Teen Center Outreach

The Downtown YMCA Teen Center offers a safe, friendly, and casual atmosphere for teens ages 12-18. We provide adult supervision and a fun place to hang out with friends. Our staff builds positive relationships with teens through games, special events, and programs created by teens and YMCA staff.

Swim to Work, and BYMOC (Boys and Young Men of Color) are both initiatives of the YMCA Teen Center focusing on career readiness, selfesteem, character building, and community engagement.

Group Swim Lessons

We offer swim classes for infants, children, teenagers, and adults. Choose from weekday, evening, and weekend classes all year long. Morning classes may also be available based on season and interest.

Private And Semi Private Swim Lessons

Our instructors can help you overcome apprehension, improve technique, or assist in developing a plan for endurance swimming.

Lessons are 30 minutes and scheduled by appointment.

Swim Starters

Develops water enrichment and aquatic readiness in children ages six months to three years. This category focuses on developing swim readiness skills through fun and confidence-building experiences. Parents also learn how to supervise children in the water, prevent accidents, and plan for emergencies. Parents will be in the water with their child.

Swim Basics

Develops personal water safety and basic swimming skills in students of all ages. Swimmers develop a higher level of comfort in the water by practicing safe water habits, engaging in underwater exploration, and learning how to swim to safety and exit if they fall into a body of water.

Swim Strokes

Introduces and refines stroke technique in older students. After mastering the fundamentals, students learn additional water safety skills and building stroke techniques. They develop skills that prevent chronic disease, increase social-emotional and cognitive well-being, and foster a lifetime of physical activity.
