Welcome For more than 250 years York Theatre Royal has played an important role in the lives of the community of York and beyond. The Theatre offers a rich and diverse programme of creative activity that delights its many audiences. As one of the UK’s leading producing theatres, we have an excellent reputation for creating innovative and diverse productions. We support new talent and work with a range of artistic partners to create quality, original work. York Theatre Royal is nationally recognised for the strength of its engagement with children and young people. We are renowned for our ambitious work with hundreds of young people each year through our Youth Theatre and projects such as the Takeover Festival. The Theatre is at the heart of both the cultural and community offer of the city. Not only does our work help to create a lifelong love of storytelling and the theatre, our buildings also welcome hundreds of members of the community each day to relax in our café or take part in workshops and other activities. It is now all of our responsibilities to ensure the legacy of this great resource into the future. We have ambitious plans for the next few years, particularly in two key areas: •
Developing new plays and productions – working with new artists and seeking out new talent to work together to produce plays that tell stories in inspiring and imaginative ways.
•
Producing new opportunities for children and young people to be inspired through an active engagement with high quality arts activity.
An Invitation York Theatre Royal’s ambitious plans require the support of fellow cultural ambassadors; those who understand the benefits that a dynamic, forward thinking theatre can bring to a city and the surrounding areas. As such, we invite you to be a part of our plans, and of the future of the Theatre, as a York Theatre Royal Founding Patron.
A Connection to the Theatre York Theatre Royal’s Founding Patrons will take a special place at the heart of Theatre life. The benefits for York Theatre Royal Founding Patrons are available throughout the inaugural year of the scheme. Founding Patrons will be invited to continue to support the Theatre after the initial year.
A Special Relationship Founding Patrons of York Theatre Royal will be at the heart of all we do.
