Design of
Materials to introduce Connect
Introducing Connect to new or
renewal concessionary pass users When users apply for a concessionary travel pass, a letter and step by step instruction leaflet is sent through with the concessionary travel pass, to inform the user about Connect
The step by step instruction leaflet guides the user to use the interaction screen. This is included to encourage and build confidence in older people who have little or no experience of using technology to search for activities to attend
Introducing Connect to current concessionary pass users Advertisements can be displayed on buses to inform users about the service and direct them to use Connect at their local bus stop
Finally, workshops can be hosted at locations such as libraries to teach older people how to use the service through demonstrations, and using iPads to allow the user to practice on them with help from instructors
Bus stop interaction screen
Although, the interaction screen is designed in mind for older people. However, any other age groups are welcome to use Connect to search for activity in their city. If Connect is only aimed for older people to use, they may not want to use it as this would label themselves as old

Feature of the receipt The receipt shows the date, time and location for the chosen activity
A map gives guidance of how to walk towards the activity after getting off the bus and how long will it take to walk there A contact number of the activity is included on the receipt in-case the user might need more information about the activity or need help with getting to the activity The departure and return journey shows which bus to get and what time to be at the bus stop to get there on time for the activity. It also indicates which stop and how many stops they should get off from, this information is displayed on their printed receipt
If the journey requires an exchange of transport, a map will include the walking journey between bus stops and the time needed
The dotted lines on the receipt indicate that the receipt can be folded into the size of the concessionary travel pass so it can be placed in a card sleeve, put into pockets or slotted into wallets and purses
After getting home form the search, the receipt can be placed on the fridge to be a reminder of the chosen activity
Logo & Colour
No: f8ae00 The name Connect is used, as the service aims to connect people together via activities and recede social isolation. Also, using one word allows older people to easily remember the brand and it’s service A bright orange colour is chosen for the brand as it is welcoming and friendly. Also, the colour lifts out the white and black text to make it easier to read by providing a greater contrast
