Mock Trial Team is An Easter Message ZHS One to Beat at Nationals ALLELUIA! ALLELUIA! ALLELUIA! As Christians universal rejoice in the resurrection of the Lord, we take time to reflect not only on the day, but on the meaning that Easter gives to all who live and die believing in the fact that Jesus Christ is Lord! Many years ago I befriended a Jewish couple and we became very close. He and his wife attended Midnight Mass wherever I was, and myself regularly attending bar-mitzvah’s when he was the rabbinical teacher. Over the years his wife contracted cancer and we spent many mornings praying together–praying for God’s mercy and healing. The morning she died, I was not able to make it to town until late that evening. When I arrived, the husband hugged and kissed me saying, “Now I am jealous of you.” Not having a wife, I asked what he meant, and he said “You have hope, all I have now is a body.” ALLELUIA! HE IS RISEN! That statement had such a profound impact at that very moment, that Easter was never to be the same again. As we live life on life’s terms and find ourselves having to deal with the unexpected and having to say good-bye to people that we do not feel we can live without, we as Christians are consoled and strengthened by the fact that the good-bye is temporary, yet eternal life is permanent. This, we have, because of Easter. As we went through the three days leading to Easter Sunday, we have participated in an event called the Triduum. After experiencing the Last Supper, then the crucifixion, suffering and death of our Lord, the disciples must have felt pretty empty, alone, and for all intents and purpose, they probably felt their world had ended. When Jesus appeared on that eve-
ning of the first day of the week, now glorified, no longer bruised, bloody and beaten they had to know that even death cannot overcome those who live and die believing in Christ our savior. This experience of the Paschal Mystery, is not only a lesson in death it is a blueprint for life. How often has some of the pain of our most difficult moments lead us to the glory of a new revelation of our strength, our lives and our loves? How many relationships are stronger and more honest after they have been through painful situations? How many projects have become stronger and more durable because we had faced the possibility of losing it all, but through out struggle, the lessons we learned have made them more successful and made us stronger? The reality of Easter shows us that out of our pain, and out of our shame, God creates virtues that never would have existed had we not first suffered. Those who keep faith in the midst of trials come to know that Easter means keep the faith, even through the darkest of nights. Those who wait in darkness with faith, greet the glory of a new day realizing God is present, and real, and here with us. In our Catholic world we greet this Easter season with a new hope in the election of our Holy Father Frances I. He has shown himself to be a man of humility, simplicity and holiness. His sense of care for his flock is obvious, and we are filled with hope of things to come as we continue to strive for fidelity to our Lord and His church. HAPPY EASTER!

Softball Team Strikes Out Cancer Leadership Night with Chad Ogea
The Legendz Sports Group recently celebrated its Leadership Night with over 250 people attending. Leadership Night is dedicated as a time when members and the
general public are invited to listen to presentations from guest speakers on subjects important to and consistent with the mission and purpose of Legendz–youth character education through participation in sports. This year, former LSU great and Cleveland Indians pitcher Chad Ogea treated the guests to a very audience-interactive presentation. Ogea’s presentation brought home the importance of the character traits that are learned through participation in sports that carry over into everyday life.

The Zachary High School softball team went up against the Morgan City Tigers on Saturday at the Zachary Youth Park for the 2013 Pink Games, raising money for the Susan G. Komen for the Cure foundation. Admission was free, but donations were accepted. The Susan G. Komen Foundation is dedicated to education and research about causes, treatment,
and the search for a cure for breast cancer–turning cancer patients into cancer survivors. The Lady Broncos wore a special pink t-shirt to show their support for breast cancer awareness, and many fans rooted for the players while wearing pink to help ZHS strike out breast cancer. Unfortunately, the ZHS team lost both games of the doubleheader 3 to 4 and 5 to 6.
On the weekend of March 9-10, the Legendz 11U Blue competed in their first tournament of the season. Despite a slow start, they put things together to bring home the Grand Slam Louisiana World Series Giveaway Championship trophy. Pictured (l to r) are: (kneeling) Dax Delapasse, Kyle Landry, Kyle Rogillio and Jayden Williams. Standing are Easton Rish, Dylan Sarrazin,
