’artistes locaux et avec qui elle participe à de nombreuses expositions.

In some of the works, spontaneous brushstroke and colorful palette evoke a lighthearted backdrop of colour and feminine complicity. In other works, the subjects are solitary in their rugged native landscape. Throughout the series, a dynamic brush and array of threads divert colours and pigments so that the subjects are absorbed and entwined into a backdrop of chaos. Collage and threads are placed in such a way as to capture and re-diffuse acrylics and inks into the desired compositions. Water and pigments merge and fuse to conjure up local light which perfuses all. Born and raised in Scotland of French and Scottish parents, Annabelle Smith Bigno lived, painted and exhibited work in Oman, Libya, Venezuela, France, the US and the UAE from 2001 to 2017. Currently living in the UAE, she has taken advantage of the influence of these years of travel, study, and multicultural inspirations to paint, meet and work alongside local artists with whom she participates in numerous exhibitions.

La nouvelle série de Bénédicte Gimonnet explore le pouvoir de la lumière et la relativité des couleurs dans une composition linéaire abstraite et minimaliste. «Linéaments» (trace en surface d’un accident géologique profond) est un retour à l’essentiel du trait. Le spectateur est invité dans un espace pictural fluide et poétique, que crée une composition dynamique d’ondes et vibrations chromatiques. Celle-ci suggère une énergie et un rythme musical. Par ailleurs, l’élaboration de la palette de couleurs subtile et complexe prend sa source dans la mémoire de lieux et d’instants qui ont marqué l’artiste. Obsédée par la physicalité et les multiples strates de la peinture sur l’aluminium, l’artiste joue avec ses mediums et oscille constamment entre le contrôle et l’aléatoire dans l’élaboration de la ligne. A distance, les traits paraissent rectilignes et répétitifs mais observés de près, se révèlent irréguliers et uniques. Bénédicte Gimonnet est née à Clermont-Ferrand en France. Diplômée de Wimbledon College of Art, elle s’investit sur de nombreux projets en Europe et aux Etats Unis et s’installe aux Emirats arabes unis en 2009. Ses oeuvres sont incluses dans de nombreuses expositions et certaines appartiennent à des collections internationales privées (Khalidiya Palace, Goldman Sachs...)

Bénédicte Gimonnet’s new series of paintings explore the power of light and the colour relativity in an abstract minimalist composition. ‘Lineaments’ (visible trace of a deep geological accident) is a return to the essence of the linear mark. The beholder enters a fluid and poetic pictorial space shaped by a dynamic composition of chromatic waves and vibrations that suggests a musical energy and rhythm. The preparation of the subtle and complex colour palette is sourced in the artist’s memory of significant moments and places. Fascinated by the physicality and the layering process of paint on aluminium, the artist plays with her mediums. She constantly oscillates between control and chance when she paints the lines. From afar they seem straight and repetitive, but, upon closer inspection, they become irregular and unique. Bénédicte Gimonnet was born in ClermontFerrand, France. She graduated in Fine Art Painting from the Wimbledon College of Art and undertook a number of projects in Europe and United States. She has lived in the UAE since 2009. Her work has been showcased in numerous exhibitions and some of her paintings belong to private and corporate collections across the world (Khalidiya Palace, Goldman Sachs...)

La Collection 2016 de Cay est un audacieux mélange de styles mêlant des portraits sophistiqués et des représentations de jeux d’enfants. La peinture de Cay reflète une évidente liberté d’expression personnelle traduite par des effets de couleur, de texture et de matière. Ses compositions tentent toujours de susciter une réponse émotionnelle. Cay invente sa propre histoire de mouvements et de lumières, elle laisse l’image se fondre dans sa peinture, disparaître en partie sous des collages, s’effacer ou réapparaitre au gré des couches de peintures acryliques et des finitions de peinture à l’huile.Née à Sao Nicolau (République du Cap Vert), Cay a étudié la peinture à Caracas (Venezuela), à l’Institut YSSY. Après avoir été primée lors du premier « UAE Water-colour Challenge » en 2001, elle a commencé à exposer ses peintures à Dubai dans l’espace Boulevard des Emirates Towers. Depuis lors, les oeuvres de Cay ont été exposées au moins deux fois par an et vendues à des collectionneurs au Moyen-Orient, en France et au Canada.

Cay‘s 2016 Collection is a bold mix of styles, ranging from sophisticated portraits to free compositions of children recreation scenes. There is an obvious freedom and personal expression in Cay’s paintings which translates through effects of colour, texture and mix-media. Her art is always trying to generate an emotional response to composition and design. Cay creates her own story of movement and lights, she lets the image melt in the painting. This is achieved either by obscuring the painting under a collage or by wiping back the final image to reveal layers of the original painting. Born in Sao Nicolau (Cape Verde Republic), Cay developed her painting skills in the YSSY Institute of Caracas (Venezuela). After being awarded at UAE’s first Watercolour Challenge in 2001, she started showing her work in Dubai at the Boulevard, Emirates Towers. Since then, Cay’s paintings have been exhibited at least twice a year and sold to private buyers in Middle East, France and Canada.

Depuis longtemps Isabelle Riou-Teisseire est fascinée par les drapés. «Ils ont une capacité exceptionnelle à capturer, à transcender la lumière par la profondeur ou la légèreté de leurs contrastes et sont à eux seuls un mode d’expression inouï». L’artiste nous entraîne à travers coussins, draps, oreillers, tissus froissés et drapés dans un monde intemporel. Isabelle RiouTeisseire, née à Brest en 1964, est autodidacte. Pendant douze ans elle donne des cours d’aquarelle et d’acrylique avant de se consacrer pleinement à sa peinture. Elle participe depuis plus de 35 ans à des expositions publiques et privées. Elle a travaillé à Dubai de nombreuses années avec la Galerie d’art Courtyard, Art Connection et Pro Art. A Abu Dhabi, la Fondation Culturelle et Etihad Galerie continuent de suivre sa progression de même que l’Institut français avec qui elle expose à ce jour pour la seconde fois. Elle est exposée dans des lieux publics tel que l’Aéroport de Dubai (VIP Majlis), le Burj Khalifa de Dubai, la Fondation Culturelle d’Abu Dhabi, la Galerie Etihad Modern Art d’Abu Dhabi et le Palais Royal d’Abu Dhabi.

For a long time, Isabelle Riou-Teisseire has been fascinated by folds. ‘They have an exceptional ability to capture and to transcend light by the depth or subtlety of their contrasts and represent an unprecedented mean of expression. The artist drags us through cushions, sheets, pillows, crumpled fabrics, all draped in a timeless world. Isabelle Riou-Teisseire was born in Brest in 1964 and is self-educated. She taught watercolor and acrylic for twelve years, before fully devoting herself to her painting. Her work has been shown in both public and private exhibitions for more than 35 years. She has worked for many years in Dubai with Courtyard Art Gallery, Art Connection, and Pro Art in 2015. In Abu Dhabi, she works along with the Cultural Foundation, Etihad Gallery and the Institut français that are exhibiting her work today for the second time. Her work can be seen in prestigious public places such as Dubai International Airport (VIP Majlis Lounge), the Burj Khalifa in Dubai, the Cultural Foundation in Abu Dhabi, the Etihad Gallery Modern Art and the Royal Palace of Abu Dhabi.

L’espace pictural de Karine Roche est né des photographies des lieux traversés au cours de ses voyages. Certaines photos sont collées à même le tableau et la peinture devient un commentaire de ces images souvenirs. Ses thèmes récurrents, l’architecture et le végétal, lui permettent de se concentrer sur l’acte de peindre, d’approfondir des questionnements sur la sensibilité de la matière, les jeux de composition et les rapports de couleurs. Le tableau est l’empreinte du temps qui passe où chaque touche a marqué l’instant. Son travail est imprégné de la volonté d’intégrer l’homme à son écosystème, en considérant la ville comme un élément de la nature. Il n’y a ainsi pas d’antagonisme mais une recherche d’harmonie. Une adaptation de notre mode de vie en relation avec les nouvelles technologies et l’évolution des savoirs est nécessaire. Cette vision optimiste apporte une lumière d’espoir. Karine Roche est née à Manosque, en France, et travaille aux Émirats arabes unis depuis 2009. Elle est diplômée de l’ENSAAMA Olivier de Serres à Paris. Son travail a été exposé dans des musées, galeries et des foires internationales d’art contemporain (Art Paris, Art Elysée, Star’t...)

The roots of Karine Roche’s pictorial space are coming from photographs of places crossed during her travels. Some pictures are pasted on the canvas and the painting around becomes a commentary about these memories. Her recurring themes, architecture and vegetal, allow her to focus on the action of painting itself and to investigate further more on formal questionings about sensitivity of the matter, possibilities of composition and interaction between colors. The painting is a print of the passing time where each stroke has marked the instant. It is the idea of integrating humankind within his ecosystem, the city being an element of nature. Therefore, in her paintings there is no antagonism but a search for harmony. An adaptation of our ways of life is necessary in relation to new technologies and the evolution of knowledge. It is an optimistic vision to bring a light of hope. Karine Roche was born in Manosque, France, and has worked in the U.A.E. since 2009. She graduated in Paris from the National College ENSAAMA, Olivier de Serres. Her work has been exhibited in museums, galleries, international contemporary Art Fairs (Art Paris, Art Elysée, Star’t....)

Le travail artistique de Mioara reflète son identité multiculturelle, une vie rythmée par les départs et les absences qui en découlent. Son expérience spirituelle en Inde a transformé l’acte de peindre, qui est passé d’un simple passe-temps à une nécessité urgente d’expression.D’une part, elle joue avec les textures pour amener plus de substance et de relief afin de raconter le sensuel, le charnel et le visible. D’autre part, la couleur bleue, débordant souvent du canevas, est la couleur du silence et de la solitude, la couleur des espaces lointains et sans fin, qui sépare les choses et les êtres. Son dernier travail en cours, la série « Fils de Lumière », continue à écrire son expérience spirituelle et visuelle où sa compréhension des différents degrés du réel s’exprime à travers des éléments de la culture locale traditionnelle, dans une interprétation contemporaine.

Mioara’s work deeply expresses her transnational identity and a life made of departures, with the absences they imply. Her spiritual experience in India allowed the act of painting to evolve from a hobby into an urgentnecessity of expression. On the one hand, she plays with textures to bring more substance and relief, to tell the sensual, the material and the visible. On the other hand, the colour, blue, often overflowing the canvas, is the colour of silence and solitude, the colour of the untouchable and endless spaces which divides things and beings. Her latest work, the series in progress ‘Threads of Light’, continues to write her spiritual and visual experience where the understanding of the different degrees of reality are expressed through both local and traditional elements, in a contemporary interpretation.

D’une image du sud de la France à l’empreinte de l’âme asiatique et au charme oriental. Nathalie Guéna a passé les vingt dernières années à observer et à s’imprégner de l’atmosphère de ces univers riches et diversifiés, en quête de cette magie de l’instant et de la mémoire posées sur la toile. Les contrastes révèlent des émotions toujours nouvelles. A travers des thèmes variés, la diversité dans le choix des sujets lui confère une liberté créative. Ses émotions et sa sensibilité s’expriment en jouant sur l’opposition des couleurs et des lumières, par un travail à l’huile et au couteau. Originaire du sud de la France, arrivée en 2002 aux Emirats arabes unis, Nathalie Guéna a passé plusieurs années en Asie, en Malaisie et à Singapour avant de revenir au MoyenOrient. L’approche du monde artistique sous toutes ses formes, les rencontres et les voyages ont façonné les vingt dernières années de création de cette artiste autodidacte. La sculpture, la poterie et la photographie alimentent sa créativité.

From the scents of Southern France to the soul of Asia and Oriental charm. Nathalie Guéna has spent the last two decades observing and absorbing the richness and diversity of these different worlds, seeking that instinctive stroke of magic and memory on canvas. The resulting contrasts reveal ever-changing emotions. Through all these different themes, the diversity of subjects offers her freedom and creativity. Resulting emotions lead to inspiration and sensitivity in her use of palette knife when portraying color and light. Originally from South of France, arrived in the UAE in 2002, Nathalie Guéna has spent many years in Asia, mostly in Singapore and Malaysia before returning to the Middle East. Observing the artistic world, she approached art in every shape and form. Sculpture, pottery and photography play a large role in her creativity. All destinations, during the last decades, have inspired this self-taught woman.
