Letter From the Editor Hello! It’s been a while. For those who don’t know me, I’m YeChan Lee, the Bulletin Editor for North Hollywood HS. My job is to make and share this news letter with every Key Clubbers. In this issue, I will be going through what PTP is, cover past and future events, and provide useful tips. It doesn’t matter if you are returning Key Clubbers or are freshly joined new comers, this “guide” will be a benefit to having a fun Key Club life. D16 Ice Skating Fundraiser On August 31st, 2013, D16 had a joint fundraiser for PTP at two locations: Pickwick Ice Station and Valencia Ice Station. All White Tigers were invited and welcome to participate in any of the ice rinks. The Pickwick ice rink held their fundraiser from 2PM to 4PM while the Valencia ice rink held theirs from 1PM to 4:15PM. Many Key Clubbers were able to enjoy quality times with their friends and families as well with other members from different schools. In total, Burbank area raised about $161.50 and Valencia are was able to raise about $126. All the proceeds will be counted towards PTP.
Buddy Club Fundraiser
Burbank HS and NHHS Key Club held their buddy club event on August 29th, 2013, at Shakey’s Pizza Parlor. From 5PM to 8PM, the receipts were collected for the fundraiser. The goal for this event was to raise money for PTP as well as interacting with other Key Clubbers from different schools. Many Key Clubbers came to the event and they had a fun time coming closer to their goals and spending time with each other.
PTP Explained Pediatric Trauma Program, or PTP for short, is one of the biggest projects that Key Clubbers are working on so far. The CNH district came up with this project in 1994 and has raised and donated over thousands of dollars. But what does PTP do exactly? PTP partners up with many different hospitals in CNH district and creates funds for various uses. The money will be used to train doctors and nurses, to purchase medical equipments, and to fund outreach programs in the communities. Our goal is to decrease and prevent accidental deaths among children and in order for us to do that, we need to work harder and reach our goals.
Extra Tips Here are some helpful tips for a happy Key Club experience: • • • • •
Key Club is mainly divided into districts, regions, and divisions. North Hollywood HS is a part of CNH district, Region 7, and Division 16 Cheers are necessities in your Key Club lives. Be sure to memorize most of them. You don’t know any cheers? Don’t worry, it’ll be covered at school meetings and DCM’s Remember, you can only get hours if you: o Become a member, meaning turning in application and the $11 fee o Attend an event once a month, just going to meetings won’t earn you any • If you have any questions, comments, or concerns, don’t be shy to contact any officers, don’t bite. We welcome everyone’s voices so don’t be afraid to share!
