The Family Child Care program is a unique opportunity to work from home while supporting Yokota’s families. Designed to provide supplemental childcare through athome providers, FCC offers an array of incentives that make it the perfect option for those looking for a way to earn extra income and establish a career that they can take with them to their next assignment. Ms. Tenley Thayer, Community Child Care Coordinator, explains the many benefits of the program. “Most people, if they get a job, by the time they pay for childcare, they’re not really bringing much home. So this way, they don’t have to pay for childcare. But now, a new incentive the Air Force is offering [...] is they will essentially pay you for watching your own children. So as long as you have one non-familial child in your home for a minimum of 30 hours a week, they will pay you $100 a week for any child of yours under two and $75 for your children between the ages of two and seven.” For those interested, the only out of pocket expense is the purchase of liability insurance. Providers

will also have access to a lending library stocked with any items they may need. Child-proofing materials, books, furniture, food safety items, toys and much more are available to those who are starting their FCC business. Providers also get to set their own schedule and rates, allowing freedom and flexibility that the typical 9-to-5 can’t offer.

For more information on how to become an FCC provider, scan here:

SRA LISA VILLARREAL MPF

SrA Lisa Villarreal joined the Yokota Military Personnel Flight less than a year ago and she has already made her mark as an outstanding member of customer support. SrA Villarreal has years of customer service tucked under her belt. Prior to joining the Air Force in 2017, Villarreal worked as a hostess and server. According to SrA Villarreal, that experience prepared her for work here at Yokota. “The majority of the time we’re at the terminals assisting active duty, local nationals, contractors, civilians, retirees—all kinds of people—to make sure that we’re able to provide service for them,” she explains.

At other duty assignments, Villarreal handled reenlistments, extensions and prepared Airmen for their Air Force journey in the First Term Airmen Course at the Professional Development Center. Her

diversified knowledge about the ins and outs of Air Force administrative processes have left her uniquely equipped for her role here at Yokota. “A lot of times it’s just meeting new people and figuring out their situation and seeing what we can do to assist them.” It’s clear that her work is meaningful. “Everyone has a story,” she says, “When I get to assist someone, I’m making sure that they feel comfortable and that they have a good experience.”

Outside of work, SrA Villarreal spends her time exploring Japan. She hails from a small town in southern Texas, so she seizes every chance she gets to see the sights. “The culture is just so different than what I’m used to,” she says.

“I guess, for me, the ‘hobby’ is just exploring things and having opportunities that I wouldn’t normally have.” SrA Villarreal’s adventurous nature and contagious positivity have made her an invaluable addition to Yokota’s MPF team.
