Watch for official communications from Young Living for more convention details. As we set our path for the future, I encourage you to read or re-read the book I wrote, D. Gary Young: The World Leader in Essential Oils, which is an amazing journey through the beginning of Young Living, exploring our roots with our vision for the future. If you are in Europe, this book is available in six languages: Spanish, Lithuanian, Romanian, Russian, German, and of course, English. It took me eight years to put this book together in between the demands of our very busy life. I always knew the time would come when we would long to have this information, and Gary was thrilled to see it finally in print and was happy to sign copies for so many of you. May you be blessed and protected as the new year begins. Let’s combine our energy and send a positive message to the world as we spread truth and love.

Anita Perlaza One Heart was inspired by the impact D. Gary Young strived to make in the world through the Foundation. EVERGREEN ESSENTIAL OILS: FROM OUR FARMS TO YOUR HOME Learn how we bring the cozy scent of our conifers to your home Few things are more symbolic of Christmas and the winter season—especially in colder parts of the world—than pine trees. Their evergreen nature symbolizes that life endures through the cold and darkness of winter, even transforming the long, chilly nights into something cosy, warm, and inviting. Pines and their crisp, cosy scent are only one type of a classification of trees called conifers, or trees that grow cones. At Young Living, we farm several types of conifers, each with its own individual farming, distillation, and sustainability protocols. Let’s get into the details of how we distill the essence of each of these trees into the scent of the season.
The evergreen nature of conifers symbolises that life endures through the cold and darkness of winter. Conifer types and farms Now that we know what conifers are, what types does Young Living grow? Honoring these trees’ ideal habitats, we grow black spruce at the Northern Lights Farm in British Columbia, Canada, while Idaho blue spruce, Idaho grand fir, and white fir grow at the Highland Flats Farm in Naples, Idaho, USA, and the St. Maries Farm, also in Idaho. Not only do ideal growing locations for these trees differ, but so does the source of their essential oils. Black spruce stores most of its essential oil in the limbs, stems, branches, and needles. Idaho blue spruce, Idaho grand fir, and white fir store their essential oil in the needles and branches. Harvest preparation and timing While these trees are rich in essential oils, their best oils are available for harvesting only during specific

times and under specific conditions. How do we know when those conditions are right? For black spruce, we have collected information and data for years to pinpoint the best time. Once the conditions seem right, we implement small-scale test harvests and distillations to test the quality of the essential oils being produced. When the quality meets our standards, we begin the harvest. Much of the tree harvesting process involves trimming branches and harvesting smaller trees. For Idaho blue spruce, Idaho grand fir, and white fir, farm workers selectively harvest trees or prune parts of them to manage tree health and provide a regenerative source of essential oil for future harvesting. We do smaller harvests throughout the year as this careful spacing process continues. Sustainability Conscientious, forward-thinking harvesting is only part of our sustainability efforts. At the Northern Lights Farm, we plant more than 15,000 trees each year, with a goal to reach over 30,000 in the future. We also grow additional tree species that will be

harvested in the future but for now simply help add to the biodiversity of the area.
Conscientious, forwardthinking harvesting is just part of our sustainability efforts. At the Highland Flats Farm, we use all of our plant material remaining after distillation as mulch to feed our soil and improve the health of our trees. Most other tree farms normally burn this leftover material, releasing further carbon into the air instead of using the resource productively. We also plant more than 50,000 trees a year at Highland Flats. I have always believed that getting to know Young Living was an answer to a prayer. My dad was diagnosed with Parkinsons after his retirement and for years after his diagnosis, I have put out the prayer to receive natural, non-intrusive ways to soothe and comfort him. At the onset of knowing Young Living, it did not dawn on me that this was an answered prayer. Then, I had the privilege to meet Gary Young and understood first-hand his audacious vision to put essential oils in every home. Gary was a gifted maverick called to serve the greater needs of humankind. He kept his calling sacred and hence, made it a nonnegotiable principle of the company that the products we get from nature must be unaltered by man. His vision and his commitment (now cemented in the way Young Living operates) are reasons for my passion.

One of my favourite protocols is to use Angelica Essential Oil to remove inner negativity, then use White Angelica Essential Oil to block external negativity. Then finally using White Light Essential Oil Blend to visualise light filling up all parts of my body.
The word frankincense is derived from an old French word that means “pure incense.” We source our Elemi essential oil from the Happy Pili Tree Farm in the Philippines. Locally, the pili tree is known as the “tree of hope” because it thrives in harsh typhoon conditions. In fact, farmers sometimes simulate storms by shaking the trees to improve the yield.
The best advice that I can offer someone just starting with Young Living is to Believe. Nature has a mystery we may never fully understand. Even scientists are still baffled by the discoveries and they are continuously learning about the powers of essential oils. Believing does not always need to come with a cognitive understanding, but it does change the energies of our thoughts and how the frequencies of the oils can fully work for us. I have also come to realise that “rest” has increasingly proven itself to be very important for my business. I am by nature actiondriven and tend to fill my calendar with daily activities such as meeting leaders, brand partners, working on social media, planning activities, etc. This is what we have always been taught – that we must take action to achieve a goal. However, I have also experienced that this alone can be energy depleting and creates burn-out. I am learning that when I intentionally create space to rest, I have clarity to my vision. I am much more creative and generative of ideas and solutions. I am emotionally filled to continue to give to others. This restfulness feels counter-intuitive but is proving to put me in a much more effective place in the longer run! Lastly, staying humble has helped me to build a successful business with Young Living. When I am more curious instead of assuming to be correct, I learn the most and grow the most!

WINTER HARVEST From November to January, people from all over grabbed their snow gear for the annual Winter Harvest at our Highland Flats Tree Farm in Naples, Idaho, USA. Attendees helped harvest and distill plants to produce Young Living essential oils while bonding with farm team members in the snowy, picturesque setting. UPCOMING HARVESTS We’re harvesting ylang ylang, black spruce, Idaho blue spruce, Idaho grand fir, and white fir just in time for the changing seasons.
