sig från stolen, flaxar med armar och ben i augustimörkret

SOPRANO

Instructions on how to act on stage. ’Care for the plant’ means touch the leaves and stem.

Lean towards the plant and speak into the microphone which is hidden among the leaves. There is an electronic file playing while you are speaking. Try to fit the dynamics in both the electronics and the voice.

Lean down on the ground and make rhythms with the gravel.

Make a contiuous z-sound as long as the arrow indicates.

Breath with an open mouth.

Sing normally and make a diminuendo to no dynamic (o = niente)

Speak.

Whisper (no tone).

Sing normally with clear consonants.

Start singing normally and end the word with consonant sounds (speaking voice).

Free tempo. Make a glissando with closed mouth.

Sing normally with legato, almost a glissando effect.

Sing normally but make a tremolo on each tone to make it sound almost like a laughter.

VIOLIN Instructions on how to act on stage. Light a lantern with matches’ means to pick up the lantern on the table and light it up.

Instructions on how to act on stage. Water the plant.

Lean towards the plant and speak into the microphone which is hidden among the leaves. There is an electronic file playing while you are speaking. Try to fit the dynamics in both the electronics and the voice.

Play a natural harmonic. The lower staff means the fingering and the upper staff is the result.

Hard pressure.

Molto vibrato. Play on both first and second string. The vibrato will only be on the first string.

Go from normal position with the bow to a position near the bridge.

Mezzo legno tratto (m.l.tr.). Play normally with the bow half hair/half wood. Make a glissando from c3 to a little bit lower c3 and back again.

Legno tratto (l.tr.). Play normally with the wooden part of the bow. Play the harmonic with a normal bow.

Play legno tratto, the wooden part of the bow in circles.

Play on three strings high up on the fingerboard with the bow. The position on the fingerboard is important to make it possible to play on three strings.

Free tempo. Start playing pizzicato. Then play natural harmonics. Keep the last tone as long as the line indicates.

Play a glissando. Follow the graphics. Play from no dynamic (o = niente) to forte.

Damp all strings and move the damping hand up and down along the strings. In this piece, this is done at the same time as the bow is playing on the bridge (no tone, only noise). The dynamic in parantesis is the force needed for reaching the upper dynamic. An extract from the score with many different playing styles. Start with playing normally with the bow near the bridge. Then make a short tone playing mezzo legno battuto. Play thereafter on the instrument body with a normal bow. Go back to playing mezzo legno battuto. Change to mezzo legno tratto and follow the graphics showing the bow pressure. When the pressure gets more intense, the bow style goes from m.l.tr. to normal.

Play on the bridge with a normal bow. Go from string to string along the bridge.

Play on the bridge with a normal bow. Repeat the gesture over the bridge as long as the arrow indicates.

Play legno battuto on the fourth string while damping it.

Play legno tratto on the fourth and third string. Blow air on the strings meanwhile. Go to playing with a normal bow on the instrument body.

There are two rocks lying in the plant pot. Take them up and rub them to make a smooth continuos noise.

KEYBOARDS Harmonium Instructions on how to act on stage. Start to slow down the flapping motion (arms up and down).

Drag the nails along the keys to create a smooth clatter sound.

Blow air on the keys with your mouth close to the keys to get as much friction as possible.

Drag the nails along the wooden part of the harmonium (on the surface above the keys). Make rhythm.

Play with right hand on the keys.

The drones.

Make a bellow motion with the left hand to create a slow tremolo.

Free tempo. Play on the keys.

Play a cluster on the keys.

Synth

Showing all the settings on the synthesizer. This is playing mode, in a middle octave with a Guitar sound.

Special sounds

Indicates what the voice will do. Here it is breathing in.

Play on a tin can covered with a balloon. The balloons end is cut of and pulled over the tin can. Touch the surface with your hand.

Play on a tin can covered with a balloon. The balloon is pierced with a string. When you drag the string it will be amplified through the balloon and the tin can and make a roaring sound.

Electronics Start the first soundfile on the mp3-player. The length of the file is 1 minute and 5 seconds. Here you can hear a voice.

The electronic soundfile. Here you can hear a voice breathing.
