A Spirited Conversation
AULD LANG SYNE
POP INTO THE NEW YEAR WITH THESE BUBBLY OPTIONS BY GINO SALVATORE WITH FRANKLIN WINE & SPIRITS
What a year! We thought last year was crazy, but the recovery year was just as crazy. The recovery has been bumpy, sometimes confusing and many adjustments were made. Shortages, vaccines and continued virtual communication and work became, and still are, a reality. When I was preparing to teach our Sunday school class for the month of December. My topic is on the meaning of Christmas as seen through the story of “It’s A Wonderful Life” and George Bailey. In researching the story and the meaning of Christmas, I became interested in the last song sung in honor of George: Auld Lang Syne! We sing this song every year at midnight to close out the previous year and usher in the new one. This poem’s focus on lyrics is about remembering our friends, celebrating our friendships, and our connectedness to others. It questions whether or not we should remember those from the past, the good times we had and what our friends mean. It is a time of celebration and yes, we remember those who have been part of our lives. This song just brings to mind celebrating. We toast the past and look forward to the new year. So what better way to welcome in the new year than with some champagne or a bubbly drink? I have provided some options for you to have as you sing this song and celebrate. To all of you, Happy New Year, and may 2022 keep you safe, prosper and continue to celebrate what we have, not what we don’t! Happy New Year from your neighborhood wine store-Franklin Wine and Spirits.
