PREFACE.
SOME WORDS... Embracing the journey of melding limitless possibilities with heritage has been an enlightening experience. Initially, the weight of merging our rich heritage with the essence of boundless craftsmanship loomed large on my shoulders. Much like any endeavour of great significance, there were hurdles when our collective efforts had to synchronise seamlessly. However, with the right mix of individuals - those whose skills refined where yours might wane, and whose artistry elevated the vision - the task became not only
'Don't try to understand it. Feel it.' _ TENET
achievable but deeply enriching. There is something profoundly gratifying about

witnessing not just your project flourish, but watching it take shape alongside committed peers. Every debate, every brainstorming session, was a reminder that they were just as invested in this legacy as I was. Whilst this venture did not alter my innate belief that heritage is more than just a concept, it unquestionably deepened my appreciation for teamwork. It compelled me to push the boundaries of limitless creativity and seek the most authentic representation of our craftsmanship. There was a profound depth of learning here, surpassing any other project I've undertaken in the past.

DON’T TRY & TRSOLVE THINGS TOO QUICKLY. 2.DESIGN IS AN OPEN PROCESS, NEVER CLOSED TO IDEAS. 3.CELEBRATE DIVERSITY & PLURALISM- MULTI OVER, MONO ALWAYS. 4.KRIOL NOT WOOLSHEDS. NEVER LAZY VERNACULAR. 5.CREATE ETHICAC ARCHITECTURE THATS IDENTIFIABLE TO COTS OF PEOPLE... AN ARCHITECTURE OF PUBLIC GENEROSITY. 6.EMBRACE AMBIGUCITY & IRONY AT ALL CONTS... 7.FIND JOY IN THE NON-BEAUTIFUL- UGLY, CRWDE, RAW,SUBUME. 8.TOUCH THE GROUND IN A MULTITUDE OF WAYS...NEVER LIGHTLY. 9. BEGINNING OUR JOURNEY INTO COLLECTIVE MEMORY, WE CHOSE A SITE RICH IN CHARACTER. MY PIECE? FAR RIGHT, WELCOME TO THE CLIFTON HILL. 7
THE SITE. The first exploration of Clifton Hill was on foot. Searching the site like an “objective” survey of what we see. What was collectively most observed was the graffiti - though I personally noticed the high amount of signs. Useful, outdated, or other. On top of that, almost all of these were all altered from their original condition. The changes of graffiti, dirt, weather, and time where visibly experienced. The combination of these and the objects residue left upon the fenced-in empty yard of the factory cumulatively build into the reading of site I was interested in: reading the void. The yard was the void - the spaces that weren’t taken up by the permanent foundations of a building structure, but used as a dumping ground of sorts. The design task of Alchemy asked the following of us: You are to visit the site as a class and study its exterior fabric. In the style of Brett Whiteley’s picture ‘Alchemy’, you are to draw a portrait of this building that unpacks it’s history - An architectural character in the urban environment sitting idle while the world morphs and changes around it. Produce: Each individual is to produce 1xA2 portrait full-bleed colour (no white space) that will dovetail into the drawing either side of it.

THE WALLS
10
Facades' story Clifton Hill, an emblematic locale, showcases a rich tapestry of architectural facades, each narrating its own unique story. The walls, in varying hues and textures, echo a blend of history and contemporary design. Glass blocks, old brickwork, metallic grids, and vibrant street art all intertwine, offering a visual journey that reflects the neighborhood's evolving ethos. Among these, the rustic charm of weathered paint and the stark minimalism of numbered doorways juxtapose the bustling modern life with a nod to days gone by. These facades, while diverse, collectively epitomize the spirit of Clifton Hill: a harmonious blend of the old and new, tradition and innovation, and artistry and functionality. THE ITEMS

Living/ Life "Tokens of lived experiences, footprints of fleeting moments. An abandoned bicycle, consumed by nature's embrace, whispers tales of youthful adventures and spontaneous rides. Dilapidated bricks and pebbles harbor secrets of forgotten paths, while a vibrant crosswalk teems with life, echoing the rhythm of hurried footsteps and lingering gazes. Mural-covered walls and the soft hum of a passing bus weave stories of daily rituals and passionate rebellions. Beneath the looming towers, every corner, every item, seems to murmur a collective narrative, a tapestry of dreams and routines. "

PLANNING /ANALYSIS. User Profiles... Majority of the People are Early 40s, they are more likely to enjoy their weekend with their children. People in their 30s would enjoy weekend cultural events. While young pupils and uni students might be more attracted by the social activities in the city center. Those Retired people are more interested in activities held in the area. And also it is recognizable that indigenous residents are playing their role in this community. 20% of the residents have different cultural backgrounds, England,New Zealand , Greece , The US, Asia . Our Visual Art Institute should consider emerging cultural conflict in the institution to achieve social sustainability.

WIDGETS: HOW TO FLOW INTO THE STORY "Design," as it often unravels, finds itself caught between articulation and abstraction. Just like the term 'composition', which mirrors both the essence and the elements of a drawing, design straddles the line between concept and creation. It's neither purely imaginative nor strictly functional; it's the intertwining of both. Drawing insights from the locale, vestiges of forgotten moments merge with a shared societal memory, culminating into a realm of reverie. Within this realm, time melds; the epochs of yesteryears, the immediacy of now, the allure of the morrow, and the enigmas of the undefined coalesce seamlessly. Desires, veiled within our innermost recesses, intertwine with the tangible residues of the surroundings, echoing the heartbeat of the community and its dwellers. From this rich tapestry that crafts "Brewed Boundlessness," the following facets emerge: • Initiation: The Brewery and The Horizon • Migration: As patrons and wooden beams intertwine • Calibration: Count of amber-filled containers • Documentation: Wood, Artworks, Signals, Convictions The analogy to the spiritual journey, much like 'design' as a terminology, serves merely as a narrative instrument. It's not about religious fervor but rather the sacredness of community rituals. These rituals, once dormant, found voice in "Brewed Boundlessness," resonated through the trimester's milestones, and echo profoundly in the final rendition, "LIMITLESS".
What do we look for in narratives/storytelling? [1] Set the scene [2] Evoking language [3] Describe the landscape, entourage, time, history, scene [4] Importance of senses - sight, smell, sound, touch, taste [5] Situate the project in a social setting [6] Be poetic. DESCRIPTION
"Mess, or perhaps it's better called chaos—that's the narrative whirling through the countless stories of Clifton Hill. The water floods and recedes, life alicycles from birth to death, and travellers hurry through as if chased by the wind. Yet, through all these twists and turns, the land beneath our feet remains steadfast. Nature, with its rivers and waters, may bring disasters, but it also offers the brew to heal our wounds, a tonic to forget our sorrows. So, what do you say we all head to the local, eh? That snug pub around the corner where we all know each other's names. Kegs are flying, and you can almost hear the clink of glasses. Ah, this is living, isn't it? Let's enjoy these pints and these moments. After all, history's boomerang is ever in motion, and who knows what it'll bring round next? But hey, no worries—tomorrow is just another day of sun, right? Now that we're all settled in, pint in hand, let's get down to brass tacks. We've got a cracking story to tell you—a project that's as riveting as it is timely. So, hold onto your hats because we're about to embark on an adventure of design, pulling in the highs and lows, and the chaos, to make something that does justice to this wonderful, messy world we're all a part of.

SAFETY!
In our spatial analysis, spaces are categorized by
usage duration, from 15 minutes to 12 hours,
with darker visual shades denoting longer use. The
Auditorium emerges as the central hub of activity,
while apartments require design nuances for personal
well-being. Factors like natural light and spatial
flexibility enhance productivity in various spaces, from
Laboratories to Offices. With safety as a core concern
in Workshops and Labs, and privacy vital for office
spaces, optimizing each area according to its distinct
usage pattern is crucial for maximal functionality and
efficiency.

TO RADICALLY CHANGE THE CLINICAL DEVELOPMENT IN CITIES AND LASTING IMPACT ON OUR NEIGHBORHOODS FROM THE DUAL AND OPPOSITIONAL SIDES AT PLAY WITHIN THE ARTS SECTOR. 57
SITE ANALYSIS (THROUGH THE BREAKDOWN OF ALCHEMY). We began our concept development through the breakdown of our collective site drawing, alchemy. Following the passage of time through the depiction of the Clifton Hill Shot Tower and Factory site throughout its many ages, the panels are a key tool of site analysis, displaying important themes of narrative, histories and characters that create a clear depiction of the contextual setting for our proposition moving forward. Themes such as conflict, industry, the shot towers, the passage of time, nature's contrast and gentrification became prevalent.
58
59
Beginning with our first assignment; conservation and renewal, ideas such as urbanism, preservation, shroud and circulation have been depicted in our drawings. We have extracted and combined the main elements of our drawings to collate this collage which has led to the question; How can the MVAI preserve and enhance the heritage-listed site?
60
The Manufacturing and Commodity project drew out the ideas of interlace and sustainability, forming the question; What factors of sustainability must be considered for the manufacturing and commodity processes?
61
The Dissemination and Storage assignment highlighted the theme of the system, which then proposed the question; How can back-of-house spaces enhance the exhibition space?
62
The Academy assignment focuses on the themes of heritage, functionalism, intersection and the publicness of the rural realm, provoking the questions of; How can regional arts institutes influence our design and, can art transcend establishment and create community connection?

KEY IDEAS.
68
The Victorian Government suggests contemporary learning should allow internal and external open sharing spaces for students and teachers.Besides , the spaces should be a mixture of cultural conflict to strengthen the bounding with people from different countries. It is a contrast to the traditional learning environment , the emphasis on teacher and student hierarchy , rigid planning, standardized system and physical classes Besides , to form a comprehensive sharing environment , biological diversity is essential in our proposal , the function of greenery is stress relieving , water and is mentally restorative . Therefore , the water and landscape element would across all the programs to form a healthy and biodiversity environment. We analyzed 5 type of gardens Formal Gardens are, Symmetry, with Focal Points and Central Axis Natural Gardens underscore the importance of emulating native landscapes and ecosystems. Landscape Gardens take cues from nature rather than following rigid geometric patterns. By comparing all of these garden types, we choose Natural Gardens, as we consider Sustainable Integration.
69
ADDITIONAL.
We looked into several landscaping and public square precedents, summarized some common components that nowadays are highly liked to be used.
We make the architecture radical by mixing the tectonics from different eras to symbolize the idea of Art.It is boundless , limitless .These are the possible combination of classical , industrial and postmodern tectonics. 70
The Alchemy of the Limitless is a diagram that integrates all the key components of the presentation that have led to the core ideas for our concept design. 71
72
GARDEN LINKAGE. 73
CONCEPT MASSING.
The shot town is activated by the art institution merges with the healing garden, the paths are curvy to motivate people to walk longer. The water crosses all the programs for mental restorative purpose. The landscape formed with the existing contour to archive the natural garden tactic underscores the importance of emulating native landscapes and ecosystems. The heart of the institute is a sunken platform allowing a transparent , idea sharing environment between the academy. The academy is fluid internally and externally, open between teachers and students. The aging school programs, vertical studio ,and the mixture of cultural spaces .Emphasis on equality , respect on cultural conflict. In here, people with multicultural backgrounds could have a strong bond here. This master plan is a combination of social , environmental and economical sustainable considerations.A silent manifesto confronts the society nowadays.
74
75
THE CULTURAL LANDSCAPE OF CONFLICT.
76
This drawing illustrates the capitalist situation in this contemporary world in a sarcastic way.People are helpless when the rich monopolizes the urban form and shape. The labor suffers in this unequal society for profit to make a living.People are mentally distorted as the money define one’s success in this world. They try to against the reality, never have any change. However, we are proposing a sustainable solution as a silent manifest to confront this situation.

DESCRIPTION Coop’s Fashion! The Melbourne Fashion Festival is going on and the venue is Coop’s Fashion Hub! The lights seemed to turn the hill into daytime. The neon spotlights were 10,000 feet high and reached up to the clouds. Featuring a line-up of Australia’s leading designers, a celebration of both ready-to-wear and red-carpet dressing, with a mix of statement-making collections taking inspiration from glamour, extravagant silhouettes, and individual style. What a tremendous sparkling event! Oh, let’s stroll around and look at the backstage! Aww, it’s such a mess but isn’t that how after all night taking fights, they housed such a closing runway event? This shiny runway is the most heart-winning place no doubt about that! The top chunk is the most important zone for all the brainstorming areas by industry-led designers. They even have a tiny boutique display with those gorgeous collections! Those are not for sale, but you can still get them by placing an order in the “Info Fashion” booth. The grand masquerade was held at shot tower factory. The lights seemed to turn the hill into daytime. The neon spotlights were 10,000 feet high and reached up to the clouds. Imagine, if you will, the presence of almost every famous and respectable person. Strangely no one knew where the organisers, the Coopers, were, they hadn't been spotted by anyone all night. The cacophony of music drowned out the sound of the looms that had been working on the first floor, the factory's greatest treasure, the secret to bringing life back to this lifeless place that had been abandoned for years. The looms worked day and night to weave the strange fabrics that wrapped around the factory, the mysterious and beautiful fabrics that brought cooprs textiles to life. In the highest part of the factory, in the design room, a figure hidden in the darkness watches indifferently all the songs and dances below, watching his fashion show. At this juncture in our design process, our thoughts have largely revolved around form, function, and aesthetics, with considerations of risk and safety yet to be integrated comprehensively. But the giant scissors is definitely one exsiting RISK...

DESCRIPTION In the deepening twilight of an evening in Clifton Hill, the gates of Coops garments and apparel opened with grandeur, presenting both beauty and risks intertwined. This temple of elegance crafted twin towers that spoke to the soul of the city's style. The Spiral relic, showcasing traditions and craftsmanship, hid the potential of being marred by rust or the sharp kiss of a sewing machine needle, while the glistening modern creation displayed the bold aspirations of the new age, yet the glass bridges brought whispers of fragility. The interlace of pathways leading the workers and visitors providing a ride in capsules stopping any floor they want with a vertical circulation of old school analog pulleys which is fun and riskier at the same time . On the right, the flow of importing fabric, relaxing, and sewing carried the unspoken risks of fabric catching fire or the sudden bump of forklifts. To the left, the display and shopfront housed fitting rooms and product windows where the gap between interlaces might cause a misstep and a fall. Beneath the grand dome was an atrium, a complex shared space, where designers and tailors were engaged in creation, their motion a thrilling yet precarious movement. The fabric rolls in the open racks loomed with the latent threat of collapse, and the very tools that breathed life into garments stood ready to snag an errant finger or stain the clothes, the fabric even any masterwork freshly cooked by the designer. It is the garment industries heart and soul, sewn into fabric, woven into memory, a chapter in the city's story, penned in threads and silhouettes, both enchanting and cautionary, a celebration beneath the gantry. SUBJECT : NEW DEVEOPMENT IN CHIFTION HILL. Dear Editor, I had the privilege to visit the New Coops garment factory, or should I say not. The pathways and entrances need to be more accurate with a clear indication. Making it easy to get lost, especially for a shopaholic. The institute symbolises fast fashion and is cramped with migrant workers. Stitching the same garment, which I now have five of! The interior, especially the tube slide, is designed for motion sickness. A great solution would be promoting taking the stairs, and then we all fit into what we buy. In a nutshell, this place is a hell hole of capitalism, draining all our retirement money and making it a national issue. P.S. The relators were unfriendly and refused to show me some of the expensive garments. All I have to say is that it is a big mistake! Concerned citizens, Han & Hrisheeta

DESCRIPTION An old factory brimming with museum collections, occupied, filled, never belonging to its appearance permeated with a literary atmosphere. There are no porters in sight, instead there are drones all over the sky carrying goods. This mind-boggling combination of modern technology and goods is avant-garde, imaginative, flexible, and substitutive, like a group of new age people Shouting against the old era. So here, drones and robotic arms replace human, and what's behind the computer program is perfect and precision. It's the opposite of what you'd imagine to be unpowered, uncharged, unmanageable. The jobs here are being taken over by robots, all by robots. The gallery is more than just a traditional exhibition space. The exterior is designed to challenge the norms of traditional architecture, with mixed yet impactful forms. Each wall is like the narrator of a story, a blend of old and modern, rough and delicate qualities. The design of the interior Spaces uses curves and folds to create a continuous sense of movement that leads visitors into the various display areas. The rough brick walls conceal countless warehouse Spaces, while the gaps radiate artistic light. Each warehouse becomes a secret art display space, allowing visitors to explore the stored treasures while also being deeply attracted by various works of art. The whole building is like a living entity, and every breath speaks of the intimate relationship between storage and art, challenging the boundaries of traditional space. As if inspired by the TENENT, the movie, Christopher Nolan, was the giant 747 can hit the well-protected arts vault. Even now perhaps the vehicle approaching the unloading area, can be catch on fire, can be hit loading panels, can be overturned. Not every daily working routine is safe as much, but some chaos can come with smoke and dust from the direction of south pathway. Chaos, is that what it, is that what it shows up. Electronics are helpful, are efficient, are reliable. They are the most stable part to run this storage space, they can be trust, but not always. A sudden signal lose on camera, a spark on the lifting arms, a smoke comes out unnoticeable from the landing drones.
This time, for the storage, we tried to make those RISKS already brings some problem... It is happening...

DESCRIPTION Version1: In the heart of an architectural marvel lies a fusion of imagination and functionality, aptly named "The Academy & The Studio." Here, lines blur between tradition and innovation, with geometric spatialization guiding one's senses through a labyrinth of inspiration. As if a master painter has splashed a canvas with dreams, diverse elements overlay harmoniously, creating a symphony of ideas in a singular space. Yet, amidst this artistic fervor, one can't overlook the hints of danger — a precarious balance that only heightens the space's allure. However, fear not, for woven seamlessly into the fabric of this design are intricate safety measures, ensuring that while the heart races with excitement, it remains cushioned by the comfort of security. Version 2: Nestled in the epicenter of architectural brilliance, "The Academy & The Studio" emerges as a tapestry of creative fervor and pragmatic design. It's a realm where the past romances the future, and geometric contours craft a sensory voyage through a kaleidoscope of innovation. Envision a canvas, where dreams manifest in vivid hues and layers, marrying diverse elements into a harmonious tableau. Yet, amid this mosaic of imagination, subtle whispers of danger linger, adding an intoxicating edge to its allure. Still, fret not, for interwoven within this masterpiece are meticulous safety measures, ensuring that while the spirit soars in wonder, it is ever cradled in the embrace of security.
Parcels are secure. Things are all located in their own place. Builder with PPE. Everything looks fine and safe. But we all know that RISKS always exsist....

PUSH HARD FROM WEEK8 -WEEK13. 103
POST MID-SEM CLARITY. What is the issue? Clifton Hill was once a suburb that thrived and celebrated the arts. The strength of the arts sector is unfortunately now that of a bygone era, leading to various forms of creativity being lost within the community. This is not a specific phenomenon to Clifton Hill, but one felt across our nation. At a state level, this is due to the lack of funding within the creative industry, the result of which is a lack of; creative spaces, support of the artist and the marketing of the arts. Hence, both creative spaces and the artist remain vulnerable and at risk in Victoria.
What is the solution? Inspired by the Bauhaus Artist Movement in the early 1920s, the guiding principle of which was, to allow many art forms to communicate and influence one another, rather than exist separately. Similarly, our approach is to create space for the unbridled expression of the artist and the commercial market, to not only coexist but prosper.
How do we do this? By merging together the key components of Avant-Garde architecture + landscape through the process of Alchemy.

JUST BE LIMITLESS LIMITLESSNESS. 123
FINAL MISSION STATEMENT.
The Limitless Institution in Clifton Hill smartly juggles different priorities. It honors the past by sinking an original factory underground and creating an Underground Heritage Walk, offering a fresh perspective on history. Taking a leaf from the collaborative spirit of the Bauhaus Movement, it encourages a friendly interaction between different artistic fields and the commercial world, through public spaces and storefronts, nurturing a thriving creative community. The project's modern design, inspired by well-known architectural styles, combines bold industrial features with the soft touch of nature, showcasing a modern outlook blended with traditional craftsmanship. It aims for urban renewal by bringing back a vibrant creative hub, improving city living and promoting community ties. Through smart design, this project marries nature and architecture, creating a comforting space for artists. This supportive environment helps enhance quality artistry and product creation, reviving forgotten craftsmanship. In doing so, it spins a self-sustaining tale for the arts and stands as a meaningful example of how urban art institutions can encourage creativity and engage the community.
