Editor's Note

ecently having attended an exhibition in Mumbai I came across a very interesting product called Health on Demand (H.O.D). The comfortable looking armchair was beckoning to me after walking around all day in the exhibition and thought it would give me a few minutes of much needed respite. So when they offered a demo I lapped up the chance immediately. Once I sat down it felt like being in a coccoon, and in no time their trained pilot created my entire health profile and ran various tests which made me really think about how they have managed to make healthcare so easy and accessible. This can potentially revolutionise our outlook on the future of accessible healthcare. Talking to the founders and looking around at all the new inventions I was inspired by sheer magnificence of what our younger generation envisages our future to be like. This further got me wondering about the jobs that may become a reality in the future. This April, we decided to explore this question further with our cover story, Jobs of the Future. We showcase six up and coming opportunities for career options like virtual teachers, social media lawyers, genetic counselors, product designers and robotic and gaming engineers, that have never been around before. Talking about changing times and going futuristic there are some things from the past that are always here to stay. Whether you believe in it ot not, the aspect of spirituality cannot be denied. I personally never believed in these things much but some recent chains of events have made me rethink my position. There must be a lot of truth in some of them as so many coincidences are hard to prove otherwise. We take you away from the practical realities of the future and absorb you in the art of the Inner Eye with our Entertainment Feature called The Science of Supernatural, and hope you have an interesting time exploring them on your own.

RHODES SCHOLARSHIP

 The Rhodes Scholarship, named after Cecil John Rhodes, is an international postgraduate award for selected foreign students to study at the University of Oxford. It describes itself as "perhaps the most prestigious scholarship" in the world.  Rhodes Scholars may study any full-time postgraduate course offered by the university, whether a taught master's programme, a research degree, or a second undergraduate degree (senior status). The World Record for the Largest Human Formation of a Currency Symbol was broken by the revellers. Later in the night, Meta-Stasis, an Extreme Technical Metal band from the UK, warmed up the stage for the arrival of Korpiklaani.

Venue: Mithibai College, Mumbai Dates: 25th January 2016 About: Organized by the BFM (Bachelor in Financial Markets) students, the fest began with the inauguration ceremony by the honourable principal and vice principal. The event proceeded with three eminent speakers from the finance industry. Mr. Deepak Chande – CFO , CCIL; Mr. Ajay Narayan and Vice President at Franklin Templeton graced the audience with their experiences. The event, just in its inception year, bought 28 colleges from across Mumbai. The financial events followed the seminar. FATE IT OUT, a virtual trading market for commodities was unique and successful by itself. CODE BREAKER was a fun filled event wherein participants had to use financial knowledge in day to day games. The last was BRAINSTORMER, where one had to analyse, question and get innovative solutions.

Learning Special Education

Teaching in itself is a very popular career choice, but teaching students with special needs is exactly the opposite. Madhura Sansare delves into the world of special education and tells you what learning B.Ed in Special Education is all about What is special education? They say every student needs to be taught differently, as they all learn by different methods. But children with special needs need more than just a unique way to education. They need a more specialised method. Special Education is the branch of education which uses special instructional methodology (Remedial Instruction), instructional materials, learning-teaching aids and equipment to meet educational needs of children with specific learning disabilities. Remedial instruction or Remediation aims at improving a skill or ability in a student. The techniques used for this include providing the student with more practice or more explanation than usual, repetitions of information and instructions, and all in all, providing them with more time to work on the skill. Remediations methods vary from student to student. For example, a student having difficulty in reading can be provided with remediation by one-on-one reading sessions, phonic instructions and by practicing reading aloud. Qualification All you need to join a course on Special Education is a Bachelors degree and an interest in teaching. Institutes all over the world offer Bachelors and Masters Programs

in Special Education. Many organisations also go further to offer short term courses in the subject, which last from anywhere between 2 weeks to a month. But if youâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;re serious about pursuing Special Education as a full time career, we would suggest you only join courses of at least 1 year duration. When does a child need special education? Special education teachers work primarily with students with three major segments of disabilities, namely Learning Disability (LD), Mental Retardation (MR) or Intellectual Disability (ID) and Visual Impairment (VI).The teachers dealing with students with mental retardation or autism tend to teach them life skills and basic literacy. The teachers dealing with Visual Impairment or any other physical disabilities primarily teach the students to overcome their diabilities and lead normal lives. And the teachers dealing with students with Learning Disability use general education curriculum and modify it to meet the studentsâ&#x20AC;&#x2122; individual needs. Special education teachers mostly tend to work with students at the elementary, middle and secondary schooling levels, but some teachers do work with pre-schoolers as well. They also provide specified programs for specific learning disabilities, as well as speech or language

impairments, mental retardation, emotional disturbance, multiple disabilities, hearing impairments, visual impairments, autism, combined deafness and blindness, traumatic brain injury, and other health impairments. Students are classified under one of the categories, and special education teachers are prepared to work with specific groups. It is highly important to identify which group the student can be categorised under, as this helps in tailoring the education according to the students needs. Early intervention is essential in educating children with disabilities. How do they work? Special education teachers use various techniques to promote learning. Depending on the disability, teaching methods can include individualized instruction, problemsolving assignments, and small group work. When students need special accommodations in order to take a test, special education teachers see that appropriate ones are provided, such as having the questions read orally or lengthening the time allowed to take the test. Special education teachers help to develop an Individualized Education Program (IEP) for each special education student. The IEP sets personalized goals for each student and is tailored to the student's individual needs and ability. Teachers work closely with parents to inform them of their child's progress and suggest techniques to promote learning at home. They are involved in the students' behavioral, social, and academic development, helping the students develop emotionally, feel comfortable in social situations, and be aware of socially acceptable behavior. Special education teachers communicate and work together with parents, social workers, school psychologists, speech therapists, occupational and physical therapists, school administrators, and other teachers. Special Education can be provided to the child as: a one to one setting outside or within his/her formal educational environment. ď Ž a Pull-out service where special remedial, therapeutic, or enrichment services can be provided to students outside the regular classroom which is referred to as Pull-out services. ď Ž An Inclusive Model of education would imply educational provision for individuals with special needs within the educational system where these children study side by side with their mainstream peers, so as to enable them to develop to their full potential. Inclusion is an educational philosophy aimed at "normalizing" special services for which students qualify. Inclusion involves an attempt to provide more of these special services by providing additional aids and support inside the regular classroom, rather than by pulling students out for isolated instruction. Inclusion involves the extension of general education curriculum and goals to students receiving special services. It involves shared responsibility, problem solving, and mutual support among all the staff members who provide services to students. One aim of inclusion is to reduce the removal of students from the regular classroom when the same intent of service can be provided within the regular classroom. The different areas looked into for a child with specific

learning needs maybeAdaptation: A change in what students do or a reshaping of the materials students use. Adaptations are essentially the same as modifications, but can specifically refer to the materials and equipment student's use to aid in learning. Enlarging the print on a worksheet and audio taping a textbook are examples of adaptations. Cognitive learning: The area of learning based on knowledge and reasoning; also called academic learning. Compensation or compensatory instruction: Instruction aimed at tackling a problem or an area of difficulty. Techniques for compensatory instruction include the use of alternative instruction, alternative techniques, and adaptive equipment. Co-teaching: An instructional arrangement in which there is more than one adult in a classroom, instructional and classroom responsibilities are defined and assigned, and some type of co-planning is involved. Individualized education program/plan (IEP): A written plan of educational goals and objectives for a student. This plan is reviewed and rewritten each year. Modification: Reducing the number of questions students must answer at the end of a textbook chapter, allowing a student to answer aloud instead of writing an answer, and allowing the student to do an activity that is different from what the other students are doing are all examples of modifications. Where do they work? Special Educators are not just restricted to schools and colleges, as one may expect. There are various facilities that need people with their specified skill set, like: Special schools: Commonly, you will find special educators working at special schools, assisting students with special needs in honing their academic skills. Rehabilitation centre: A large number of public and private rehabilitation centres that require special educators Private support: Just like any other career, special educators also get to choose between working in public sector and private sector. Especially in India, it is very common to find special educators working independently. Dr. Preeti Verma, Head of the Department of Special Education at SNDT Women’s University tells us what is it like heading the most-sought after course in Special Education Very few Indian colleges offer a B.Ed in Special Education in Mumbai. According to you, what is the reason behind the same? It depends on the ideology of the management. Running a Regular B.Ed is far more profitable than B.Ed in Special Education. The intake in regular B.Ed is above hundred as opposed to 30 in Special Education. Also, Regular B.Ed is more in demand because of more number of mainstream schools. What are the career options available to a student after pursuing this degree? Students pursuing this career become special educators in special and inclusive schools following state, national and international curriculum. They can work as Practitioners, Teacher educators and Managers. They can work as researchers in the field of Special Education. They may work as Consultants and coordinators in the area of inclusive education services; may even get involved in policy making. Can you tell us a little more about your curriculum? There is a paradigm shift in higher education. The curriculum is designed to empower special educators to teach students with disabilities in inclusive and special school settings. It gives thorough knowledge in specific disability areas, as well as cross disability areas (other disability areas). It also trains in different pedagogies of teaching. The emphasis is on developing skills and knowledge and understanding how curriculum can be transacted across disabilities You tend to have a lot of in-house internships at various schools across the city for your students. What are some of the challenges that you face due to these internships? There aren't any challenges. Sometimes the organisations where the students intern do not understand the objective of the placement, hence expectations differ. What advice would you give a student who is planning to pursue a career in special education? If you have compassion, feel passionate about learning and think you can make a difference in a child’s life; this is the course to undertake. 18 YOUTHINCMAG.COM APRIL 2016

Dr. Jayanti Pujari, Director, Amity Institute of Rehabilitation Sciences, Amity University Uttar Pradesh talks to us about what it takes to become a Special Education Teacher Dealing with children with special needs is not as easy job. What according to you are certain characteristics that a student must have in order to be successful in this field? Special education teachers work with children with a wide range of disabilities. Whether dealing with minor learning disabilities or students who have severe physical and cognitive disorders, a special education teacher must have the skill and knowledge to know how to best work with the child. All children need love, encouragement, and support, and for children with needs, such positive reinforcement can help ensure that they emerge with a strong sense of self-worth, confidence, and the determination to keep going even when things are tough. The characteristic feature of a special educator is that they shall be accepting of all students, no matter the disability or special need. This includes teaching all students with dignity and respect. You must remember that even students who cannot speak or who function at low levels have feelings and can often pick up on negativity or when someone is feeling uncomfortable. Every child in your classroom must feel valuable. Working with children with special needs requires enormous amounts of patience and persistence. What advice would you give a student who is planning to pursue a career in special education? In context of Amity Institute of Rehabilitation Science, the students are exposed to well-equipped laboratories, which help them to gain expertise in handling various tools. Kuhoo Jugran Amity Institute of Rehabilitation Sciences M.Ed Special Education (Mental Retardation) What are the major challenges that you have faced in your studies till date? I have had opportunity to go to other schools and observe things I have learnt in theory class due to this course. When I was doing my IEP practice in a renowned special school, I was trying to work and assess a child with mental retardation who did not want to interact with me. I reported the same to my faculty. They urged me to keep trying for 3 days continuously to gain rapport. One the 4th day I vehemently requested my faculty to get a change in the assigned child and swap it with one of my colleagues. To my surprise the next day the child came to me and asked me why I didn’t come to him and that he was waiting for me. I was overwhelmed knowing that I mattered to him. And I took it as a lesson that even when you feel that the child isn’t responding to you and you tend to disheartened, you have to try over and over and over again because somewhere inside the child is learning very important things about life.

If you could give any advice to your fellow peers who are also considering an education in special education, what would it be? I used to teach Music for two years. I had an autistic child who used to come to me to learn music. Over time, as I got to know him and got to know more about his disability, it made me feel like this is really something tha I want to pursue and learn more about. My advice would be that you have to learn to love your students and understand them so completely that you can tailor your teaching to them. If somebody wants to get into the field of special education, I’d say great; it’s a brilliant field, it’s really rewarding and you just get so much joy out of doing what you’re doing, but all of it is only if you love your students. You need to have patience, you need to have that love, because love is really very important and then you just have to work towards it. It’s just like how a mother would work towards anything for her child; you basically do the same thing for your students.

What compelled you to pursue a career in special education? After completing my B.Com degree, I took a break of 1 year, trying to figure out what I wanted to do next. I joined an organisation known as Rotaract, started conducting quilling workshops in Goa, and also became a faculty in an annual workshop for school children known as Live Life. Having all these interactions and encounters with the kids big and small, I thought of going into the teaching field. I joined Euro Kids, an international preprimary school, worked there as an administrator. I had student in that school who had autism. His parents were suppose to take him to U.K, which was something I couldn’t digest. It hurt me to know that inspite of having special educators in the country, the parents felt a need for this child to be taken to U.K. When I read about autism, I came to know about the field of special education. That’s when I decided to go ahead and pursue the field of teaching and do my B.Ed in special education.

What are the major challenges that you would say that you have faced in you academic career till now? For me, the most challenging aspect of this course is the practicals. At the same time, I think that is exactly where you feel like you’re learning something as well. Practicals are where we go and give lessons to students at different schools. For example, when we are scheduled to give lessons to kids at a school in a certain week, we’re also given a particular set of lessons to give, like 10 lessons of different topics. We’re given the child that we are supposed to teach, sometimes it’s a group lesson; sometimes it’s an individual lesson. And then you go teach the child keeping in mind the child’s disability and you tailor your lesson accordingly. So that is our practicals at least for our current semester. Usually, every B.Ed insitution has a lot of tie-ups or they know people who will support them to send student trainees to institutions to get a first-hand experience. We will also have an inhouse internship in Sem 4.

Shopaholic Syndrome Heer Kothari explores the nuances of a shopaholic and how one can cure themselves of such a psychological disorder

n life everyone finds themselves in a certain phase where we seem stuck on the second gear. Nothing inches forward, and the wait to progress is endless. During such times we hook ourselves to ‘hobbies’, or anything that can elevate the spirit. So what is the immediate indulgent that crosses ones mind at such times? Has shopping just occurred to you? Well honestly, shopping does occur to me in my down times! CRUX OF ADDICTION ‘Retail therapy’, as it is colloquially termed, serves as a satiating experience to most during ones down time. It is believed that the activity of shopping releases ‘happy hormones’ such as endorphins and dopamine. The release of these hormones kicks an individual giving them the happy high, but the effects of this release is short-lived. However what an individual gets actually hooked to is the effect, which leaves a lasting imprint on ones mind. This in turn urges one to go back for some more needless purchases, making one a shopaholic. One may not have an iota of how they have been inflicted by the deadly disease of being a Shopaholic. The process is as slow as consuming slow poison. There is no stringent definition of a shopaholic, but it can loosely be defined as ‘A person, who when emotionally overwhelmed, purchases unnecessarily, and may not have the finances to cope with the debt later. Being a shopaholic may hamper relationships, and could drain you emotionally, rather than physically. ’ Initially it was believed that only women suffer from the compulsive buying disorder, but that indeed is a myth. The disorder is blind to age, income group, race, and most importantly, gender. In fact men too pander about in this indulgent addiction. THE SYMPTOMS Rebecca Bloomwood faces the exacting predicament in the flick ‘Confessions of a Shopaholic.’ In the film, Rebecca, has a fetish for branded clothes, shoes, and all the other pretty things a mall has to offer!  Rebecca Bloomwood’s credit cards are full to the brim and we see that she has hidden her credit cards in order to keep from spending.  When she is emotionally overwhelmed she finds all her cards and shops to her satisfaction till she drops.  She incessantly lies to her best friend and her coworkers about her spending habit.  But to make the plot even more juicer and matters worse for the protagonist, she loses her job, has to keep with the mounting credit card bills and at the same time there is romance brewing on the horizon. (A leak of this weakness would keep the handsome man away from the protagonist), small lies leads to even more lies. CATEGORIES OF SHOPPERS  There are the Collectors. The collectors will go hunting to any extent to complete a certain collection. It could be a part of the collection. Sometimes this also means collecting one product in numerous colours. For a collector it is imperative to stock on every colour even if they don’t like it.  If you are smitten by the addiction to bargain then

of course you are the bargain seeker. This would mean buying something unnecessarily because you have managed to bargain to your satisfaction.  Every perfectionist isn’t a Virgo, but sometimes they are Trophy shopaholics, who keep shopping till they find just the right thing to stock on.  If you are caught in the vicious cycle of buying and returning the purchase then you are the bulimic shopaholic.  If it becomes even more than necessary to indulge in some retail therapy when you are sad or depressed, that makes one a compulsive shopaholic. THE CURE There is no drastic cure for a shopaholic. Shopaholics are encouraged to talk to like-minded people and resist the urge of shopping. This can prove to become very compelling at times. This is because if you keep holding on against your wishes you may dirty what you have taken so long to clean up. As far as medication is concerned, there is no medication to cure a shopaholic, but one must understand that a person becomes a shopaholic out of extreme depression or however doctors do prescribe relaxants and anti-depressants (simply because chronic shopaholics generally shop when they are depressed). However one should only consume the same after the doctor has clinically prescribed the tablets. Yet another medical alternative involves the consumption of pills that are generally prescribed to an Alzheimer’s patient. This indeed can become very risky, as this is done, when psychologically the patient has hit a fearful pitch. Yet another cure for this disease is by rendering undying love and care to the patient suffering from Compulsive shopping disorder (CSD). If family members of the patient lend a patient ear to understand the problem of their loved ones, it simply solves the bedrock of a problem. Also as kith and kin one must encourage their member to work hard and earn in order to pay off the debt. Using this method, the patient will understand that money that was so easily blown away was achieved with a dint of hard work. But care must be taken that one doesn’t give up on the patient easily. THE SIDE EFFECTS Taking the medication is not always advisable, unless the depression is severe. Also taking medication has some extreme side effects like bursting into unwanted cold sweats, insomnia, nausea, feeing anxiety, unwanted headaches, and last but not the least fatigue. As I key off I would only like to state that it is essential to not only care about your physical health but also care about your mental health. One must change the way they perceive life in order to live a quality life. Solving puzzles and crosswords are good exercises for an individual’s mental health. It doesn’t only help an individual snap out of their routine problems but it also helps them think of their own problem more analytically and solve the same with ease. One must also note that a person suffering from the consumer buying disorder may not necessarily be doing any physical damage, but the emotional damage is colossal and hard to overcome too. yi 2016 APRIL YOUTHINCMAG.COM 21

tudent exchange programs are a very interesting concept. Ordinarily, a student’s education is restricted to his geographical location and the education system in it. But student exchange programs give you a taste of something entirely different than what you are used to. They take you out of your comfort zone, and challenge while also exposing you to an entirely different situation, a different culture, and a different education system. They give you a chance to explore yourself in a way that your own educational system could not provide. But what exactly is a student exchange program? A student exchange program is a program in which students from a secondary school or university study abroad at one of their institution's partner institutions. This may involve international travel, but it is not necessary. Students can choose to study in their own country, just in a different state. Educational institutions and governments across the globe promote student

22 YOUTHINCMAG.COM APRIL 2016

exchange programs. This is so because these foreign exchange programs are created to provide practical training and employment and the sharing of history, culture, and traditions of the participants' home country. Now you have to keep in mind that the term ‘exchange’ is used loosely here. If you want to study abroad for a short while, it does not mean you need to find a counterpart who will exchange places with you. Exchange purely means that a partner institution has accepted a student, but does not necessarily mean that the students have to find a counterpart from the other institution with whom to exchange. Exchange students live with a host family or in a designated place such as a hostel, an apartment, or a student lodging. Costs for the program vary by the country and institution. Participants fund their participation via scholarships, loans, or self-funding. Types of exchange programs: 1. Short-term exchange: A short-term exchange program is also known as summer/intensive or cultural exchange program. These focus on homestays, language skills, community service, or cultural activities. High school and university students can apply for the programs through various government or non-governmental organizations that organize the programs. A short-term exchange lasts from one week to three months and doesn’t require the student to study in any particular school or institution. The students are exposed to an intensive program that increases their understanding of other cultures, communities, and languages.

2. Long-term exchange: A long-term exchange is one that lasts six to ten months or up to one full year. Participants attend high school in their host countries, through a student visa. Students are expected to integrate themselves into the host family, immersing themselves in the local community and surroundings. Upon their return to their home country they are expected to incorporate this knowledge into their daily lives, as well as give a presentation on their experience to their sponsors. Many exchange programs expect students to be able converse in the language of the host country, at least on a basic level.

3. Internship exchange: Another option that students who want to go for an exchange program have is to go for an internship exchange. Though this type of an exchange program doesn’t benefit a student from an educational perspective, it is extremely beneficial to the student’s personal growth and his CV. An abroad internship shines on a fresher's CV, as it shows a versatility to working in different environments. AIESEC India is known for its wide range of destinations and internships provisions, and is one of the best ways for a student in India to pursue an exchange program of this sort. yi

Could you tell us a little more about your student exchange internship? How was your experience in India? Actually my experience is still in progress; I have been in Mumbai since June 2015, working for an events management agency as a business development and customer servicing executive. It offers a lot of learnings and I’m taking this opportunity the best way I can. India itself is for me a source of colorful energy and crazy diversity, I have been lucky to travel a bit and discover more dimensions to the country. What were some of the major challenges you faced while working in the country? At the beginning everything was a challenge! Compared to Europe, India is to my mind still not that focused on embracing diversity coming from the outside of the country. My perspective on its reason is that, it may be due to the size of population. The dominant attitude is competitive, not collaborative. It takes a lot to transform the long term patterns with the common consciousness and understanding. What advice would you like to give to somebody who is planning on an overseas internship via AIESEC? By my experience so far, the key to living a developing experience of an internship in such an environment is, so called, growth mindset. Living and working in a country which is so extremely different from Polish reality can be a source of myriad misunderstandings and confusions; either to be perceived as problems or challenges to overcome with personalized learning. I’d advise anyone who is planning on jumping into an internship abroad to keep practicing your growth thinking to make the most of the adventure of your lifetime.

Could you tell us a little more about your student exchange internship? Where did you go and how was your experience? I have always wanted to visit Egypt (Cairo) since I was a kid. And I got the right opportunity at the right time. Hearing about a crazy opportunity like this, I couldn’t wait to experience it. I knew it was sudden and it sounded crazy to leave everything and vanish from all the studying but trust me, I did not regret it one bit. Having never been overseas, I went to a completely strange land, met new faces, saw a new language and a different culture and once I was back, that strange land turned into my second home and the new faces became family. After I was back from my exchange I was the same person with a completely different perspective on life. I was back to the same routine with tons of new friends from all around the globe and memories to cherish forever. What were some of the major challenges you faced while working abroad? The language was a bit of a problem. Our internship was based on photography and graphic designing so we had to travel all around Egypt. The truth being that 85% of the locals only speak Arabic it was a bit difficult to communicate. But we had our fellow AIESECers who taught us basic Arabic and we were good to go. What advice would you like to give to somebody who is planning on pursuing an internship abroad via AISEC? Go for it. Don’t even think twice. An experience like this should not be missed. You will learn, explore and discover in just a span of 2 months. You will come back a responsible person. There are 126 countries. To Mount Everest Jaahnavi Sriperambuduru was only 13 years old when she climbed her first snow-clad mountain. This April, at the age of 15, Jaahnavi will be attempting to climb Mt. Everest. Madhura Sansare talks to this young prodigy about her inspirations, and her future aspirations What would you say inspired you to get into mountaineering? My father introduced me to mountaineering when I was just 10 months old and that went on till 3 years. When I understood that I like it, I just started following him. I was 8 years when I really understood the challenge and started accompanying my father to different Treks with lots of enthusiasm. The two most inspiring things in my mountaineering career are the Nature and my Father who instills energy and determination in me always. Can you please tell us about your first mission of Mission7Summit? My first mission of Mission 7 Summit was Mt. Kilimanjaro, the highest peak of Africa. I was well trained and prepared for it, but when I went, I found more than what I read, and it was really mind blowing with beautiful sceneries and terrains. I have experienced 4 terrains in one single mountain, which is generally a rare incidence in such peaks as Mt. Kilimanjaro is the Single standing mountain in the world. The first terrain was Rain Forest, which was covered with mist throughout and wet always, then the second terrain I have crossed was Alpine Moran, totally rocks, then the Desert and last one which is one of my most favorite scenes is the Artic zone, the place where I was standing on the Top was just 4 KMs from the Equator and I could also witness from one standing place the effects of Day and Night. Out of all the climbs you have undertaken till date, which would you say was the toughest one and why? There is no climb that can be considered tough or easy, as every peak has its own characteristics and climatic condition. So every peak we climb has its uniqueness

and has its own risk factors. So we get trained as per the peaks that we are going to climb and prepare ourselves. How do you prepare yourself before a mission? As mentioned before every peak is unique, so we have to prepare accordingly. What are some of the challenges you face while mountaineering? There are different kinds of peaks like Trekking peaks, Semi Technical peak & Technical peaks. So we prepare accordingly. We start well in advance working on our diet control, our fitness levels and mostly our mind state. We do more of Meditation and Pranayama. For my Mt. Everest expedition, Pranayama is very much useful, as we have to survive with less oxygen over the Death Zone. Which peak do you next look forward to conquer? My next Phase – IV peak is Mt. Everest of #Mission7Summit in April 2016, but still looking forward for support as the budget is very high as we will be climbing it in a lengthy 62 days period. What are the health problems that a mountaineer can suffer during a mission? The first and foremost problem in

mountains anyone can get is AMS (Altitude Mountain Sickness) if you are not well acclimatized. The others are High Altitude Pulmonary Edema and High Altitude Cerebral Edema. You are planning to climb Mt. Everest in April, which is 8848 meters. What is your game plan? As I have decided to climb Mt. Everest so soon, I have taken an opportunity to train and guide a 10-year-old girl and her mother to Everest Base Camp. I had a unique experience of guiding someone who is younger to me and someone who is older to me at a time. This diversity has given me lots of exposure to People Management and I have learnt many things. Though I have ventured to do this to get my body acclimatized with the weather conditions of Mt Everest, I had more added experiences that made me strong both physically and mentally. I am just home and now concentrating more on mental stability and getting trained on breath control and physical fitness. How do you manage your studies and mountaineering together? As I am into IGSC curriculum, I don’t miss out any classes as its available online and as and when my adventure schedule is planned, I inform my school who takes care

of my classes and examinations. Mostly when it’s not very urgent, I travel by train in India so that I get some time to study during my journey and complete my task. I have special permission from my school to attend little late 3 days a week, as I travel nearly 100 kms for my fitness practice to a National Coach Mr. Nagapuri Ramesh. My day starts at 5 A.M and I go for practice to the stadium, which is nearly 50 kms away from my home, and return home by 10 AM and then hurry to my school. I return from school at around 4 P.M and take some rest and do have my special diet and then go for practice till 7 P.M. From 7.30 PM to 9.00 PM is my study time and I go to bed around 9.30 P.M. What else do you do apart from mountaineering? Apart from the Mountaineering, I am a Classical Bharatanatyam Dancer. I give special performances for the cause. Twice in a week, I go to Professional Drawing and Painting Classes along with my mother and brother. Whenever my academics permit, during weekends I travel to various communities in rural areas for Motivational Talks and participate in the Workshops for Adolescents Girls to instill confidence in them by giving my success stories with the support of an NGO Swashakthi SMART that work for Adolescent Girl and Women Empowerment. I am the proud Brand Ambassador of Swashakthi SMART in showcasing Confidence and Instilling Courage in Young Girls. What advice would you give to one of your peers who want to take up mountaineering? I would like to advise all my peers immaterial of whether they take up mountaineering or not, to be brave and focused. I believe in hard work and sincerity. ttractive salaries, increased status, and that corner office. Who wants it? Everybody. The real question here seems to be what people are willing to do to achieve it. The career dynamics has changed dramatically; long gone are the days when you work for your employer for 30 years, grab your pension, and ride off quietly into the sunset. Now, it’s not uncommon to see people work for 4 different employers in a span of 30 months.The overarching question seems to be: are jumping jobs the key to your advancement or the trap of unemployment? Nothing can super cede the age-old practice of pros and cons; let’s take out those legal pads and break it down.

PROS

Movement leads to stability Ironically, jumping jobs and getting a little taste of everything shows you which table you would like to sit at for the next 30 years. While career counselors and your parents might give you some helpful advice, there is nothing to match real life experience. The importance of finding your true place cannot be over exaggerated- if it takes you a couple of shifts to find your solid ground; it’s definitely worth it. More often than not, you will find you’re ability to succeed is tripled in an environment that genuinely extracts the best from you. You might find yourself moving up in a matter of months, something you wouldn’t have managed even in a matter of years, at your previous job. However, you must not play hopscotch and get carried away in the process. Contacts get you ahead in life, not your resume Jumping jobs provides you with a wide array of colleagues to build connections with. Ultimately, your degrees mean nothing if the people in the real world cannot vouch for them. Switching jobs helps you build your communication skills and gives you access to multiple managers- it can never hurt to have such people in your phone book. A good network of corporates has value that cannot be measured in monetary terms. Additional feathers in your cap Acquiring skills from different environments adds to your value. Every job will have something different to offer and picking up some useful pieces from your different jobs might make you a perfect jigsaw put together. If this is your goal, it is important to work in different sectors of companies until you finally think your basket is as vibrant and full as you would like it to be. The idea is to have a wide range of expertise that companies are sure to recognize. Your first concern is yourself Loyalty is no longer about putting your time or paying your dues, it’s about providing measurable value and being rewarded for it. If you sincerely feel that your current job is acting as an anchor pulling you down, then cut it off with no regrets, because your primary objective should always be to do what is most beneficial for you. If it’s more than just a higher salary, for example a more conducive work environment or an opportunity to play in the big leagues, then your switch is completely justified. Sometimes, there is an outflow of employees

just before a company is about to crash; quitting in such cases doesn’t make you disloyal, it just makes you smart. However, going with the flow may leave you at the beach with no one to play with except for yourself and that is why, we have a list of cons.

A rolling stone gathers no moss This adage has encapsulated the wisdom that has been passed down through generations. In a constant effort to reach for more, many people cease to understand what they have in their hands, at this very moment. Employees must completely absorb what they can; only once every bit of knowledge permeates your mind, can you make the decision to switch. In simpler words, one must make the best out of everything- learn every skill there is to learn in your current job, and learning requires some time commitment. A butterfly takes time to emerge To make a mark anywhere, you have to prove you have what it takes. Opportunities won’t come knocking on your door, if your door keeps changing. Only after slogging for a few months, establishing yourself in your environment, and earning the respect you wish to command, will your employer give you a chance to do something big. You have to earn the limelight by displaying commitment and perseverance, which is not very likely to happen if you keep hopping jobs. Reminder: promotions exist in your present company as well Before jumping on the bandwagon to the next job with the better position, consider the alternatives in your current setup. Is it just a month more of hard work here? Paving your way forward in the same company has more perks than you realize. Additionally, a factor we most often turn a blind eye towards is friendship. No, not contact building, but friendship. Numerous studies suggest a positive correlation between productivity at the workplace and mental happiness in the terms of a conducive environment and occasional warm smiles. Resume is more than just degrees Change jobs too often and you might just end up without one. Once your recruiters catch a whiff of your patterns, for them, it acts as a warning signal of sunk costs. Companies spend money and resources to train their new employees, so naturally they wouldn’t want to train someone who is likely to run away just when he/she is ripe for their work. If you’ve looked at the pros and cons and still find yourself in a bit of a pickle, here are two most enchanting words: opportunity cost. Whatever your decision is, consider the benefits of the alternative decision and decide whether one is better than the other. Look at a decision in terms of what you are sacrificing to head a certain way and decide if you feel it’s worth it. Everything will boil down to your personal satisfaction with your choices because everyone’s modus operandi varies and consequently their perspective. he future has always been a very obscure concept, but a fascinating one nonetheless. We can make predictions, review history to get an idea of what might happen, or base the entire science on the stars; but nobody can ever guarantee that their predictions will become reality over time. The business of predicting the future has been a part of our race since the times of yore. Why, even in the 1500s, the reputed seer, Nostradamus took it upon himself to write down the prophecies of the future of the world, and guess what, that book has rarely been out of print since his death. What with the wide array of astrologists, tarot card readers, palm readers and more all delving into the world of the crystal globes and coming up with interpretations for what they presume to be the truth of the future, it comes as no wonder that the future is our race’s pet project. Even as we step out of the realm of the unknown, we are bombarded by interpretations of the future, just here, they’re more universal than personal. You only have to look at our sci-fi books and movies to know what we’re talking about. Be it the elusive I, Robot, which showcased the entire human race being taken over by the city’s central artificial intelligence computer or Disney’s Wall-E, which portrayed a futuristic human society which relied on automated systems for their ever need; it is very clear that we expect the future to be vastly different from the world we know today. While I Robot showed robots in every household and driverless cars, Wall-E presumed that we would have to

abandon Earth as a large dumping ground due to decades of mass consumerism and live on a large spaceship, which also showed human society being enslaved by automated systems to be the point where walking wasn’t necessary anymore. Now the future may be glorious, or it may be bleak, but if you ask us, the process of reaching that future is more fascinating than the future itself. All we’ve imagined about our future is all based only on the results; the process has never been fantasised. What we tend to forget is that with the changing world, one of the biggest changes that we will face are in the job sector. Because as the world changes, so will its demands. And to supply to those demands, jobs will change. So you see, when we look at the future, and all that it encompasses, one of the most important things to consider are the jobs that will be created in order to generate the future. One of the most thriving careers as of today, gaming engineering or gaming programming is sure to pick up vastly in the future

gaming engineer is a software engineer, programmer, or computer scientist who primarily develops codebases for video games or related software, such as game development tools. Many specialised disciplines fall under the umbrella term of gaming engineer, but a gaming engineer should not be confused with a game designer, who works on the design of the game. Gaming engineers work with teams of programmers, illustrators and testers to design, develop and create new video games. They can be involved in all the phases of game development, right from formulating the initial concept to testing the product before release.

HOW DID IT ALL START? Video games came up around the early 1970s to the mid-1980s, which can be considered as the initial days of video games. In those days, a gaming engineer also took on the job of game design and artist. The reason for this was generally because of the limited abilities of the early computers, which made is unnecessary to have specialised personnel for each function. The game

concepts back then were also light, and games were meant to be played for only a few minutes at a time. More importantly, even the art content and gameplay variations were also constrained by the limited power of computers. As specialised arcade hardware and home systems became more powerful, deeper storylines and features like high-resolution and full colour graphics could be integrated into the game. Other features like advanced artificial intelligence and digital sounds had also just become reality and could be incorporated into games. Nowadays, programmer art has come to be a derogatory term which implies the kind of bright colours and blocky design that were typical of early video games. The desire for adding more depth and assets to games necessitated a division of labour. Initially, art production was relegated to full-time artists. Next game programming became a separate discipline from game design. Despite this division, however, most game developers (artists, engineers and even producers) have some say in the final design of contemporary games.

A career in product design provides you with an opportunity to make a real difference. The process of cultivating a design, from the early concept stages to a commercially feasible solution appropriate for mass production, and being part of the entire creation process, from concept to final tests can also give product designers a large amount of job satisfaction.

A product designer will normally work as part of a team, often encompassing of junior and senior designers. These gentlemen all report to a design manager or creative lead. Most product designers rise up through these ranks of mounting accountability, as they demonstrate themselves as not only capable designers and innovative thinkers, but also good team players and communicators. Commercial product design can fall into two major categories: n In-house companies, where all design is lead and managed by a marketing department within that company n Consultancy-based design, where design is lead by external clients’ needs. Despite these differences, all projects undertaken come from the common ‘design brief’, which is directed by market research into the product field. Throughout the project, regular meetings will be planned and presentations will be made to guarantee the project is advancing in the right direction. Sometimes these meetings can mean fundamental shifts in the design are required, and a product designer's skill lies in their ability to weigh these comments and use them back into their designs. A designer may use many different tools to realise their design effectively, varying from advanced computer modelling to more traditional workshop techniques. For example, a design can start from a pencil sketch, then be developed using foam models that lead to a working rig before a computer is even used. In parallel to this, the team dynamic provides several opportunities to exchange and brainstorm ideas, and final designs will often be moulded and driven by a compilation of the team's contributions. Time management and planning is another crucial feature to a product designer’s role. A product’s market launch time will dictate this, and it is up to the designer to arrange their project time to guarantee important targets are met. This can vary from internal management of tasks, to coordinating with external suppliers and manufacturers.

ot only is robotic engineering an exciting and challenging field of study, it also has enormous practical benefits for humanity. However, for some reason most people tend to associate these perceived benefits with a distant future. But it doesn’t make sense to do so, as robotics is already very integrated in our current day to day lives. If you’ve seen Disney’s Wall-E, you must remember the revolutionary driverless cars that have been showcased in the movie. Even Will Smith’s I Robot showed cars which could be operated by robots, giving the drivers time to catch up with other tasks while travelling. As these movies are futuristically based, it’s easy to presume driverless cars are a thing of the future. But that’s not true. Google already has a fleet of driverless cars roaming the globe taking satellite images. Drones are also expected to be used in a delivery capacity in the near future. This is also expected to only grow over time, as with the recent technological advancements, it has become increasingly clearer that robotics are here to be inducted into our lives far more than they currently are.

WHAT IS THE FUTURE OF ROBOTIC ENGINEERING? Robotics has already been integrated into our working lives, but we expect some far more dramatic changes to happen as their engagement with us changes. Today, robots don’t resemble the ones we tend to see in our futuristic sci-fi movies one bit, but this is likely to change. The current machine-like robots that are designed only to perform specific tasks like a robotic arm on a conveyor belt are not the final form of robots. As robots begin to work side by side to humans, we can easily expect more relatable and lifelike looking robots. Sure, the technology is still far from perfect but the advancements made in just the past 5 years are quite dramatic. This leads us to the conclusion that the world of robotics is a fast-growing one. It is only expected to expand further as technology advances and the need for automation grows.

We talk to Amit Bhingurde, COO of Tal Manufacturing Solutions Pvt Ltd, about their latest technological revolution, the TATA BRABO robot HOW DID YOU COME UP WITH THE IDEA FOR THE TATA BRABO ROBOT? TATA Motors / TATA group has already been using Robots for many years now. The first time we used Robots in a big way was when we set up the Indica Body Manufacturing line. At that time, it was even envisaged that we should manufacture Robots within TAL with collaboration with a foreign manufacturer. But the idea was dropped since the market for Big payload Robots was not so high to really justify the venture. Subsequently, during our interactions with various Customers cause of Projects being executed by TAL, we observed a lacuna of Robots being available in India at a competitive price. Foreign manufacturers of Robots charge a high value since all Robots are being manufactured outside India. On top of the acquisition cost is the cost of spare parts & service which is again very high. We noticed this fact during our working with various Customers. We also observed that the major reason that SME/MSME segment was not venturing into Robots is the fear of technology & other issues listed like acquisition cost, spare part cost & service cost. So the idea of a Robot which would be easy to use, cheap to acquire, local available spare parts & easy to service was born. The name ‘BRABO’ comes from Bravo which is kudos for generating such an idea.

I think the controller technology is the most exciting technology incorporated in the TAL BRABO Robot. Controller technology is considered as the heart of any Robotic system hence a local / indigenous controller technology which can be further broadened is going to be a very interesting aspect for a Robot engineer who wishes to learn & develop his knowledge further & also use it for technology development

WHAT HAS BEEN THE RESPONSE THAT YOU HAVE RECEIVED FOR THE ROBOT? To date we have received a very positive feedback from the Indian SME/MSME Industry. Surprisingly though we had a clear focus of concentrating on the SME/MSME segment, we have been receiving inquiries from even the OEM segment. Our recent participation in the “Make in India” event in Mumbai has given increased the response exponentially & we are now stretched to address the inquiries received in the last few weeks.

WHAT ADVICE WOULD YOU LIKE TO GIVE TO THE YOUTH WHO ARE CONSIDERING ROBOTIC ENGINEERING AS A CAREER? Robot engineering is the sunrise sector given the fact that automation is going to take off in a big way in India. Even in the current situation when we are hardly selling 2500 Robots / year, we have a severe shortfall of Robot engineers & programmers in India. Imagine a situation when we have an explosive growth & reach at a level where we sell Robots like the Chinese market (@ 55000 Robots / Year). Hence I would advise youth to consider this as a serious career option.

WHAT WERE SOME OF THE MAJOR CHALLENGES YOU FACED? The first major challenge we faced was the actual technology being available in India. We have Robot technologies available in bits & pieces in several aspects of Robot Design & manufacturing but generating the composite whole was a challenge. We managed to do this by building a team from scratch & giving them the opportunity to explore various options to develop the technologies in-house with minimal support from outside. The other challenge we faced was developing suppliers for Robot components & assemblies since till now suppliers in the Indian Industry have never ever manufactured Robots parts locally. Suppliers also had to be geared up to manufacture parts & assemblies which will have a higher reliability since the basic expectation from Robots is that they have to work all shifts (24x7).

The ever evolving cyber world brings with it crimes and danger that need the enforcement of law. We take a look at the branch of law dealing with the social media scenario and how it’s in high demand today

s the world has digitized and grown increasingly inter-connected, hacking and other computer crimes have proliferated to a staggering extent. In response, governments and local prosecutors are moving more and more aggressively to punish those they accuse of computer crimes. This means that if you’ve been accused of such a crime, you could be facing significant fines and even a lengthy jail term. Section 66 (A), which prohibits the sending of information of a grossly offensive or menacing nature through computers and communication devices, has been used by several states to arrest people over posts on social media that officials claimed were seditious, communally sensitive or abusive. Most of these arrests were for posting controversial remarks or photos, while some were for sharing, commenting on or liking such posts. In one case in Jammu and Kashmir, a person was arrested merely for being tagged to a post on social media.

“Unlike many areas of practice, media law is a very broad church and covers broadcasting, publishing, music, film, television, digital media, advertising and marketing. Solicitors work on many matters at any one time and will get involved in contentious work, such as litigation around copyright disputes, libel or defamation issues. A hefty copyright dispute may last a few years from start to finish, meaning cases rarely reach trial unless they are business critical. Litigation teams usually include three to five lawyers: a partner; senior associate; associate; and trainee or paralegal. Lawyers juggle contentious work with non-contentious matters: such as drafting and advising on contracts, talent agreements and advertising agency agreements; and providing ‘clearance’ advice for a client who wants to know if they can use, say, a particular image or a music track”, says Paul Jordan, partner and head of the advertising and marketing department within the media practice at Bristows. Cybercrime is one of the greatest threats facing our country, and has enormous implications for our national security, economic prosperity, and public safety.

A large portion of the cases I deal with presently involve content removal requests made before social media platforms. There are several reasons why one might wish to remove content from platforms like blogs and review websites – allegations of defamation and Intellectual Property infringement being prime examples. These stated reasons may be legitimate in some cases, while in others, not so much. I also handle cases where law enforcement agencies request social media websites to hand over personal information belonging to its users as part of ongoing investigations. This is an extremely sensitive activity bearing great significance to the ideals of privacy and security, which means such requests must be handled strictly in accordance with the established procedure of law. Aside from the above, SFLC.in - the organization I work with – engages extensively in the development of law and policy surrounding the use of technology both domestically and globally. We produce periodic research reports and articles on relevant issues of import, organize and participate in policy discussions, and work with the nation’s lawmakers to ensure that our technology regulatory regime is just, fair, and reasonable.

WHAT IS THE SCOPE OF MAJORING IN SOCIAL MEDIA LAW IN TODAY’S TIME? “Social media law” as a standalone topic isn’t a terribly popular field of study as of yet, and I doubt it ever will be. I say this because social media is only one small component of the larger technological revolution, and focusing legal education on one without the other might be untenable. However, the significance of social media within broader, more traditional domains such as Information Technology law has been on a steady rise. This surge in interest closely mirrors the explosive growth of social media itself in recent years, and the opportunities available to a specialized IT lawyer in today’s world are nothing short of tremendous. Most Indian law schools already offer courses on IT law as part of their curricula, sometimes as mandatory

courses and at other times as optional electives. Post law school, the number of practicing lawyers who either deal exclusively with IT law or dabble in it as part of a larger general practice is also on the rise. Several major law firms have constituted dedicated policy teams that work around telecom and IT law, and the ever-increasing number of technology startups and corporations all require expert legal advice.

IS IT ADVISABLE FOR LAWYERS TO TAKE UP SOCIAL MEDIA AS PART OF THEIR WORK? Certainly. The world as we know it is undergoing a process of rapid digitization, and connectivity is slowly becoming the norm. Many of us are already at a stage where life without the Internet is all but unimaginable. As more and more aspects of every-day life make the transition online, the need for an equitable technology regulatory regime has never been stronger. The legal community has a big role to play insofar as such regulation is concerned. With the increasing use of technology and social media comes an increasing number of previously unseen challenges and conflicts that call for the application of specialized legal acumen. Moreover, the blurring of boundaries between human interactions in the online and offline worlds will involve recalibrating existing civil and criminal laws to better suit this new and advanced medium.Suffice it to say that technology and social media are certain to storm our courts of law in a big way, as they already have in some respects, and the legal community would do well to be adequately prepared.

WHAT DOES ONE ASPIRING TO JOIN THIS FIELD NEED TO CONSIDER? The most important thing for any aspirant I would say is to be mindful of the fact that a successful career in IT/ social media law would also require a certain amount of familiarity with the underlying technologies themselves. This is something that too many people forget to mention too often. It would be impossible for instance to provide effective advice to a social media website on whether its encryption protocols are compliant with mandatory legal standards, if one doesn’t understand how encryption actually works. A working knowledge of the relevant principles would go a long way in simplifying your work.Aspirants should also consider clubbing their specialization with additional areas of specialization such as Intellectual Property law or telecommunications law, which frequently become relevant when dealing with technology regulation. As is the case with most other domains of legal practice, IT/social media law seldom functions in isolation and is more often than not intertwined with other disciplines. Specialization across all relevant fields would add considerable value to you as a lawyer and make your work that much more rewarding.

WHAT DROVE YOU TO LEAVE YOUR JOB IN AN IT COMPANY AND BECOME A TEACHER? HOW DID THE IDEA TO DEVELOP EXAMFEAR COME UP? I joined the IT industry after college. My passion for teaching was the key factor behind the start of ExamFear. com. I wanted to teach and reach the masses. Being in the IT industry, I felt that I can make use of the Internet to teach and reach millions of students throughout the world. I started creating ExamFear videos in July 2011. When I had uploaded the first video, I was curious to see the response from viewers. And, the response was awesome! MAJOR CHALLENGES FACED Gayatri Iyer from the Board of Genetic Counseling, India says that, “One of the most major setbacks faced

In one of our Applied Genetics workshop, I heard about a Master's course specializing in Genetic Counselling. This seemed to fulfil my dream of talking to other people, understanding them and helping and guiding them. Plus being a part of the medical fraternity was an added attraction. Undoubtedly I like hearing the stories of the patients, their struggle and deep rooted family emotions. I have deep empathy and compassion and that is the main aspect of my profession that keeps me motivated and excited.

WHAT ARE THE MAJOR DUTIES OF A GENETIC COUNSELOR? n Understand and interpret a patient's medical and family history n Identify a syndrome, disease or condition in the family n Educate about inheritance, testing, management, prevention, resources and research n Offer detailed counseling to promote informed choices and adaptation to the risk or condition n Avail appropriate genetic tests n Liaison between the patient, physician and the lab

WHAT IS THE MOST CHALLENGING ASPECT OF YOUR JOB? Hearing the pain and struggles of the patients and their families on a daily basis and empathizing with them

takes a toll on one's own energy and moods. Many of us often burn out or get too deeply involved in the issues and concerns of the patient's and their family. Hence it is a routine process for counsellors to de-stress by sharing and communicating with our peers. We also try to maintain a healthy distance from patient's emotions. Also with some patients, it is a challenge to put information through to them because of language, perception or psychological barriers. Some patients can be very hard, aggressive or rude. Managing the vast variety of people is quite a challenge.

WHAT DO YOU WISH YOU HAD DONE OR KNOWN DURING COLLEGE THAT MIGHT HAVE BEEN BENEFICIAL TO YOUR CAREER TODAY? I am glad I attended as many workshops, training and conferences as possible. It is truly because of those interactions that I am where I am today. There are no regrets but learning is a never ending process. I continue to learn from all the doctors, colleagues and other hospital staff that I meet on a daily basis. Getting the right exposure and environment is very important. And I have been very lucky on that front.

CAN YOU DESCRIBE A TYPICAL DAY AT WORK? I work at the Cancer Genetics Clinic in various hospitals across New Delhi. My schedule for various clinics is fixed and mostly there are appointments scheduled in advanced. During a typical counselling session, I begin with rapport building, introduction and understanding the background of the patient and their family. Then I take down details about the family and draw a detailed pedigree, identify a syndrome and estimate the risk. Then I suggest the appropriate genetic test, Pros and Cons and possible outcomes of testing are discussed. Patients take an independent informed decision if they would like to get themselves tested or not. If they wish blood/saliva samples with appropriate consent is taken for genetic testing. A summary letter of the discussion is emailed by end of the day. Post that, I meet the clinician to discuss either their cases or spread awareness and information of such tests. I am involved in many other tasks like developing new test panels and single point customer service to the referring clinicians. We also have regular projects like preparing for upcoming workshops or seminars and mentoring of junior colleagues among others.

WHAT ADVICE DO YOU HAVE FOR STUDENTS CONSIDERING A CAREER IN THIS FIELD? It's a good career option, especially for women because empathy comes naturally to them. One should take up this profession not just because it is a career option but do so only if you have an inherent skill, patience and the empathy to deal with patients and their families.

He said he was from U.P. He then went on to tell us that he was lying in a hospital bed after a hernia operation was performed on him and we were all so weirded out by that. He said he really wanted to talk to me and know how I was doing. It was sweet considering it was a long distance call but thinking of the scenario just grossed me out completely. That’s one caller I will never forget. ON MUMBAIKARS I think Mumbaikars really go through a lot. There is seriously so much more than we can do with our lives. We are the highest tax payers but we barely live our lives to the fullest. Quite frankly, we don’t have much of a choice. We are quite a busy lot. There’s so much to do and such little time, we’re practically living a 48 hour day in 24 hours. We are easily moved by what’s happening around us and are willing to work for change but we need to be pushed. On the contrary, we are more easy going and free, hardworking and driven than most people out there. We are chillers with a classic chalta hai attitude.

The RJ scene today RJing is a super kickass career but when you’re a part of it, you need to remember to give back as much as you get. Jockeys need to constantly aspire to keep the radio cool. Unanswered questions, years of worry and anxiousness have now surrendered to both traditional and new age methods of psychic healing. Pearl Mathias takes a look at some of the spiritual sciences that have gained popularity and mass belief over time

n a day and age where science and technology are breaking barriers and there are answers to questions that were left unanswered for a long time, what makes us believe in something higher and beyond ourselves? Is it the helplessness of certain situations or just the mere need to know for sure what the future holds for us that causes us to approach a spiritual reader? No matter how much we may laugh it off, we still find ourselves reading the daily horoscope while flipping through the newspaper in the morning. Do we need assurance that everything is going to be fine eventually and the reason why things are happening the way they are right now? I think it’s just human nature to want to know for certain the what, why and how of things. Although we know that what has to happen, will and there’s not much that can be done about it than modify the way we are receptive to the news; yet we possess this undying curiosity to know more right here and right now. We want to know what happened in our past lives and how it’s affecting our present and changing the future. So we dig deep. The Secret by Rhonda Byrne is a secret to no one. Brian Weiss is the master of past life regression worldwide and he’ll give you answers you never imagined. There are spiritual readers and guides who are more than willing to connect with the world beyond. It’s the faith that we humans have in them which propels them to carry on their work. I won’t be quick to dismiss their mind powers that make it possible to read into the distant past and predict the near future. Most of these spirit sciences have been passed down through generations. weren’t necessarily meant to predict anything in earlier times. It was done merely because of prior knowledge and understanding of forces higher than oneself. Today, we have come to believe that knowing beyond the obvious will help us heal, grow and change our lives. It takes you a step further in being more aware of yourself, your thoughts and actions. Between the 4th and 6th century, a man named Gautama Buddha turned heads by living an extraordinary life through mere curiosity about daily happenings. He gained enlightenment and his wisdom is spread across the masses today. His life depicted a beautiful sentiment which was set in the following words, “No one saves us but ourselves. No one can and no one may. We ourselves must walk the path.” However, to realize that we need to change is priority and today we have people to help us achieve this. We are in search of something higher than ourselves that have a strong influence on our lives. We seek the help of spiritual guides by attending seminars, watching teachings of their videos, chanting mantras or getting our kundalis read. Among other sciences that came up through the ages, we have coffee and tea leaf reading, tarot cards, aura and shadow readers, past life regression therapists as well as pranic healers that have gained momentum over the years. Vastu or feng shui helps bring about harmony with the environment and surroundings which in turn brings in prosperity and luck. At the end of the day, some are staunch religious followers while others believe in natural forces and some others believe in holding their luck in their own hands. Belief is what keeps the world moving, and in this case, certain businesses.

COFFEE AND TEA LEAF READING Did you know that there was more to a cuppa than being rejuvenated with every sip you take? Tea leaf reading or Teomancy and Coffee Ground reading or Cafeomancy is an art that’s been around for centuries. More than merely reading the leaves, you are required to delve into your psyche. However, one doesn’t necessarily need to be psychic to master this art. It is possible to read the leaves and grounds by learning the symbols and committing them to memory as well as mastering concentration. Many things can be seen at the bottom of the cup; objects, animals, people, babies among others. The more defined the symbol, the stronger the impact it has on the person’s life. The closer the symbol is to the top of the cup, the sooner it is likely to take place. Symbols also reveal positive or negative connotations. These are more to make you aware of your behavior and the changes you could possibly make. The reader and the seeker sit close together, the seeker is asked to turn the teapot once to the right and twice to the left and then pour the tea into the cup. The reader will first look at the symbols floating on the top of the full cup. If a leaf is floating, it depicts a visitor; a sturdy leaf depicts a man and a woman visitor is denoted by a softer leaf. On drinking the tea, the seeker leaves a small amount at the bottom of the cup and is asked to hold the cup and focus on their desires for the future. Depending on the ability of the reader, some see weeks or months, while others see years ahead.

SHADOW READING Shadow reading can be conducted every day with the inevitable presence of bright sunlight. They begin by measuring the person’s shadow in three postures after which the time, date and place of birth is noted. After this, calculations are done to know and understand the history of the person, problems faced and remedies for the same. Anil Babubhai Acharya, well known shadow reader tells us that this science has been carried down in his family for generations. Even though we may not have heard of it that much, shadow reading dates back to the Aryan period when they worshipped the sun. Shadows were highly significant to them then as all their calculations, including time, were based on reading it. The Acharya family has studied and mastered this tradition, which not only predicts the present, but also tells one’s past and peeps into what the future holds. This science can be used to recommend the best time for business activities and to guide couples on the best time for them to try to conceive a baby, love, health and spiritual progress. He also stated that through shadow reading, he can tell if we’re applying ourselves to the right career based on our karmic journey. Although this is a slightly dying art, this unique method of predicting every detail of a person’s life - health, relationships, career, kids, friends, partner, spiritual quest, karmas, dissolving of bad karmas and energy balancing, along with the opening of body charkas, balancing of it and removing of blockages with an approximate prediction of the time period during which the events will take place is extremely accurate. AURA READING The aura is your energy identity. It is a swirling mass of colors which represents you on the mental, physical and emotional level. Your thoughts and feelings give color to your aura, making it possible for a psychic to know what you are experiencing. It is widely accepted that there are 7 levels of the aura; however some psychics are able to perceive subtler levels. Healthy auras are brighter and bigger, radiating a positivity and warmth that is tangible to everyone. Auraâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s have been represented in various religions since time immemorial. In many Hindu paintings of gods and goddesses, the aura is marked on their back head. The Buddhist flag represents the colors seen around the enlightened Buddha. White light cleansing is one of the most widely used techniques which provide quick but short term relief. While white light or even golden light cleansing is a perfectly good energy healing tool, dealing with the root cause of the issue requires deeper energy work, namely through chakra healing, guided visualizations and specific meditation techniques. Other popular methods include crystal healing, salt baths, burning camphor, frankincense and white sage. In todayâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s technology savvy world it is possible for the layman to see his aura and understand its many nuances. PRANIC HEALING Pranic Healing is a highly evolved and tested system of energy medicine developed by Grand Master Choa Kok Sui. It utilizes prana to balance, harmonize and transform the body's energy processes. Prana is a Sanskrit word that means life-force. This invisible bio-energy or vital energy keeps the body alive and maintains a state of good health. In acupuncture, the Chinese refer to this subtle energy as Chi. In Hebrew, it is also called Ruach or the Breath of Life. Pranic healing comprises of a simple yet powerful and effective system of no-touch energy healing. It is based on the fundamental principles that the body is a self-repairing living entity that possesses the ability to heal itself and that the healing process is accelerated by increasing this life force that is readily available from the sun, air and ground to address our physical and emotional imbalances. This form of healing requires no drugs, gadgets, not even physical contact with the subject. The reason Pranic Healing works on the energy body is that physical ailments first appear as energetic disruptions in the aura before manifesting as problems in the physical body. The pervasive energy that borders, interpenetrates and sustains the physical body, also affects our emotions, our ability to handle stress and even finances. These forms of Energy Healing are also related to the "Laying on of hands" in the Christian Tradition and "Do In" in the Japanese Tradition. PAST LIFE REGRESSION If you have ever wondered why you have a fear of heights or you look at a stranger and feel like you know them, the answers may lie in your past life, says Brian Weiss, author of Miracles Happen. Through past-life regression, Dr. Weiss says it's possible to heal and grow, your mind, body and soul, as well as strengthen your present-day relationships. One of the most common signs of a past life is déjà vu—the sensation that you have met a person before or have visited someplace previously. Sometimes, this déjà vu feeling is a sign of a past life with a particular person or in a specific place. Past-life recollections aren’t always actual memories; they may also contain symbols and metaphors that need to be interpreted so that their meaning and message can become clear. These symbols are no less powerful than literal ones. The technique used during past life regression involves the subject answering a series of questions while hypnotized to reveal identity and events of alleged past lives. It is very common to travel through different lives with the same group of souls; they are called groupings, soul mates or soul companions, or soul families. We seem to learn our spiritual lessons and accumulate or resolve our karma with our soul groups. Relationships may change from life to life, but the souls are the same. Dr. Weiss says if you can connect your current fears to a past life, those fears will often disappear. In ancient Indian literature, the Upanishads mention past-life regression. The Hindu scholar Patañjali discussed the idea of the soul becoming burdened with an accumulation of impressions as part of the karma from previous lives. Patañjali called the process of past-life regression prati-prasav which means ‘reverse birthing’, and saw it as addressing current problems through memories of past lives. Some types of yoga continue to use prati-prasav. In the religious mythology of China the deity Meng Po, also known as the ‘Lady of Forgetfulness’, prevents souls from remembering their past lives. She gives them a bittersweet drink that erases all memories before they climb the wheel of reincarnation.

This very section of the Bible of friendship has remained evergreen over the decades. Let’s fast forward to today. In these times, where it is oh-so-hard to keep up with the ever changing dynamics of relationships, let’s ask ourselves – Does the overplayed taboo of dating your best friend’s ex still exist? A typical friendship would entail you to have lived vicariously through your best friend’s relationships. Right up from the dizzy ‘I’m-in-love’ chase, to the suffocating ‘why-me’ break up, well in most cases. You’ve always been there for your best friend. Wouldn’t dating their ex feel like a violation of your conscience? ‘Do what makes you happy and deal with the consequences later’ works for some as the perfect mantra. If this fresh start makes you happy and you are willing to risk stepping down on the friendship ladder and face the probable repercussions, then by all means go ahead. After all if they had their shot and it didn’t work doesn’t rule out the fact that you can’t have yours. Some view it as the ultimate betrayal of friendship. On the other hand, some, including Taylor Swift is completely accepting of the prospect of dating her best friend’s ex. She says, “It's almost like the sisterhood has such a higher place on the list of priorities for us. It's so much more important than some guy that it didn't work out with." She definitely has her hoes-over-bros and sister-over-mister ideologies on point. Love and liking definitely have uncanny timing. They spark up when you least expect it to come along. It is understandable that the situation is overwhelming and you’re torn between both ends. Exes are always a touchy topic. Writers, artists and musicians have woven their art around it since time immemorial. All tied together by one belief - love. Moment of truth, can your feelings be controlled? In such relationships there are three parties involved. You – ‘The master of your fate’ and ‘the captain of your soul’. Your best friend, who is a probable blessing in your life. Lastly, the ex, who once upon a time was center of your best friend’s universe and now, might be the center of yours. In order to maintain calm and composure in this pseudo love triangle, the first checkpoint is to make yourself sure of your feelings. Ask the squeaky voice in the back of your head whether it’s just a mere infatuation or whether you feel the love with every fiber of your being. After all, it is your best friendship at peril. Is it worth the risk? More often than not your best friend will not be okay with the fact that you’re dating his/her ex. It is always a good idea to run it by them even if you’re scared of their reaction. This is imperative because nothing is worse than finding out that the two of you were sneaking around behind your friend’s back. Even if your friend has indeed given you the green signal, always think twice. It may sound trivial, but there is a difference in saying that they are okay with the romance and actually seeing it unfold.

The popular saying goes, “Time heals all wounds.” Make sure that there is an adequate time interval after your best friend’s breakup and your new relationship. The more time you give, the less the pain for them. Just like hand-me-downs are tacky, so are man-me-downs. Since we’re talking about time, another point is to give your friend time to accept the relationship. You could probably expect a series of reactions ranging from pride screaming out loud, “Great! Apple iPhone SE Apple is back with its new iPhone SE (Special Edition). Apple has taken a big risk by launching this small 4inch screen device which is like an update to the iPhone 5s. The small device is a beast powered by the Apple A9 64 bit processor. The 12 megapixel rear camera captures amazing live photos and records videos in 4k whereas the front camera captures 1.2 megapixel images. Apple claims the iPhone SE to have the same processing and graphics performance as the iPhone 6s whereas the design is very similar to the iPhone 5S. riends of mine, Raju and Anshu Buddhiraju are both bankers. They met at the bank , fell in love, live with each other and as we sit to sip on tea together, relating our catch-up stories, they fondly relate scenarios about their long chats at night cuddled in their quilt, discussing funny clients and bank anecdotes with each other companionably at night. Another set of dentist friends who met at Dentistry school, fell madly in love and married; but on the other hand rather soon found out that they were getting onto each other’s nerves -until they came to some solution of working at different branches of their clinics to give each other space. A union of partners in the same profession is more often a challenging situation at the best of times, but some sail through seamlessly and happily like a fairy tale. On the other hand it can turn the marriage into a war zone where differences in opinion can actually jolt a magical relationship into a nightmare. Friends in the hotel line got married through hotel management school and tell me how they prefer to marry within their profession and even in the same company. Their partners are more accommodating to erratic timings and more empathetic to work fatigue. They also swap each other’s shifts if there is a crisis at home and are able to cover hours for each other. There is no space for suspicion and explanation and there is a lot of sharing and caring which is integral to a relationship. The very same situation can turn upon its head in the entertainment, television and acting lines because instead of having an understanding of the ‘funda’ of the profession, all sorts of suspicions, distrust, temptations create threatening scenarios that they almost throw each other out of the relationship every night. Famed artist Jaideep and Seema Mehrotra work together, and have done so for thirty years. “We keep it together by delineating each other’s duties and not being too interfering, demanding or preachy. It is important for a couple to be clear of what is the scope of work of each spouse and allow space for each other.” Also couples who work together enjoy more time together and are able to see their loved ones more than just at night when they are tired and done with the day exhausted. When I think about a couple working in the same organization I know that salary comparisons and competitiveness are issues too. I’ve seen couples drift apart due to one triumphing and the other feeling demotivated. And then there is the fear of a crunch time in the company or a disaster at work where both get affected instead of a couple where one can hold the fort if another’s company goes through crisis. These situations pose real life predicaments that also can strain interpersonal relationships. I’ve seen relationships end on bitter notes that were once of love, sharing and caring. If I was to share a personal experience, I’ve seen more energy and excitement when partners belong to different

fields. There is that special zing to a relationship where each brings different core competencies to the table and meet after dealing with their work and coming home to a different fresh atmosphere with an interest and awe about their partners work. The bottom line in relationships is to deal with a bond in a state of love, equanimity and not like a circumstance where the ego has to prove a point. A marriage has to be win win for both and to work that out one has to figure out temperaments and find out what works for a couple because each equation is different, unique and special. Of course discord and disparity can grow in any relationship of love, like a fungal growth. I feel in a marriage where there is no professional partnership, there is no antagonism to the others equally strong stands. In the home sphere, for all psychological reasons there is more willingness to give and take and to surrender to a degree to the others opinion however strongly one may feel. For a solution in a common workplace, I’d say go from the known to the unknown which is easier. If a spouse remembers that in the home front, he or she says ‘ok darling, we’ll go your way” it’s no big deal, and if you bring the same attitude to the work front it’s often a harmonious outcome. And surely giving in, understanding or empathizing with the others viewpoint need not necessarily result in immense disaster in the workplace. Love and harmony are a given and mutual respect for each other’s feelings are the important fulcrum to the working of a relationship, the pros of a companionable working relationship and happy person far outweigh the downside. Love does conquer all. To bring it to its maximum optimal level one must do whatever it takes to work things to their maximum advantage. If the adage ‘opposites attract’ work for you, use that route. If you derive comfort from a partner in your own profession then go for that path and enjoy the journey. yi Read

he Jawaharlal National University issue has been all over the news for more than a month now due to anti – national activities and sedition charges. Let’s take a dive into what the issue really comprises of.

The Media and It’s Effect The media wouldn’t miss this; within no time all the leading channels were filled with the JNU news. Many news channels held separate shows and debates dedicated to JNU. Videos were released on social media which alleged JNU people raising anti-national slogans. The papers had a new headline to play with. The JNU issue was completely taken over by all forms of media. Many channels and papers had already started offering their opinions based on loose facts without full knowledge of the complete incident. The media should have been more careful and responsible in delivering the news. Out of the 7 videos released, 3 were doctored and these were openly broadcasted on visual media and social media. These slogans infuriated the citizens of the country. It was strange to see so much patriotism in people on a day except the 26th of January and 15th of August. It was good to see so much love and compassion in the hearts of Indians just until they turned violent. People started hating JNU and started campaigning against them verbally, physically and digitally.

How it all started? All this began with a simple cultural event called ’The Country without a Post Office’, organised in the campus of the JNU. This was merely a cultural event organized against the “judicial killing of Afzal Guru and Maqbool Bhat in solidarity with the struggle of Kashmiri people for their democratic right to self determination”. The permission for this cultural event was taken back by the JNU authority at the last hour due to a letter by ABVP (Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad) on the grounds that this would endanger the communal harmony of the campus. The students went ahead with the event against the permission of the authority. This led to protests by the ABVP against the students of JNU who wanted

Well, the slogans that were shouted were brutal; they were unlike protests and more like threats to the country. Anyone threatening the country is definitely an anti – national and should be put on due trial. The twist that comes here is that many JNU students are denying that they were a part of the crowd shouting anti – national slogans. They are denying any allegation of being anti – national. We cannot label all the students based on a video showing a couple of them shouting slogans. That’s just like calling all the Muslims terrorists, based on the acts of ISIS. Anyone threatening the country or harming the communal harmony should be punished and hated but only after proper trial and after realisation of facts and figures. The violent steps taken by ABVP or the lawyers (who beat up Kanhaiya Kumar during his court hearing) are completely unfair and wrong. We all have a right to speak but we do not have the right to beat up someone or to become the final judge. What is Sedition and who is Kanhaiya Kumar? Sedition in simple words means bringing hatred or contempt or dissatisfaction towards the government by any written spoken or visible means. Section ‘124 – A’ defines sedition and deals with the punishments that can be given. There has been much questioning if the law of sedition should still continue to be or not. Kanhaiya Kumar is a leader of the All India Students Federation (Student wing of the Communist Party of India) and the president of JNU student’s Union. Kumar was arrested by the Delhi Police and a case of sedition was registered against him. Kanhaiya was accused for the anti – national slogans that were shouted. As of now he has been released on an Rs 10,000 interim bail. Kumar has denied all charges against him on national television and he disassociated himself from any anti-national slogan shouted. The Delhi Government itself did not find any evidence to prove Kanhaiya was involved in raising the slogans. Kumar received a lot of hatred from the citizens during the whole issue because of the incomplete knowledge of facts and inappropriate broadcasting of news.

In My Opinion I am not a supporter of JNU nor am I a hypocrite who is anti – national. Firstly, this small cultural event was supposed to be a university affair and not a country affair which it turned into due to interference by the ABVP and with the support of the media. This event would have quietly and peacefully ended if the JNU students were given “freedom of speech” to hold the event or have a conversation or debate about it. Well, it didn’t quite go that well. This is the “freedom of speech” that should have been given to them, but they do not have the freedom to shout senseless slogans that call for destruction of India. Why would they do that? Even if you believe Afzal Guru was wrongfully hanged, or that he was not a part of the Parliament attacks of 2001, or that he is a martyr, you can question the government or judiciary, why would anyone shout anti – national slogans is completely beyond my mind. We have to realise how everything went wrong from the beginning and the result was not good. People have so much hatred in their hearts for the JNU. Well, we should give a thought as to whether the students really hate the country and want to destroy it or do they just want freedom to hold a controversial debate. This cultural event in no time was dragged into politics and media. The students had a lot to deal with, maybe they made mistakes which were unintentional or said some controversial statements but that doesn’t mean they hate the country and that doesn’t mean we should hate them. I assure you they love the country as was said by general students of JNU in some of the interviews. Maybe a small group got agitated and committed wrongful acts but not everyone has to be punished for that. Any unlawful act deserves punishment to rehabilitate the doer, just being violent and having one sided opinions would not help anyone. I bet they love the country just as much as we do. So let’s think again if we hate JNU or if we hate anti – nationals. yi

You definitely are going to keep ‘Bombfelleralla’ on repeat mode; you’ll enjoy this funky upbeat even if you don’t know Swedish. One Republic’s ‘If that’s What You Wanted’, though not a part of the movie, was played in the trailers; it’s touching.

Glorious and serene scores of Gladiator known as one of Hans Zimmer’s best work. Listening to all the eighteen tracks is a delightful journey to the Roman Empire and afterlife. The slowly growing cue during the opening introduces the ambience of the Roman era. Lisa Gerrard’s ‘Elysium’ is a beautiful cue that later combines with Zimmer’s ‘Earth’ forming the most loved ‘Now We Are Free’; it is powerfully invigorating. ‘The Battle’ is a thrilling, action piece. It’s a good find for quality music seekers. This is just one of Zimmer's bests.

This book is a window to the mind of a psychopath. This book seems to have a gory, bloody storyline; a wealthy businessman with the alter ego of a serial killer, but it’s much more twisted than that.

Chuck Palahnuik is a satirist to the core. It is the story of a medical school dropout who comes up with a plan to pay for the elder care for his mother. CUISINE: Chinese, Thai, Malaysian, Asian BITES AND BOOZE: Visting this restaurant on a weeknight was an absolute pleasure. Though it was a week night, the restaurant had attracted a sizable number of people, and the vibe was great. The interiors gave us the feel of an authentic Mumbai restaurant with Pan Asian inspirations. We started off with their tantalising Salt & Pepper Prawns and a Tamarind Whiskey Sour, which perfectly complemented each other. Their Spicy Chicken Wings were an absolute delight to our tastebuds. Their Fish And Chips Bao, which was a kind of Chinese Burger, was one of the most unique dishes that we've ever had till date. Their Chok Dee, a tequila-based drink with Thai Ginger Extract and a Kafir Lime Leaf was seansational. We moved on to our main course with the Roti Canai and an Island Smash, which is their version of the LIT. The Roti Canai, a malay chicken curry served with Paratha and salad had us licking our fingertips. We ended our meal with a gorgeous Hazelnut Bowl for dessert, a chocolate mousse with brownie pieces inside a chocolate bowl with caramel sauce and vanilla icecream, which has to be the perfect way to end a meal. FAB OR DRAB: Lemon Leaf is a definite must-vist. The ambience is gorgeous, with the perfect music to accompany, and it attracts a fabulous crowd. The service is quick and friendly, and with fabulous food to follow, this is not a place you should miss. CUISINE: Fast Food, Beverages, Desserts BITES AND BOOZE: We entered 145 on a Saturday evening and it was full of youngsters all over the place; at the bar, the pool table and huddled at the corner tables. The place is beautifully designed and has a very artsy touch to it, right from the ceiling to the floor. We started off with the Adam’s Godfather which had such a generous proportion of whiskey and a lingering aftertaste. The B52 is a shooter you won’t regret. The Cookie Shots are a must have out there, with the edible cookie glass to follow your drink. Buttery pav bhaji was served in delicious bread cones and upma polenta delicately complimented the traditional tandoori prawns. The Chicken Satay comprised of perfectly barbecued chicken served with a crunchy peanut sauce; coupled with the Watermelon Twist and a resounding taste of basil and ginger, made for the most delicious combination. Their signature dish is the Butter Chicken Bao, which is finger licking good. The fun doesn’t end here. The Red Velvet cupcake ice cream burger was the highlight at the end of the meal. Another must try dessert is the Nutella Cinnamon Roll. We ended the night with complimentary chewy cola and orange ice sticks which took us back to our younger, summer, after school days. FAB OR DRAB: From the presentation of the food and drinks to the interiors, this place gets a big thumbs up. Not to mention the rates that couldn’t have been any lighter on our pockets. The 18th of this month saw the return of the much-awaited youth event, YouTube FanFest. The event took place at Mumbai's NSCI SVI indoor stadium, and was an absolute riot.

India beats Pakistan by 6 wickets in World Twenty20 2016

The much-awaited India VS Pakistan World T20 match on th March can easily be termed as one of the biggest highlights of March 2016. India beat Pakistan by six wickets, resulting in a celebration of magnanimous proportion all over the country. Apple's event bought the reintroduction of the small phone screen with the newly released iPhone SE. In one of the most bizzare turn of events in recent times, legendary actor Amitabh Bachchan got sued for making a mistake in the Indian National Anthem. The actor sang the National Anthem at Eden Garden, Kolkatta before the T20 India VS Pakistan match in 1 minute and 2 seconds instead of the required 52 seconds, and got sued for it.

The Indian politician kicked up a major controversy by comparing the JNU students' union president Kanhaiya Kumar, who is currently facing sedition charges, to freedom fighter Bhagat Singh. The comparison drew ire from the BJP, which led to Tharoor having to clarify that he only meant that like Bhagat Singh, Kanhaiya was also a young man in his twenties with Marxist ideas and beliefs and a great passion for his motherland.
