The news of the Georgia Pacific, BASF, and Thompson Pipe layoffs hit local communities at the beginning of 2019. Bank of Zachary immediately commissioned an economic impact analysis in conjunction with the LSU AgCenter. The purpose of this study was to provide a detailed understanding of the economic impact on those directly affected as well as the potential impact on local economies and related industries. “The bank’s hope was to add clarity to the decision-making process of our government officials, small business owners and to the community as a whole,” stated Bank of Zachary President/CEO Mark Marionneaux. A community meeting will be held at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, June 11 at the Zachary High School Performing Arts Center to present the findings of the analysis. The public is invited to attend through this medium. For questions or more information, please contact Heather Prejean at Bank of Zachary 225-654-2701.

Mayor Amrhein and Zachary leaders recently joined Copper Mill Elementary 5th grade students at the “Composition Cafe.” The goal of the Composition Café is to allow students to share their writing throughout the year with members of their community. According to Rachel Henriquez, Copper Mill Elementary 5th Grade Teacher, “When students share their work, it helps give them additional purpose, pride in their work, and the opportunity to present something they have worked hard to create. Pictured above: Mayor Amrhein encourages young writer Camille Masterson at Composition Cafe.
Recently, Mrs. Bennett’s second grade students at Rollins Place Elementary School wrote letters to Mayor Amrhein as part of a lesson on friendly letters. Mayor Amrhein wrote back to each student and visited the class on Monday, May 13th to tell them about his role and responsibilities as Mayor.
