Fuji-Yoshida Sengen Shrine stands in a dense forest set off from the road by a long approach lined with stone lanterns and tall cedar trees. This shrine used to be the common starting point for climbing Mount Fuji and some dedicated climbers still begin their ascent with a prayer at the shrine before passing through the wooden torii gate. Lastly, we will explore the Wind and Bat Caves — both created by Mount Fuji’s past eruptions. The Bat Cave, named after its former winter inhabitants, is the most extensive of the caves. In total, the cave is nearly 350 meters long and has multiple large chambers and diverging tunnels to explore.
