Abstract FLUXUS

The aim of t his project is to perceive and plan t he landscape as a dynamic and resilient system, whic h t hrough par ticipator y processes and t he understanding of t he pr imogenial and agr icultural landscape, can conceive a new approac h to developing emerging urban centers in Guana juato, Mexico. This can be generated along t he understanding of t he actual water management and t he scarcity of t he resource in San Miguel de Allende (SMA). The proposal encourages t he undiscovered potentials of t he streams, ponds, wetlands and an old and unused water treatment plant. FLUXUS is associated wit h t he preser vation of endemic vegetation and wit h t he treatment and use of water in a place wit h t he potential to provide environmental ser vices to t he ter r itor y.

The proposal aims to make t he ter r itor y a place t hat people value and connect wit h. It questions how t he role of arc hitect-urbanist-designer would have to c hange to become a broad-based understander not only f or a project in its dif f erent scales but as an integrated and adaptable systems t hinker. Ter r itor ial systems suc h as FLUXUS can be an active agent in t he str uctur ing of a city. Proposes new ways of dealing wit h environmental problems as a tool to dr ive t he economic and social dynamics of San Miguel. Approac hes developing areas by a f lexible, receptive and adaptable way as t he society, ecological processes and t he city evolve

It includes public arc hitectural elements t hat become places t hat dignify and function as a window to dif f erent possibilities and ways of lear ning; t here, t he ter r itor y is an essential par t of t he process of t he community development.

FLUXUS <<FROM FIXED TO FLUCTUATING >>

Passing fr om defined to undefined, fr om consuming to cherishing .

FLUXUS is a ter r itor ial system t hat is shared between people, plants and animals habitats, and ecological processes. Is a place t hat people c her ish and to whic h an emotional bond is created. This system becomes a dynamic image of t he actual and future city. It reduces t he eager f or consum ption, and t heref ore, proposes a transf or mation in t he way t he landscape is f elt and lear ned. For as long as I can remember, my most valued memor ies are immersed in natural landscapes. Places in whic h t he boundar ies between f ixed and f lexible were almost non-existent. The beauty of t hose memor ies was created by t he sensations present in t hose moments. N ever t heless, t here was anot her not-so-magic par t present in t hose memor ies, in whic h what really was im por tant was to consume, t heref ore, damaging and fragmenting t he landscape. This came from a strong urge to possess, to mater ialize and to create: to make what was f lexible, f ixed. From t he last f ive years, arc hitecture has been f or me a cr itical space, in whic h a deep questioning from my c hildhood exper iences, and what t he academia proposes, began. A debate took place wit hin me: Should arc hitecture, development, and landscape be linked somehow and at a cer tain point? or t he arc hitectonic object was not hing more t hat a mere consum ption object, a f or m of acquisition and appropr iation of t he natural landscape.
