Fireman Breakfast

On May 11, 2013, Fire Station #86 in North Hollywood held a Pancake Breakfast. North Hollywood Key clubbers went to volunteer to help. They volunteered to serve the breakfast, decorate the station, and help clean up after wards. It was a great turnout as there were many people came to join the breakfast buffet. They were many different events at the fire station besides the breakfast. The minions from Despicable Me came and took pictures with the children. At the side there was a CPR class. A band performed for the crowds eating their pancakes. And finally, the firemen themselves had an activity where people could try out the actual hoses they use. Unfortunately, the firemen had to leave couple of the times during the breakfast but they came back safe and enjoyed the rest of the fundraiser. Many of the Key club members said they had a great time and wished to do it next year as well.

Relay for Life Relay for Life was held in Walter Reed Middle School on May 18-19, 2013. North Hollywood HS Key Club was able to raise over $800 for cancer research. During the event, Key Club booth sold various items such as baked goods, accessories, watermelons, and lemonades. Most of the officers were able to stay overnight since they had raised $100 each. Many different people gathered to celebrate, to remember, and to fight back cancer. It was also a special month for Relay for Life as well since it was American Cancer Society’s 100th birthday.

OTC

SERVICE

D16 met on June 1, 2013 at John Burroughs HS for Officer Training Conference. About 70 White Tigers joined for the intense officer training taught by our divisional boards. There were individual workshops for different officers in the beginning. After the workshops and the food break, Rebecca Lee and Tyler Szeto led a power point on PTP. They discussed what PTP was and how we can help. Then Pia Esguerra had a presentation about Project Jumpstart and talked about different ideas to accomplish it. Nora Borosak and our LTG, Claudia Diaz, talked about Project Eliminate and the final presentation, “The Impacts We Make”, was led by Eduardo Santoyo and Jeannica Tan. During the OTC, many Key Club members were able to bond and become closer as a division.
