rban Fashion dominated urban streets in Leeds. Leeds has been greatly influenced by what we typically class ‘Urban Fashion’. For some the phrase means fashion inspired by urban music. What does urban music mean? Music emerging in densely populated areas of large cities, especially those populated by people of African or Caribbean origin. Urban music also relates to R&B and Hip Hop. There are also others who consider urban fashion to be what the younger generation are wearing. Whatever your personal

clothing worn by people usually gravitates to a certain kind of music that is constantly been heard. Also part if the urban music is rap and rap is even seen as cool especially to the younger people. Today Hip Hop is a culture in every aspect of young people’s daily lives. The reason Urban fashion is popular is because urban music has became very mainstream then it was in the beginning. This way the will always know the new trend in fashion.

efore the mainstream success of urban wear and any relation to fashion, it was just a style that people experimented.
In the late 1980’s and early 1990’s the trends for the women clothes were overalls, baby t-shirts, baggy pants, doc martens and body suits. These style were influenced by TLC, Queen Latifa and other more female artists. However Urban fashion became less defined than previously. Wearing jeans, sneakers and hoodie for example is looked at now as “Urban Fashion”.
