Endovenous Laser Treatment (EVLT) & Radiofrequency Ablation (RFA) Post-Operative Care Tips this time, keep the dressing site dry and clean.

Please follow the below advice after the surgery: •

Recovery from EVLT/RFA is usually trouble-free. It is normal to feel a tightening sensation in your leg for a few days.

You should keep your leg elevated when sitting or lying during this 48-hour period.

Take your pain killers as prescribed.

It is also normal to experience the following symptoms during the next two to three days:

For the next two weeks:

Mild pain

Cramping

Avoid prolonged periods of standing.

Bruising

Swelling

Avoid vigorous exercises, jogging, sit ups, leg lifts and squats.

The treated area may • feel tender. There may be discolouration (red-purple) • and you may experience some bruising for two to three weeks. Your leg was wrapped with a compression bandage. Remove the outer brown Coban wrap after 24 hours. Remove inner white crepe bandage after 48 hours. During

Do not lift heavy objects over 5kg. Wear your compression stockings during normal daily activities. You may take them off during showers and at night in bed.

Avoid hot tub baths.

Avoid long-distance travelling.


Please seek medical attention if you experience the below symptoms: •

Fever

Feeling faint / lightheadedness, dizziness

Breathing difficulties - shortness of breath, pain with breathing

Chest pain

Increasing pain in leg

Persistent bleeding or excessive swelling of the leg

Progressive area of redness, warmth, blisters, or drainage in the leg

Persistent itching or rash in leg

Lump formations

Leg numbness

Blue or cold feet
