2016 was a great year for Young Living! We are excited for what this next year has to offer.

Thank you for helping us achieve another spectacular year at Young Living! As I reflect on each year, I am more impressed

amazing individuals in the world and represent an unstoppable force that stands for wellness, friendship, and being positive. Before rushing into this new year, take a moment to think back to where you were this time last year. Now notice the person you are today. Is this the person you hoped you would be? Did you do what you needed to do in order to improve? The Greek philosopher Epictetus said: “First say to yourself what you would be; and then do what you have to do.” It is critically important to know what we want to be. It is just as important to actually see ourselves becoming that person and to visualize ourselves taking the necessary steps to get there. Too many of us live our lives with fear and allow the opinions of others to dictate our actions.

Too many of us live our lives with fear and allow the opinions of others to dictate our actions. Stay your course, be focused, and be true to the vision you have of yourself as you take action. There will always be challenges and problems to overcome, but you should never let those bumps stop you from pursuing your goals. It all

BIG FACTS ABOUT LITTLE PARTICLES A Scientific Insight from CSO Dr. Mike Buch A perfect oil to kick start your 2017, Joy™ is a luxuriously exotic blend with uplifting overtones that create magnetic energy and bring joy to the heart. When worn as cologne or perfume, Joy™ exudes an alluring and irresistible fragrance that inspires romance and togetherness. When diffused, it can be refreshing and uplifting.

How to Use For topical or aromatic use. Diffuse; use as a cologne or perfume; apply over heart; or enjoy as a body massage blended with V-6™ Enhanced Vegetable Oil Complex.

When it comes to science savvy, Dr. Mike Buch has it, with more than 25 years of experience in the health and wellness industry. In this guest article, Dr. Mike is sharing some serious facts about science—specifically nanoparticles! Nanoparticles have been used for years in electronics, optics, and

A nanometer (nm) is 1 hair is about 100,000 nm in diameter. This means that at least 10,000 nanoparticles would fit in the width of a human hair! Because of the extremely small size of nanoparticles, their properties can be very different from the properties of larger particles of the same material. This is primarily due to the fact that the percentage of surface area of a particle becomes significant relative to the overall particle size—

and surface properties tend to dominate the properties of nanoparticles. For any particles larger than 1,000 nanometers, the percentage of the surface is relatively small compared to the total volume in the bulk of the material, so surface properties are usually insignificant.

commercial coatings; but recently, they have been gaining popularity

For example, when gold is reduced to nanoparticle sizes, it appears

to be deep red or even black instead of the typical golden color. This is because gold nanoparticles absorb light differently than standard-sized gold particles. Since most reactions occur on surfaces, the large surface area to volume of nanoparticles can make them very reactive. Why does all of this matter to you? This high level of reactivity— although of interest to scientists and engineers—may make nanoparticles unpredictable in biological systems. They are not only very reactive, but

they are also so small that they can actually pass through cell membranes

on nanoparticle interactions within cells, but the fact that particles can enter the bloodstream and reach the interior of cells can be concerning. Why are we talking about this? One of the more common uses of nanoparticles in consumer products is the use of nano zinc oxide in sunscreens. Zinc oxide is a benign, unreactive, naturally occurring mineral that blocks sunlight and, therefore, acts as a sunscreen. However, several manufacturers are now using nano-sized zinc oxide particles in sunscreen smoothly and provide an enhanced skin feel; however, their small size also means that they carry all of the risks mentioned previously. As nanoparticle-based formulations continue to enter into consumer are undertaken to prove the safety of these very atypical materials. Even if a product contains a common material like zinc oxide, it is worth checking to see if that material is a nano material. If it is, I suggest you do not use it.

Young Living empowers our members with the tools to take ownership of their health and wellness. When it comes to nanoparticle-based products, we hope you’re now empowered with a better understanding from Dr. Mike Buch. Throughout the year, he’ll be sharing even more scientific insights with us, so stay tuned! PAG E 4

RAINDROP MASSAGE with Tamara Packer Young Living Singapore was very privileged to have Tamara Packer, Master Global Trainer for Young Living, to train our members on Raindrop Massage Technique on 5 January 2017. As a licensed massage therapist who specialises in essential oil application and having learnt the Raindrop Technique directly from Gary Young (the founder of the Raindrop Technique), our members had the most fruitful evening from the hands-on session with Tamara Packer. With this training, members are able to offer complimentary Raindrop Therapy to their friends and family, spreading the benefits of the massage technique and the use of essential oils in supporting overall health and spiritual wellness. Participants that evening also discovered the unique blend of ancient healing traditions, energetic medicine, intuitive wisdom, and pure essential oils used in D. Gary Young’s original Raindrop Technique.

MEMBERS ON THE MOVE J-Oil Christmas Bazaar and Workshop

Young Living Singapore 2017

3 Dec – One Drop pulled together a Christmas Bazaar with a difference. The event J.OIL (pronounced exactly like joy) offered festive shopping that delighted the oily fanatics who were looking for every present for their oiling lifestyle. At the same time, our 17 unique vendors – many of whom are independent small business entrepreneurs – brought along many other amazing offers that equally pleased the non-oiling crowd.

Join Young Living Singapore in making a difference this year!

CORPORATE PHILANTHROPY

We enjoyed 6 mini-workshops from 12pm to 6pm. Every speaker shared and weaved essential oils into a different aspect of life such as motherhood, sports performance or relaxing and practicing mindful emotional and physical releases. The event was incredibly important to us too because we have felt a calling to raise funds to help children in Syria. 100% of the entrance fees collected were donated. And for all those who paid for a ticket or simply made that donation, we are so grateful you have helped us raise SGD7213 in total. We are unspeakably overwhelmed with gratitude for all those who helped in every possible way. It was moving to watch how One Droppers came on board to be vendors, to shop, to love on us, to offer help so selflessly. To watch cross-organization-friends trust us to send their team mates over to crazy with us, to donate to the cause generously; and share a vision with us. To watch friends and family come “give face” but ended up sharing incredibly good times. To watch people love. Thank YOU. And thank you to Karen and the YLSG team in making this possible with us. Love is truly the reason for this season.

Working alongside the Movement for the Intellectually Disabled of Singapore (MINDS), Young Living Singapore is committed to touch and change the lives of intellectually disabled individuals this brand new year.

MINDS was founded in May 1962 by a group of philanthropists who saw the need to provide equal opportunities for children with intellectual disabilities to receive education and later, to be integrated as contributing and responsible citizens in Singapore. Since then, MINDS has grown to be one of the largest Voluntary Welfare Organisations in Singapore, serving some 2,400 clients from past the age of six to their ripe old age. MINDS’ services include four special schools, three employment development centres, three day training and development centres, and one multi-service residential home that caters to the educational, vocational, social and welfare needs of people with intellectual disability. MINDS is also a registered, tax deductible charity. Look out for more details on how you can be part of this effort in 2017!
