Set up in 2012, Recipes Restaurant Management (RRM) is a dynamic food and beverage concept developer and operator based in the United Arab Emirates. Our founding partners, all like-minded Emiratis with established track records in multiple business sectors, are driven more by the love of memorable dining experiences and developing long term partnerships than the simple nuts and bolts of the bottom line. Don’t get us wrong, we believe in making a profit, but we are absolutely committed to working with people who share our straight-talking, no-nonsense approach to business. In short we like to partner with people we like and, hopefully, like us. We apply the same approach to brands. Whether we are buying into an existing concept or developing a brand new one, we have to connect with it on a personal level. The passion has to be there.

In 2013, RRM signed up the exclusive franchise rights for Burger Joint NY across the entire GCC region. This was after a long and committed negotiation which involved numerous site visits and detailed studies. Over time, we earned their trust and proved our knowledge of the regional market. We opened our first restaurant in Dubai’s exclusive City Walk in early 2014. Our second branch in Abu Dhabi’s Nation Towers Mall is scheduled to open in April. We loved the brand for its simplicity, quality and excellent value for money. We absolutely had to have it. And it really hits the mark as a community diner which is something we consider a vital component for the success of any restaurant.

Community is something we definitely consider in detail when looking at new opportunities. A case in point was the creation of our own proprietary brand, in collaboration with a group of fellow investors, Urban Bites. We looked at the market and felt that there was a gap for an upscale quick service restaurant offering freshly made, readyto-eat sandwiches, soups and salads for takeaway and dine in. The core concept of the brand is based on the ready-to-eat proposition. This represented a genuine competitive point of difference in the UAE market. We currently operate two outlets in Abu Dhabi expanding to four in the next few months, focusing on specific communities, tailoring our offering accordingly.

SAIF GHOBASH Co-founder of RRM and founder of Ampersand Education, Madaa Investment and Urban Bites, Saif has impeccable educational and professional credentials. He secured a Bachelor of Science in Economics from The Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia. He is a member of the Wharton Executive Board for Europe, the Middle East and Africa and a member of the Dean’s Council at the Harvard Kennedy School of Government. He also set up the Ghobash Family Fellowship at Wharton, funding one GCC student a year seeking an MBA. He served as Acting Chief Executive Officer and Chief Operating Officer of Abu Dhabi Media (ADM), where he helped to transform the organization into a successful public-service oriented media vehicle. He was also a Director at the Office of Strategic Affairs at the Court of the Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi. Saif’s position in ADM gave him the opportunity to become the Chairman of United Printing and Publishing and LIVE, subsidiaries of ADM, both of which he turned into profit making companies. He is also a member of the Board of Emirates Palace Corporation and Al Dhafra Insurance Company. Before ADM, he was a Senior Consultant at Booz Allen Hamilton’s Abu Dhabi office, and and Investment Analyst at the Abu Dhabi Investment Authority in the Emerging Markets unit of the Listed Equities Department. Over and above all this, Saif is a member of the board of his family business, Ghobash Trading and Investment, a company established in 1981 with interests in sectors including Investment, Information Technology, Retail (Sahara Centre, Sharjah) & Hospitality, Health Care, Trade and Services and Chemical Industry.

SAEED BIN MOHAMMED AL QASSIMI A well-established Emirati business man with extensive interests in a wide variety of industry sectors both locally and internationally, Saeed holds a Bachelors in Business Administration from Suffolk university and a Masters in Multinational Commerce from Boston University. His family business, of which he is a key director, is active in areas such as real estate, retail, equities trading and investment. Some of these include Mega Mall, one of the largest shopping malls in Sharjah, Star Corporation, a restaurant management company in the UAE, operating brands such as Leopold ‘s of London and Smoking Doll, as well as 2XL a luxury furniture and home decor retailer with outlets in high traffic locations across the UAE. Saeed is the founder and chairman of Easy Lease vehicle rentals, founder and chairman of leading real estate brokerage, Square Metre Properties and Vice President of Citadel Properties, which is owned by the family business, managing properties across the UAE. In addition to his considerable activities in his own personal and family businesses, Saeed linked up with Saif Gobash to create RRM and, together with a group of fellow local investors, establish a totally new F&B brand called Urban Bites. In short, Saeed’s working and family life have given him great insight into doing business in the UAE and his network both locally and regionally is second to none. This enables Saaed to partner with investors and turn ideas into working business models within timescales unthinkable in other parts of the world – only after the relevant due diligence and feasibility phases have been completed.

Dubai is a cultural and economic bridge between East and West and the fastest growing city in the Middle East. With a multicultural population of over two million and an estimated one million visitors a day, the emirate boasts bases for 364 Fortune 500 companies. So, business is booming. And when business booms, so does leisure. The growth in the QSR, casual and fine dining sectors over the past five years has been quite spectacular with many global brands entering the market. Dubai has more and bigger malls than just about anywhere in the world and they are full of F&B brands and no shortage of dinners. At RRM, we have a long and wide-ranging history in the market and the region as whole. Our roots are deep and we are always on the lookout to find and partner with F&B brands that fit our culture and we believe will work here.
