Gotham West, located on West 45th Street in Manhattan, transforms a previously condemned block in Hell’s Kitchen into one of the largest residential developments in Manhattan in decades. The project demonstrates that complex, large-scale affordable housing developments are difficult, but also still possible in New York. The project has 1,258 apartments in four buildings, including 556 market-rate rentals in a 31-story tower that will help affordable housing elsewhere in the city.

Alumni window frames are being replaced into black iron ones . This new combination transgress the raw quality In 1975, just as New York City was spiraling toward a fiscal collapse, it condemned most of a square block of warehouses, factories and stables in Hell’s Kitchen for a housing development. The site on West 45th Street is at last transformed into one of the largest residential developments in Manhattan in decades.

The execution of this project is based on two major considerations: 1. The primary of the project is intended to create connections between nature and artifact. We try to build a public open space between the nature sceneries and the bike ways. 2. The design task is to build a toilet facility with a recreation area for the tourists and local inhabitants. Because the project has many characteristics, with crossed

overlapped, and various functional spaces. We use the bearing wall system to maximize interior space and use wood beams to lighten the weight of the roof. It is based on the specific concern that contributes to the nature environment. We use the solar energy system to create power and maintain the river water to flush the toilet. It is not simply a toilet facility, but rather brings a bigger idea about establishing a public space that enhances the interaction of this area.

The old Croton aqueduct has been decommissioned for over a century. Existing NYC cemeteries will reach capacity in the next 20 years. Forgotten underground tunnels provide space for an urban archive of human remains. Light counteracts the underground darkness in an archive that shifts and fills across centuries. Water bears significant meaning in ritual and religious beliefs—its varied qualities offer comfort and emotional resonance.
LEFT VIEW FROM CENTRAL PARK RESERVOIR BELOW DIFFERENT TYPOLOGIES OF CEMETERY IN NEW YORK
As a byproduct of resomation. Returning sacred water to the aqueduct symbolizes infinite connection with past generations. The flow of time heals loss; the flow of water aids in letting go. Responding to contextual circumstance, the archive is zoned for different stages of mourning. Immersion in the tunnel is an intimate experience with family. Emergence is a moment of release.

Critic: Kate Orff, GSAPP, Columbia University Site Location: Wastewater Treatment 145St, New York, US. Project Program: Factory, Artificial Islands , Park Program Used: Rhinoceros, Grasshopper, 3D Studio Max, Autocad, CNC, Adobe Photoshop and Illustator.
The priority of this design is to transform the conceptions of urban waterfront to include an emphasis on soft infrastructure, robust marine habitat, and new forms of programming and energy. The design strategy of this project is to reuse the by-product from Wastewater treatment plant and the dredge soil from the bottom of the river. We can produce new types of landscape units by combining these two types of soil.
15
There are four types of island that made by sludge and dredge, the first one is soft shoreline which located along the waterfront, the second one is floating island which design for water filtration, the third one is mollusk farming which provides different kinds of mollusk habitation that increases the diversity of animals and plants in the river, and the fourth one is fixed island which is a new landform that can be transform through time.
