FESTIVAL
TAKEOVER UNDER NEW MANAGEMENT This year's Takeover is a selection box of theatre, music, dance and comedy, giving you the opportunity to see established companies, new talent and to try something new. Trestle Theatre bring their famous mask and physical style to the festival with the political thriller Burn my Heart, whilst Imitating the Dog will be blurring the lines between theatre and film in their modern age ghost story Hotel Methuselah. This half term we also have stuff to keep younger audiences entertained with Tortoise in a Nut Shell’s The Last Miner and Mud Pie Arts bringing a Halloween themed adventure to the theatre. This year's Takeover is about far more than what is on stage in our Studio and Main House, with our front of house space becoming a key part of the festival experience and several shows taking place outside of the theatre building itself, including Elsewhere, the collaboration between Edinburgh Fringe favourite Belt Up and the theatre’s Young Actors Company. On top of that Takeover will be giving you opportunities to get involved in the festival throughout the week with a diverse selection of workshops, events such as Takeover the City (a day of pervasive gaming and other things across York) and even performance opportunities with Hatch and our Open Mic Night hosted by Birmingham wordsmith Polarbear, who will also be bringing his new show Return to the festival. The festival promises to be a bold, adventurous and thought provoking week of performances.
