REGISTRATION Y Member (YM)

Allows full use of the Downtown and Dunigan Family YMCAs, including all membership benefits. Members also receive free or reduced pricing on programs.

Non-Member (NM)

Participants who enroll in individual YMCA programs (swim lessons, basketball, etc.) without being a YMCA Member.

Refund Policy

A full credit or refund for all programs will be given before the first class begins. After the first class, participants have the option of receiving a pro-rated refund or credit on their account for the following reasons: • Participant is unable to attend class for a medical reason (doctor’s note required).

• If the YMCA cancels a program or class.

• CREDIT ONLY: Child demonstrates no interest in the program or is struggling with participating in class segments. Parent will receive a pro-rated credit on their account.

All credits will expire after 1 year. Requesting a credit or refund does not guarantee you will receive one, it must be approved by the program director. All credits and refunds must be requested at the front service desk by filling out a Credit/Refund Request form.

FOR YOUTH DEVELOPMENT CHILD CARE Babysitting 101

Would you know what to do if a child was choking while you were babysitting? Would you know how to call 911 or how to handle a nosebleed? Babysitting 101 will teach you all these things and more! Babysitting 101 is a preparation program for boys and girls 11-13 years of age. Gift Certificates are available for purchase. Students need to bring their own lunch.

School Days Off Program

We know that working parents face a dilemma when school is cancelled due to single day holidays, short breaks, and inclement weather. So we have filled in the gaps with the School Day Off program. We offer supervised games, swim time, open gym, and activities in our youth center for school age children (K-6) from 7:00 am - 5:30 pm. Each child should bring a sack lunch, swim suit, and towel daily.

Both the Downtown and Dunigan Branches will be open on any day that school is closed due to inclement weather. Spots are limited. Fee* includes childcare for all of the above days plus school days off due to inclement weather.

FOR YOUTH DEVELOPMENT EDUCATION AND LEADERSHIP Academic Enrichment Boy Scout Troop Program

The Y hosts programs for both Boy Scouts and Cub Scouts of all ages. Boys can experience a variety of Aquatics, Sports, and Fitness programs offered to fulfill badges, rank achievements, belt loops, and pins. Programs can also be customized to suit the interests of the group or just for fun. Call 401-9622 or 423-9622 for more information.

Girl Scout Journey Program

The YMCA has partnered with the Girl Scouts to offer programs that support the Girl Scout Journey Program.

For a fee of $7 per scout, we’ll help you Discover, Connect, and Take Action through various workshops and classes.

FOR YOUTH DEVELOPMENT SWIM, SPORTS, AND PLAY

Competitive Swimming & Sports Riptides Swim Team - October - December The YMCA Riptides Swim Team provides a supportive and encouraging environment where the concepts of teamwork and sportsmanship are consistently reinforced. Each swimmer will learn, grow, and thrive by developing the skills and relationships they need to be healthy, confident, and connected to others.

The team is open to children ages 6-18.

Swimmers must be able to complete 50 meters without stopping, have the ability to swim freestyle and backstroke, and complete at least an hour practice.

Riptides Stroke Technique Clinic

This month-long clinic is an ideal program for swimmers who want to improve their four competitive strokes and starts and turns. Swimmers will practice and apply drills to make their strokes more efficient, as well as build their overall stamina and endurance. To attend the clinic, swimmers must be able to swim one length of the pool using the crawl stroke and backstroke without stopping. This class meets 3 days per week.

Archery Lessons - Level 2

This level is for those individuals that are already comfortable shooting at the 10 meter distance. This program will introduce new challenges and techniques while using a variety of bows. Class is taught by a certified instructor, and all equipment is provided for this class.

This clinic is designed to teach the basics of fielding, throwing, hitting, and teamwork in a fun instructional setting. This League is designed to build on the foundation of our Instructional Baseball program.

Focus is continued on skill development, rules of baseball, fundamentals, and YMCA character values while beginning work on position play, hitting, and game play. Our goal is to assist each player with the advancement of their understanding of the game of baseball and individual skill level, while working up to actual game play. Sessions begin with five practice sessions and then conclude with a six game and practice rotation over an eight week session.

Our fundamental youth basketball league is designed to focus on player development through fundamental skill work, sportsmanship, and team building concepts every time they take the floor. Players receive 7 games, a single-elimination tournament, a weekly one-hour instructor-led practice session, instructor coach, league t-shirt, and tournament championship t-shirts for the winning team. Practices are optional but highly encouraged for skill development.

The YMCA Sport Academy will host its first golf league (8 weeks) at Thunderbolt Pass Golf Course. Additional program details are available at www.ymcaswin.org/golf.

This parent participation class introduces tumbling and agility skills. Focus is placed on 5 basic movements (run, jump, throw, catch, and climb) to help your child’s overall development.

Level 2 Intermediate Gymnastics

Now that your child has perfected their skills at the cartwheel and fundamentals on the bars, beam, and vault, it’s time to move on up! Level 2 places emphasis on strength and flexibility as participants move into more advanced skills and stations.

Participants will build on their existing foundation while adding a one-hand cartwheel, 3-second handstand, back bend from a standing position, and a pull-over on bars. First time participants receive a t-shirt.

Rock Steady Boxing gives people with Parkinson’s disease hope. All YMCA members, ages 12-13, must complete this orientation class to use the Dunigan or Downtown Wellness Centers. FOR HEALTHY LIVING YMCA’s Diabetes Prevention Program

The YMCA’s Diabetes Prevention Program is a community-based lifestyle improvement program for adults with prediabetes or at risk for developing type 2 diabetes. Its purpose is to empower adults with lasting lifestyle changes that improves their overall health and reduces their risk for developing type 2 diabetes. Hydroriders

Hydroriders are user-friendly, in-water cycling bikes that are perfect for any skill level. These biking-in-the-water group classes mix the cardio and lower-body conditioning of spin with the gentle-on-the-joints resistance of the water. The class uses stationary bikes in the pool to place riders in waist-to-chest deep water while pedaling away. The equipment allows you to adjust resistance generated by paddle wheels.

Pickleball

Pickleball is a fun game played on a badminton court, with the net lowered, using a waffle ball and composite paddles. It can be played in singles or doubles format.
