The New Trend on the Other Side of the Galaxy

by Jack Robinson

It was a cold night in March, which day it was, I forgot. All I can seem to remember about this fantastical event was hot it started and what followed. I went outside to smoke a cigarette. It was around midnight, and it was quiet, which made sense for how cold it's been recently.

In the distance though, I heard this low hum, kind of like a dryer maybe a couple rooms over. It started gaining in noise, and by mid-cigarette I had dropped it to see extraterrestrial life before my eyes. A big hovering spaceship playing... Funkadelic? Now this was something extraordinary.

Before I could even take a picture with my phone I was beamed up into the ship. Upon entrance, I was situated in an old leather couch next to two foreign entities, one kinda looked like Fozzie Bear from the Muppets, and the other was sort of an amorphous translucent blob. They had told me that they wanted someone from earth to record a show for the, on the near exoplanet of Drithrox-97Q. Why not, right? I agreed, and they started flying me outside of our relative solar system. This was insane, while they were headed to the exoplanet they had told me that they had been observing earth for a few decades and they were looking for a worthy reporter to journey with them to the nearby exoplanet, and that I was the first who had agreed. We made a stop around the Crab Nebula to pick up food, and while the guys/creatures had stopped to eat, I decided to ask them their names. The Fozzie Bear looking one was named Euthurpa, and the blob's name was Xyzzliquel'ia, but for the sake of English I used Xyixxz.

The food at the nebula store was weird, but edible. All kinds of weird gummies, meat products, and even intergalactic slushies were available, and I decided to be brave and pick one slushy up. I gotta admit, the clerk looked at me weird when I handed him $2 and he was probably expecting some other form of payment, it was cool though as Eurthurpa handed him the right amount and got me back onto the ship.

After about another Earth hour we had arrived at the exoplanet. This place must've been what heaven was like. So many different species all conglomerated here, for what was to be the best intergalactic festival in ages. To even call it Woodstock would've been downplaying it. There were beautiful ladies of all shapes, sizes, and kinds, and increasingly more people kept hopping out of their interstellar rides just to be here. I had no idea that my hosts who had grabbed me had gotten me a press pass as well.

So, I stayed for about two weeks at this exoplanet, for the greatest party of all time. All kinds of music and groups and bands played for 50 exoplanet hours, the best part being I was never tired, and that everything blended into one another as the party never seemed to stop.

My hosts had found me in the enormous crowd and brought me backstage for their performance. They started unpacking and from what I could tell, they were about to commence a DJ set. They started pulling out weird star shaped records and practiced scratching a bit before hitting the stage. These guys were fantastic, pulling out all sorts of sounds I'd never heard before, just making the crowd go ballistic, and move everywhere. After their set was over I wanted to grab a quick interview, but it was already time for me to go back home.

We set off back to Earth, where it was early morning the next day. We said our goodbyes and I thanked them for brining me out for such an amazing event. I told them to grab me next time if ever an event were to happen, and they said they would, only to blast off as quickly as they came.
