YORKE Peninsula is the perfect place to escape the hustle and bustle of the city. With its pristine beaches, great fishing, shopping facilities and scrumptious food outlets, Yorke Peninsula is a great place to buy a holiday home. Craig Schopp, of Adelaide, has recently purchased a weekender at North Beach, Wallaroo, to create precious memories with his wife and two children. "I'm originally from the Mid North but I can remember as a child we would come to Wallaroo regularly for day trips to the beach," Mr Schopp said. "Also, when I was young, we used to stay with relatives. “Buying a holiday weekender here is perfect because there is great fishing and safe beaches for the family. "We are planning to improve the house and visit on weekends as much as we can to get away from the rat-race of Adelaide." Mr Schopp said Wallaroo is a great place to relax and unwind. "Wallaroo has obviously changed a lot with new developments since I was young but a lot has stayed the same which is nice," he said. "It has a lot of the same feeling it did when I was young with the beach and fishing giving Wallaroo great appeal." Blights Real Estate's Neville Hibbard said the Copper Coast is the lifestyle location of choice. "The Copper Coast is relatively close to Adelaide, especially the northern suburbs, so you don't have far to go," Mr Hibbard said. "It has beautiful beaches, Kadina has all the shopping you need and it's not like travelling to Port Lincoln because it's close and easy."

Wallaroo Shores’ coming attraction The Dunes, Port Hughes ADVERTISING PROMOTION ❚ LIMITED-TIME OFFER... Golf-course frontage allotments at The Dunes, Port Hughes, contracted before the end of April 2016 will sell for 10 per cent off the advertised price with stamp duty costs paid by the developer.

Special Easter offer for The Dunes THE release of an exciting new land offer at The Dunes, Port Hughes, could have you enjoying a daily stroll along one of South Australia’s most stunning beaches a lot sooner than you thought possible. To celebrate the Easter break, The Dunes has released a special, limitedtime offer for all golf-course frontage allotments contracted before the end of April 2016, including 10 per cent off the advertised price and stamp duty costs to be paid by the developer. “These are some of the most sought-after blocks in the development, given their proximity to the Greg Norman-designed course, so we’re delighted to be able to make this offer,” says the development’s project consultant Kevin McGuiness. “The momentum around the development is really lifting and we want to give people the best opportunity to secure their own piece of paradise,” Kevin says. “We’ve just had 30 people from across South Australia join a VIP trip to The Dunes to experience the lifestyle firsthand, we have the Golf Pro-Am coming up, and a new display home set to open.” Located less than two hours from Adelaide, The Dunes is close enough to be easily accessible, yet far enough

to leave the hustle and bustle behind. Within a barefoot stroll of stunning beaches and the renowned golf course, this coastal community offers a premium lifestyle opportunity at an affordable price. This impressive development features striking home designs in contemporary architectural styles that embrace the colours, textures and features of the surrounding coastal landscape. “Builders are creating more and more impressive home displays to meet the demand for the unique, highquality housing that has become characteristic of The Dunes,” Kevin says. Another striking new home display is set to open in coming months on the corner of Albatross Drive and Par Court. This new Wahlstedt Quality Homes design features three bedrooms, two bathrooms and large open-plan living and dining, a doublecar garage and alfresco area. “This addition to our already diverse housing design portfolio will make the perfect home for families wishing to take advantage of The Dunes lifestyle on a permanent or holiday basis,” Kevin says. The Dunes sales office is open over Easter, 1pm-4pm Saturday and Sunday, and 11am-2pm Monday; and during April on selected weekends.

A BIG screen, plush reclining seats, an appetising menu, and the opportunity to watch the latest blockbuster films is an ideal way to sit back, relax and unwind. This luxurious experience will become an attraction at Wallaroo Shores, with a premier boutique movie theatre set to be a signature of the $220-million residential, tourism and retail development. The cinema will be part of the development’s twostorey function centre and will boast 40 seats to showcase new release movies, concerts and special screenings, all of which serves to enhance the town’s reputation as the ultimate relaxation and recreation destination. “We believe this cinema will provide Wallaroo residents with a luxury facility to enjoy, and offer holidaymakers another relaxing and family-friendly activity,” Monopoly Property Group executive chairman and founder Ben Howard said. The venue will be suitable for seminars and other public speaking events and the live streaming of major sporting events onto the big screen may be on the cards, with negotiations ongoing. The cinema is another exciting addition to the significant development, which has already unveiled plans for more than 450 new homes, a lifestyle village and retail facilities for those seeking a tranquil, coastal lifestyle. “Wallaroo Shores will be the largest beachfront

Autumn lawn care tips

❚ SECRET’S OUT... Max Veenhuyzen, of Qantas Travel Insider, chose Marion Bay as one of his top seven secret stretches of Australian coastline. This region of coastal grandeur and exhilarating beauty is just three hours’ drive from Adelaide.

Marion Bay... the secret’s out! PROXIMITY to Innes National Park might be Marion Bay’s claim to fame but the town has its own appeal. Nestled on the southern tip of Yorke Peninsula, Marion Bay is home to some of the best beaches in Australia. These beaches are great for surfing, fishing and swimming, while Marion Bay Tavern hits the spot with wood-fired pizza and a parochial wine list. Fishing and boating is world class, and beach and jetty fishing is available. The bay has a jetty and boat ramp to capitalise on the autumn mullet run, as well as a sheltered swimming beach and a surf beach. A rare rural residential, prime coastal lifestyle opportunity, Marion Bay Rise has amazing coastal and rural views, the development itself presenting unspoilt natural beauty. Marion Bay Rise

AS the temperature changes this autumn, so too should your lawn care. Turf Australia president Ross Boyle explains, as the weather cools, there are a few simple steps to give your lawn the boost it needs to stay healthy over winter. “During autumn, lawns start to slow down,” he says. “You might not need to water it as often as you do through the summer months, but there are a few simple tricks you can do now that will keep your lawn growing well and prevent weeds taking hold over the winter months.” Here are his top five autumn lawn care tips — Fertilise: Autumn is fertilising time. Fertilising now will give your lawn the boost it needs to keep it healthy through winter. It will also help prevent weeds from taking hold while your lawn’s growth rate slows. Clear the leaves: A build-up of leaves on the ground can damage your lawn. Be sure to rake them up or, if it’s just a few, mow with a catcher. Leaves left to decompose on the lawn can starve it of sunlight, increase the risk of disease and damage your lawn.

Lift your mower height: Raise the height of your mower a couple of notches. Keeping your lawn a little higher helps it absorb more sunlight and protects it from the cooler weather. Slow the watering: As the weather cools, your lawn won’t need as much water but, if the weather is exceptionally dry or you have a hot spell, a deep watering may still be necessary. Otherwise, rainfall will generally be enough. Attack weeds and grubs: Broadleaf weeds and lawn grubs can take hold in autumn. If you notice any of these appearing, it’s best to take control of them before they become established. A general broadleaf weed killer that’s safe for your lawn variety will take care of most broadleaf weeds; if you are unsure, it’s best to seek advice from a professional. Lawn grubs can often be identified by the presence of birds on your lawn or bare patches. If you think you have them, it’s also best to speak to a local professional for the best advice on how to treat them for your lawn. For more information visit turfaustralia.com.au or facebook.com/lawn spiration.

❚ BIGGER ALLOTMENTS... Marion Bay Rise Stage 2, with family-friendly, bigger, four-acre allotments, is on sale through Yorkes Real Estate. allows you to build your dream home on a superb 4-acre (1.6ha) or 1.25acre (5000sqm) allotment. This family-friendly estate, available for sale through Yorkes Real Estate SA, is just out of town, only minutes’ walk

to the beach, jetty, tavern and general store. Three blocks remain in Stage 1; just released, Stage 2 has eight 4-acre allotments, with no time limit to build. The development offers premium house and land packages, as

well as generous-size lots designed to accommodate bigger homes and a shed for your boat. Colleen Martin, of Yorkes Real Estate SA, says Marion Bay Rise also caters for people interested in starting a small business, with

commercial blocks available in the Marion Bay Commercial Park. “Yorkes Real Estate SA is now in Minlaton and Marion Bay, and has extremely well-priced houses and land on Yorke Peninsula,” Ms Martin says.

HEALTHY... Follow simple steps to give your lawn the boost it needs to stay healthy over winter.

A SENSE of community, caring and reliable support from staff members, and an array of activities are what Brian and Ruth Nadebaum enjoy about living at Barunga by the Sea. The Nadebaums’ interest in the Port Broughton retirement village was sparked when they visited friends living there. They made the move from Adelaide in 2010. “We were knocked for six by the stunning seaside town and by our friends’ three-bedroom home, so much so we bought a home similar to theirs,” the Nadebaums said. Brian said Barunga by the Sea appealed to him because there are 45 units and this ensured him there would be personalised care. “There is also a sense of independence and freedom,” he said. Ruth said their move to Barunga by the Sea is the

best decision they ever made. “At the end of our time in Adelaide my health began to deteriorate and I was in hospital a lot,” Ruth said. “We have had a busy life raising three children and this was an important decision to do something for ourselves.” After a year of living in their home, Ruth acknowledged she needed more support in day-to-day activities and registered for a Home Care Package from Barunga Home Care. These packages are delivered under a consumerdirected model and support clients who wish to continue living in their own homes. The Barunga Home Care team helps clients customise a package of services to meet their needs, from basic cleaning to personal assistance such as showering and meals.

“The package means I have added support such as transport to the doctors or hairdressers, cleaning the house and sorting out the grocery shopping,” Ruth said. Brian said it offers great assistance to the couple and, while he still makes the bed each day and hangs out the washing, the support means he has more time to immerse himself in the Port Broughton community. “Every Thursday night I coach the junior players at the Port Broughton Tennis Club,” Brian said. “When I began there were very few players, now we have 40. “I have always had an interest in tennis and through coaching I have met many community members. “And you know what they say, being around young people helps to keep you young.”

A sense of community is important to Brian, who said Port Broughton locals are willing to help one another. Brian also takes an interest in the men’s shed, table tennis, carpet bowls and outings organised by Barunga staff. Ruth and Brian have made great friends by attending the local church and they enjoy being pampered at Blue Birds in the Hospital Community Centre where they can have a massage and Ruth has her nails manicured. Ruth and Brian are regulars at Wednesday’s roast lunch at Barunga Homes’ Gloria’s Cafe, which is open to the public. “The roast changes each week and we go there so often they know what vegetables we like,” Ruth said. “There’s not a day that goes by Brian and I don’t enjoy living here.”
